Of course, it did. At this point, with this administration, it just is par for the course. The fact that head of the EPA still even feels the need to have a soundproof phone booth is insane.

there is already a floor they use so epa staff with scif classifications can share information, this wackjob did it so he could privately do it with the whitehouse... it's almost like he had something to hide

This is just as wasteful as the rest (Wimbledon trips on public dime for the VA secretary, a $31k table for Ben Carson, $139k door for Zinke, etc) but even more horrifying is what the fuck do you need a soundproof booth for in a public job?

Edit: corrected amount on Carson's table

Exactly, this whole administration is just so blatantly corrupt.

"I was as surprised as anyone to find out that a $31,000 dining set had been ordered," Ben Carson said in a statement. "I have requested that the order be canceled. We will find another solution for the furniture replacement."

Here's the problem. It's not just that he ordered it. It's that he lied and said he didn't. Knowing Dr. Sleepy I bet he was given this catalogue and just figured it was a "pick what you want" and the cost wouldn't matter. I absolutely guarantee he just assumed that since no one mentioned cost, it wasn't a factor. But by lying and saying he didn't select this, that to me is the shitty thing.

Does this administration know they are civil servants and not apart of the royal family?

No, When you are all on a crusade to cut costs because the taxpayer, the lying is not all that concerning, it is expected with someone that ever interacts with Trump. With his original story, he didn't care about the cost because it was for him. It is the whole ideology of Republicans, government spending for you is evil theft, spending for me is what I deserve. Fuck it being about the lies, Trump people lie to the point you just assume the opposite of what they say is truth and you are right more often than not, but the ideology around moralizing who has money spent on them via the government is a real fucking issue.

teacher told the class before pointing the gun at the ceiling that he was doing so to make sure his gun wasn’t loaded, something that can be determined visually.

Gonzales said he learned about the incident when his 17-year-old son came home with blood on his shirt and bullet fragments in his neck.

“He’s shaken up, but he’s going to be okay. I’m just pretty upset that no one told us anything and we had to call the police ourselves to report it,” the father told the TV station.

Good fucking lord... Multiple people need to be fired, if not outright arrested.

That's the third story of gun fuckery in 24 hours. There was the sheriff that left his gun in the school locker room; the SRO whose gun went off while in his office; and now this asshole.

Guns do not belong in schools, especially when even the people (ostensibly) trained in their use can't keep them from randomly going off or going missing.

EDIT: Added links.

I can't fathom why a good teacher with a gun didn't come running to stop this guy.

I’m a history teacher, and I took time after the shooting at Stoneman Douglas to have an open forum with my 9th graders. We were discussing the idea of having armed teachers and this is exactly the sort of shit that came up. Shit happens in classrooms. Students AND adults make mistakes all the time. There is no room for a weapon in that mixture of learning, passion, underpaid state employees, and teenage drama. Shit is bound to go bad sometime.

They all just lie about verifiable things. It's so damaging to this country to have a bunch of complete and constant liars supposedly running the joint.

The tweets from the Carson account are fucking infuriating:

Thank you to so many who have expressed concern for me and my family over the latest accusations. Rest assured that there has been no dishonesty or wrongdoing by us. All the numbers and evidence are being gathered and a full disclosure is forthcoming. 1/2

We suspect, based on past attempts, that they will continue to probe and make further accusations even without evidence or substantiation. We will continue to ask for God’s guidance to do what is right. 2/2

Always got to lay the blame at other's door; always got to invoke their desperate religious guidance.

Didn’t he claim to have no knowledge of this and feigned surprise when he found out how much the desk cost? I’m starting to think this Ben Carson fellow might be a shitty person.

Edit: yep "I was as surprised as anyone to find out that a $31,000 dining set had been ordered," Ben Carson said in a statement. "I have requested that the order be canceled. We will find another solution for the furniture replacement."

It's pathetic take a little responsibility for your mistakes, don't throw a staffer under the boss because your bullshit is spotted.

10 million dollars wasted. 10 small loans.

So to sum up:

The district previously went for Trump by 20 points. The incumbent rep ran unopposed in the last two elections. The term doesn't even last another year before the next election. The seat won't exist in this form after the redistricting. The GOP spent millions of dollars trying to hold on to a short-lived congress seat that wasn't even contended contested before. And still lost.

RNC/NRCC has already sent their lawyer squad to PA. Dejavu of 2000 FL incoming.

Why isn't this still a thing? An admiral of our Armed Forces lied about our President's weight and health for some reason. Oh wait. This is the Trump Presidency, I forgot.

The reason is simple: the President must appear strong, any negative health has huge ripple effects not just here but globally.

I don't agree with that, but that's how they think. There's a youtube video where people try to eat Trump's diet for a day and it's truly atrocious

Remember when Republicans were saying "what would have happened to Hawking if he was in socialist healthcare". Not knowing that the UK's NHS is like the most socialist healthcare possible.

ETA:

Correction, they didn't know that he was a UK citizen and said that the NHS would have let him die.

How many Hawkings have we lost in America because of our profit oriented healthcare?

I never knew this man, yet miss him terribly! He was one of the reasons I began to love science and still do to this day.

Mr. Hawking, thank you for introducing a little brown girl to the world of cosmology and philosophy. To this day I fall into books and civil debates about science with so much passion, and I know that it's because of you and your tireless research and insight. My freshman year of college was jam-packed with philosophy and astronomy classes, which I'd have never had the courage to take otherwise.

I hate that you're gone.

That's because Stephen spoke in that ridiculous American accent.

I mean, that's literally the difference between a democracy with rules and institutions and an arbitrary dictatorship.

Have fun explaining the President why he can't fire her too...

Furthermore, there is a reason why Putin's underlings were so desperate to talk to Trump about sanctions oops I mean adoptions. The Magnitsky-style sanctions have the potential to undermine the dictator's power in a big way.

Why? It expressly says this sub is about Russian politics.

My dad (who supports Trump) is depressed at tonight’s results.

He could write off Virginia as a Hillary state

He could write off Alabama as Roy Moore being uniquely bad

But only now does he realize Trump is dooming his party and pushing the country to the left

His dispair gives me hope.

Conor did it with no corporate PAC funding. Meanwhile trump and the GOP desperately pumped in over $10M to try to prop up a shit candidate even Putin's Combover said is 'weak'. trump should go back to campaigning for pedophile Roy Moore.
