The Tower Dive Podcast: Two nerds yell at each other about League of Legends. They've done 60 episodes even though no one watches

It's the mindless ramblings of 2 guys that have played this game since season 1. They usually post at least 1 episode every 2 weeks and sometimes they have guest hosts.

Edit: Also on stitcher. I think thats still a thing http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/tower-dive?refid=stpr

Edit 2: twitter @TowerDivePC

I think it's funny how in the post you type as if you're just someone who found the podcast, but in comments you say you're one of the creators lol

EDIT: Why didn't you just make another post like this? You got decent attention without having to come off as a third party.

a little? It's a lot desperate.

Check out this gambling site I just found...!

I was hoping the official title was actually: The Tower Dive Podcast: Two nerds yell at each other about League of Legends.

Still more popular than /all chat.

I like an honest man

Yeah I definitely hate the game.

We would've stop a long time ago if we didnt

that was our working title. The higher ups said it was a little too on the nose and we couldn't market it that way

Seems a little desperate

Dont hate the player

You think I would just come on the internet and lie to people? What kind of monster does that?

Two nerds yell at each other about League of Legends.

That doesn't actually sound good/enticing.

We csgo now?

I don't know if they've always been doing this but I remember my friend showing me an episode a couple months back where it was nothing but talking about what champion you'd bang. or something to that effect. Seems pretty desperate. Needs to be retired.

/sub/leaguoflegends is 800,000 nerds yelling at each other about League of Legends

That may be for you, but I feel that outside of reddit, it gets recieved pretty well. They made it to get closer to the community and get involved in it. I like how they give artists the chance to tell a bit about themself. Also they introduced me to new artists that I didn't know before. I mean, I don't follow every episode but it isn't bad, it's just not for you

"It's the mindless ramblings of 2 guys that have played this game since season 1. They usually post at least 1 episode every 2 weeks and sometimes they have guest hosts." -some guy that didnt' watch our show.

?

'It's League podcast with a lot of episodes that no one watches' isn't notable, though. At this point they're about as abundant in the universe as Helium.

I don't get that though. They should do this all the time everywhere, who really cares. Someone on Imgur gave me shit for successfully using it as a platform to promote my art, but I'm like wtf is everyone who has any success online supposed to just stumble on it without even trying? Is that really what people expect? The reality is you have to put yourself out there constantly and do whatever you can to try and garner a fan base.

I think the reason it's written as if it was a third party who discovered it is because there's an odd stigma on reddit when it comes to sharing your own content. For whatever reason, if you just add "my friend" or "my girlfriend" to a title it's significantly more likely to do well regardless of the quality of the content. Example: My girlfriend drew this portrait of Bjergson, is more likely to succeed than I drew a portrait of Bjergsen, seemingly regardless of the quality of the post. Something about the false sincerity of posting something someone else has made that you can't profit from is strangely more acceptable to people than self promotion which is necessary for creators. Many people online seem to look down on self promotion even if the content is really good!

My point is, from what I've experienced at least, if you make something yourself and post it on reddit, unless it's of very high quality, people won't like it nearly as much as if you pretend you're a third party who discovered it. I don't know that "desperate" is the word to describe this post, so much as "smart" or "necessary".

Except that's basically how any thread on this sub turns out.

That's still a thing...?

that, and a really poor pr team

Kind of ironic since this post was made in a less than honest way

never judge a book by it's cover... unless it's mein kampf. Feel free to judge that one

Way too much time is spent on the thumbnails lol

honest

Wording the post to pretend like you just stumbled across a podcast isn't honest.

There are a bunch of mediocre LoL podcasts I've had to stop listening to.

Rough Drafts uses the worst of traditional sports analysis from TV knuckleheads. "Who wants it more" is nothing compared to "who wards better", but they talk much more about the first

Low Elo is a silly show by silly people.

Shotcallers somehow takes people with insight and manages to make them look boring and lost. I loved how the bit (two eps back) about "open source esport" was a big tangent when it was a straw man ignoring simpler solutions.

T-Force LCS show has the same problem watching LCS I have: There's so damn much LCS to watch, and if you only watch part of it, you're only knowledgeable about part of it. So it's the best one I've found yet, but the host digresses with wack reasoning too often.

