From my point of view, Bert is Evil
I dunno, if there's anything that /sub/bertstrips has taught me it's that Bert dies at his own hands, consumed by guilt for the crimes he committed back in 'Nam.
However, Bert's guilt does not stem from the nature of his actions either in Vietnam or back home. He feels no guilt for his depravity, but rather only because, in Vietnam, he was murdering at the behest and encouragement of the U.S. government, which, in Bert's words, "is run by conniving Jews." Bert is generally ambivalent towards the other denizens of Sesame St., viewing them mostly as potential victims of his sexual predation; however he cannot abide The Count for the same reasons he could not abide his conduct in Vietnam. Before taking his own life, he takes one other, in the hopes that he will do his part in liberating the world from the grips of the Zionists.
Ernie watches, probably masturbating and maybe egging Bert on.
At least he's not dying because he's sad.
