He's been president for over a year now, how are they still 'shocked' by this stuff?
"This is Baghdad? WOW WHAT A SHITHOLE - I mean, oh, those poor impoverished little children..." - Eric Cartman
Still one of my favorite episodes.
Seriously, this is the dude who spent eight years telling us Obama couldn't be American because he's black.
The same guy who calls Nazis "very fine people", but black people kneeling are "sons of bitches".
The dude who thinks all Mexicans are drug dealing rapists.
Not a Trump supporter or even American but I don't see how it's racist, and it's certainly not shocking by any means. It has nothing to do with race. It's about countries with bad conditions being run by (or run into the ground by) greedy corrupt shitheads that want to keep the country in those conditions because it's easier to exploit and remain in power. Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, Libya, Congo, Philippines, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Haiti, Mexico, etc. It's not the people's fault they live in a shithole and the people aren't what I'm denigrating whatsoever. You regularly hear people in those countries refer to their own country as a shithole. That's why so many of them want to leave it.
It's fair to call a country a shithole when its government treats human life like disposable shit... that's why it's a shithole. And countries don't have to remain a shithole - like how Saudi Arabia has recently taken strides toward not treating women like subhumans. If your country executes women for being raped, it's a fucking shithole. If your country is run by drug cartels, it's a fucking shithole. If your country executes people for petty offenses, it's a fucking shithole. If your country's population has to make do with mud huts while the people running it have golden toilets, it's a fucking shithole. If your country legally allows adults to fuck children, it's a fucking shithole.
"I wouldn't want to live in that shithole", not "that country's a shithole because of the people living in it".
I can't find any other reports of this online. Is anyone else reporting this? Or is this another "Israel flooded Gaza" story?
The fact that accidentally is in quotes shows that this isn't a news article. This is an editorial. There is extreme bias present. It should not be considered a source for news.
Raise your fucking standards, people.
What a absurd headline. How can a country shoot at people?
This sounds implausible. A 3 year old gets shot in the head with bullets (plural) and is in stable condition?
Africa startled by Trump's sudden and vulgar attention
Botswana’s government called Trump’s comment “reprehensible and racist,” saying the U.S. ambassador had been summoned to clarify whether the nation is regarded as a “shithole” country after years of cordial relations.
There is no amount of money you could offer me to be a US Ambassador right now.
Using vulgar language, Trump on Thursday questioned why the U.S. would accept more immigrants from Haiti and “shithole countries” in Africa rather than places like Norway in rejecting a bipartisan immigration deal.
Do Norwegians even want to immigrate here? I thought their country was doing very well.
Actually, most current ambassadors offered Trump money during the campaign to become one! Like that imbecile they have sent to the Netherlands.
Has May commented on this yet?
Fuck. Now what am I supposed to do with the 3 months worth of dogshit I've saved up?
No it has to speak with March and April first
Yeah I suppose so.
It's a pity Piers Morgan isn't running for office.
Not surprising considering they make the majority of products/goods for U.S. anyway.
Wait, you mean to tell me people from developed countries don't want to immigrate to the U.S. as much as people from underdeveloped, and impoverished countries? No way. /s
yeah well i mean... tell that to trump.. he seems to be legitimately asking why
that's why they are tweeting it, it's the only thing he understands
Don't be fooled. Trump knows only one direction and that's forward. He is taking a lot of heat for his racists comments earlier so he digs in deeper. Bringing in Obama's name was no accident. The truth doesn't matter, he just strings together dog whistles to let his base know he's one of them. This has always been the core of his strength.
He's not using dog whistles any more. It's megaphones and air horns now.
god dammit obama. was looking forward to calling him a cunt in real life.
Trump is pathetic. He isn't welcome there because he has the tact and statesmanship of Rush fucking Limbaugh. He managed to alienate one of our closest allies for no other reason than to score points with his brainless base.
I have as low an opinion of Trump as most of Reddit, but in this case I'd point the finger elsewhere...
The Obama administration -- whose official policy was to never jail bankers regardless of their wrongdoing and the harm it caused -- had already given waivers to all the affected banks. The Trump administration has extended those waivers for years more.
a) Trump's platform included punishing these banks.
b) Trump directly profits from this decision
That second one is huge. How the hell do I know he made this decision based on what he thought would be best for the country, and not his company? This is why we insist that presidents shed themselves of any potential business interests upon taking office.
Less than two years later, in the final hours of the Obama administration, Deutsche Bank agreed to a $7.2 billion settlement with the Justice Department for misleading investors in mortgage-backed securities between 2006 and 2007.
As an American this is really wierd. I feel like I'm in an episode of Black Mirror. Having a racist Grandpa leading my county and I can't do anything about it leaves me to just type this comment.
Regardless of how anyone feels about immigration it's still a pointless and stupid fucking comment to make.
I'm witnessing the country i grew up hearing as The Good Guy turning swiftly into The Bad Guy.
And not even an impressive Bad Guy like Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia.
A shitty, second rate Bad Guy laughably run by a used car salesman.
Like...Libya quality bad.
Sad that this is even necessary, but good on her for taking a stand.
Yea we need more people like this to help fight for reform/justice
