I lucked out super hard and found this place at the last minute. Two bedroom apartment, random craigslist roommate that’s been great so far, back yard touching the lake and three kayaks free to use just sitting outside.
I’ve never had a place with good enough lighting for plants. I’ve gone a little crazy with it. I’ve accumulated 18 over the past month and I’m sure there’ll be more. It makes me so happy every time I see it that I wanted to share!
Luckily I’m 6’4”! It only takes a chair for me. And I work at a Distillery so I bring RO water home for them!
Love lots of plants inside. Lucky you!
I cant even paint one solid color without fucking the whole wall up. Look at you over here Mr. Sold my soul to satan to paint cool walls.
Aw that's so much fun! I love the graphic! Good job on matching the colours from the textiles!
I found a similar style elsewhere online so had a rough idea of how I wanted it to end up. The general process was:Painted the whole room white. Picked the yellow based on the bed covers/curtains The blues were picked from a colour chart but I wanted them to roughly match the blue in the wardrobe doors (right of the photo) With thick masking tape i started with the long diagonal from left to right. Then carried on adding lines. I patted down the masking tape to make sure it was fully stuck to the wall. With the roller I started filling in the colours - I was aiming for 3-4 sections per colour. Left the paint to dry for a couple of hours then pulled off the masking tape. I had no idea how it was going to come out until this point.
A trick to prevent bleeding is to paint down the base color over the tape first before painting the decorative color. That way, if anything bleeds, it will be the same color as the wall.
Well I can't speak for you but the coffee table is definitely a little high. I think it might be intended as a side table, but this table is easier to reach snacks on :)
This is beautiful, I've been trying to figure out a good layout for the studio I'm about to move into and never considered putting the couch and bed close, but with a divider. Thanks for the idea!
What can you tell us about the large artwork piece?
It's Polish folk art made of paper cuttings called wycinaki. My grandma brought them back from a trip to Poland and had them framed together.
Wow, this is like an Apartment Therapy feature! Out of curiosity, how do you find a book when you’re looking for it? And do you have people all up in your business with those big windows?

Apt is in south LA: 800sf one-bedroom for around $900.
Honestly I have a good idea where most of them are, so it's never too much of a chore to hunt around a little. And I don't mind living in a bit of a fishbowl - all my neighbors are very friendly.
Whoa that rent is not bad. How far south are we talking?
Love the look of open shelving but I I'm still not sold on it.
Especially since 90% of the items I have in the top cabinets is not worth displaying. Maybe if I had a pantry....
I really like the use of wood to warm up the whites and greys! Sometimes those neutral palettes feel chilly, but this looks inviting.
We had to start fresh and get all new stuff, luckily ikea is up the road!
I love all the bold colors! That wall color is 😚!! Cute kitty, too. Although the look seems to say I didn't say you could take my pic 😸
The rainbow rug, gold chairs, teal paint and the ginger cat offset your neutral couch beautifully. Brings the illusion of light into your room. And if you get bored with the look, the couch could easily work with an entirely different scheme. Smart.
Very nice, you clearly have a very good eye for color placement. The room feels very cohesive. :)
I would have thought that the wall color would be too much....but I like it. Nice job.
Here is an imgur album with more of the house if anyone is interested. It's in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston MA
EDIT* Since people seem to be into this post, I added 3 more pics I had of the place to the imgur album :) Thanks for looking and the nice words everyone!
only 4k a month to rent!
Yeah for sure. The record credenza is probably my favorite piece of furniture I have. It super solid and looks good. Got it from Urban Outfitters https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shop/ema-low-credenza
It's a replica eames office chair. I got it off amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JS5W1OU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Love the accent wall color. And the trim of your windows looks amazing! Very nice.
1) replace bench along window with console table and many plants
2) post to reddit
Why not share a sunny August picture?
No, it’s unused. The downstairs is open plan and the photo is taken from the dining room which has better direct access to the hallway.
I hope you don’t need to go out that door...
Where's your lamp from?
I love lamp.
I'm obsessed. Do you have more photos?
I also LOOOOOOOVE the planter your tree is in, where did you get it?
I have added some more photo's to Imgur:
The planter is handmade by a woman in The Netherlands, she has a shop on Etsy:
Wow so cool!!! 70s without feeling “costumey” !!! Fantastic!
Rad. Love the pops of orange!