It's good to know Tower Dive provides a public service other than gross masturbation jokes.

depends on the %

Untrue! You can totally promote your own stuff, but

Don't post the same thing more than once

Make at least 9 non self-serving contributions to the sub per 1 self-serving one (i.e. your profile page never has more than 3 threads on its first page)

Don't have any of your friends, colleagues, coworkers vote it up, let it get voted on naturally

Don't be a dick while doing it

That's all there is to it!

I mean, you're not wrong.

60 episodes that nobody has watched, can you honestly blame them for being desperate?

OH LOOK I WON...... AGAIN.

"Things that are true aren't funny because they're just sad"

I like these guys

Do you enjoy making it?

Reddit, as far as I can tell, hates us but that's okay! I'm glad some people still defend us even still :P

"They've done 60 episodes even though no one watches" all of this sounds so much worse knowing that the creator wrote that

An emotional terrorist. That's who. Emotional terrorism is one of modern society's most crippling problems and you're part of the solution. Thank you sir.

Don't give me attitude Joris

no, because no one watches your show

I think we're the emotional Tea Party. We spout a bunch a nonsense claiming it's for the good of everybody

Dear NSA, this was a joke. I am not a nazi.

THIS MUST BE THE WORK OF AN ENEMY 「STAND」!!

I hate deceptive advertising.

If you came out and said "Hey, we created 60+ videos... etc" you would probably receive more support.

Yeah, we tried that. It didnt work. So far two things have gotten us to the front page. Pretending to be someone Im not, and calling Soaz a pussyface.

hijacking top comment to say the thumbnail game is on point

I feel like /AllChat gets a ton of unnecessary flack. Sure they ain't perfect but it's a nice community thing.

Now the League Podcast, that's something I'm a huge fan of.

I dont think we've ever had a mod be on our side before. History has it's eyes on you buddy.

yes, you'd be surprised what an oprah book club sticker and some fancy typesetting can do for a published piece.

They still have new episodes on the client.

"It's the mindless ramblings of 2 guys that have played this game since season 1. They usually post at least 1 episode every 2 weeks and sometimes they have guest hosts." -some guy that watched our show.

Fixed?

Damn it. This kind of honesty makes me want to listen.

almost 900,000!

Heh, it's boring. I like how OP (one of the hosts) talks like it's not their show. Are we CS:GO now?

and soon...THE WORLD

Of course not. That doesn't change the fact that it's a desperate promotion lol.

Are you saying the biggest problem with Mein Kampf was its cover?

Lots of reasons.

I'm desperate for upvotes People dont like self promotions See number 1

I love how 90% are discussing your marketing strategy (lul) instead of the actual content of your channel.

I'm going to steam an Oprah book club sticker off a shitty book and then stick it on a copy of Mein Kampf and then read it on the subway thanks to this comment.

Low Elo closed up shop, I think. I liked them but they said stuff like 'never play ranked' which made a lot of their other opinions pretty suspect

I haven't listened to T-Force in a while, but it was the best by a good margin, despite the host being the weakest link. He was good at keeping things flowing but he's super loud and abrasive. They were also the highest ranked cast I listened to but they were still only mostly high Gold.

also sometimes yelling

beyond the rift

Thats a nice change, usually it's rewarded with a crushing amount of self doubt. XD

ZA WARUDO! TOKI WO TOMARE!

I hate everything... except pandas, they are pretty cool.

It's super bad. The only reason why I sometimes watch it is because Dash is hot. But yeah, All Chat is terrible.

It's like listening to reddit

It's marketing

admitting to it is.

I remember that back when it was new, every new episode was featured on the client. It was so cringe they stopped doing that so I just thought they stopped doing it all together. Apparently not...

well theres always Dota i guess

Thanks FoleyX90's wife!

Right, but sucking helium was fun as a kid...and we're fun, and some would say we suck...so...by process of elimination and some sort of associative property, you should definitely give us a try!

its a tongue-in-cheek title. we're not ACTUALLY yelling, we 2 fans giving our insight (whatever that's worth) and just having fun, talking about relevant topics in a game we've spent a LOT of time playing (s2).

