As much as voting may damage my life I have now registered.

Hi, I'm a woman in my mid 50s in Tennessee. I'm a life long Jehovah's Witness. For those who do not know voting is forbidden in my religion. In fact any political activity will get you disfellowshipped and shunned. All of your family and friends will cut you out of their lives. I do not KNOW a non JW other than people I talk to in the ministry.

What I see going on in America right now makes me ill. There is no way I as a citizen can sit back and let others carry the load. I've registered to vote and will do my part to make sure no NRA funded politician and no Trump supporting politician will be voted into any office that I can place a vote on.

How do I reconcile this with my beliefs? I don't really believe any more anyway. I wasn't supposed to be this old in this "system of things" . "The END" was supposed to come while I was still a child so I'm pretty sure it's all bullshit anyway. Only the threat of losing my family keeps me attending meetings. ONLY that. I quit donating years ago and now donate to Democratic political campaigns since Trump was elected.

Thanks for this subreddit. It's educating an old ignorant lady who never ever thought political action would be a part of my life.

Young People Are Registering to Vote in Huge Numbers, New Study Finds

"Millennials now ruining voter apathy. What will they ruin next?"

Good news that should send shill across GOP ranks.

Now all they have to do is actually vote!

Millennials are mostly in their thirties now. Articles about Gen-Z mostly

Young voters make up significant portion of new registrations in key states since Parkland shooting

Well lookey-here: senate battlegrounds of AZ, NV, FL, IN have higher-than-normal young registrants than the rest of the country.

Steyer's NextGen group is doing GREAT work on this front. They hauled ass in AZ-08 andare working on general turnout as well. Their staff team here in AZ is as talented as any statewide race's roster outside of maybe Sinema's campaign.

And PA, House battleground state

Now we just need them to actually vote.

BREAKING: All House Republicans (232) vote NO and block gov’t funding used to defend our elections from foreign attacks

BREAKING: All House Republicans (232) vote NO and block gov’t funding used to defend our election...

"There are but two parties now; Traitors & Patriots. I want hereafter, to be ranked with the latter" - Ulysses S. Grant.

If you are unwilling to defend your country against a foreign attack then you shouldn't be in government. I see 232 who could make excellent greeters at some low cost store.

I guess you don't vote on a bill that hurts your chances of being reelected.

It's almost like they have a vested interest in insecure election process.

70 Democrats Sign On to New ‘Medicare for All’ House Caucus

BOOM, this is the kind of shit I like hearing!

I think it's our best choice at the moment because the right has fooled people into thinking other options won't work, (despite working famously elsewhere.) Medicare is very popular and effective for those that qualify, and thus will be harder to fight.

I am not fond of Medicare for all. I think it is not comprehensive enough and the co-pays are too high. However, it is a start... a foundation to build. I want to all Americans get the same level of care with no exemptions. Full dental and optical included. Rein in big pharma, integrate medicaid, set standard prices and put medical insurers out of business.

Medicare for all would not only expand the existing Medicare program. The proposed system would cover more issues including dental and vision and would eliminate co-pays.

Sounds like you are more on board with the actual proposal than you thought.

That's a page giving information on the house proposal these folks are trying to work towards.