We're on the user's side more often than you think! The only problem is y'all can only see which threads we remove, who complains about a ban, etc; and not all the things with the pretty green checkmark of approval, but such is the nature of the position.

We're on the user's side more often than you think! The only problem is y'all can only see which threads we remove, who complains about a ban, etc; and not all the things with the , but such is the nature of the position.

Yeah can't blame the guy, people on here hate self promotion but at the same time it's weird how they haven't figured out that 90% of these "person does something nobody watches" posts are made by the actual creator.

and he won't shut up about it

That's a good point. But he wrote the main post as if he were a 3rd party and then came into the comments saying he created it. So that's not really the same thing, is it?

if we did it for fame and/or fortune...well...we would definitely not be doing it. We do it because we have fun, and we do it because, and this is a genuine answer, there are people out there that enjoy us (and get us - pro tip, we're NOT super serious about everything we say.) and we like that people enjoy our content, even if its only a few.

Rome wasn't built in a day...it took several...hundred years.

Reddit and League fans are a fickle mistress...but our mistress, none the less. Soon, her husband will come home, and we'll have to hide in the closet, and when the chance arrives, jump out of the 2nd story window, naked, running down the street, under the cover of street lights.

I'm not sure where i'm going with that, but thanks for watching and giving a shit!

I think we try to "carve our own niche" so to speak. A lot of people that have critiqued our show have said "we want more of this or more of that", but what they're asking for is something popular shows already give...and will probably give better than we do. We try to treat our show a little different. We give our opinions of things, popular or unpopular. We make light of a LOT of things. We talk about whats important to us and, hopefully, important to you. We're not breaking down games, or footage, or giving "how you can improve your game" tips, simply because we're not qualified to do that. If you rely on CptnHooks or Pan the Man to improve your game...you're going to be pretty awful at this game...maybe more amusing...but pretty awful.

My goal would be to have people call in, like a radio show, when we're recording, kind of like what Trash Talk does, but i think we'd have a little more fun with it. Ultimately i'd like to treat our show like a really good, funny radio show, where there some facts, but mostly fun, humor and amused viewers/listeners.

I used to watch them while playing league, but they were so interesting to hear that I got bad results in ranked because I was being careless

I will watch them again now that I will start smurfing in silver, these guy are hilarious

You are doing a tremendous job. A tremendous job for this country. I care a lot for nerds, in fact I have a lot of nerd friends who come to me to thank me for telling lies about them. They thank me for insulting them. Truly good friends of mine. They tell me "Donald, you have done such a tremendous job". You are doing a tremendous job.

He edited his original comment from

Heh, it's boring.

to what it is now. Trying to rip off the top comments

thats reddit bb

The only episode i ever truly appreciated was the one with Dark Manne. Then again, his sense of humor is pretty well measured.

On the topic of good podcasts that dont get enough listeners, the Just OK Gamers podcast with Gweedo is still very funny but doesn't get the attention it deserves. www.justokgamers.com

now, was it bad results because you were listening to us...or bad results because you were taking our advice?...because I can understand "less than stellar" results for either of those!

several hundred years...sure, but i don't know how league will be after the first 100 years. i guess we'll have to find out.

Are you NA by any chance? When I log into my NA account every once in a while I see that the featured media is slightly different than than what I have in EU. Maybe that's why

Is that how long you plan on doing the podcast?

Just curious

mostly me yelling...

self promotion is called shameless for a reason. if we had shame...or scruples with self promotion, well, then it just wouldn't be Tower Dive...plus, lets all be fair, the League community LOVES the smell of desperation.

Yeah op uses 'they' but then 'our' seems like self-advertising.

Yeah, sometimes some of us can be rudebois. Not gonna disagree with that. And it's definitely a bad thing.

I've been on the team longer than anyone else, but you can get pretty jaded pretty fast when so many communications end up being adversarial.

i love /allchat !

especially the baron pit segment.

Thanks man! Wish we could get more in depth with gameplay topics with it but I'm glad you like it!

Why did you post this as if you had just come across it, "Two nerds" "2 guys" "they", if you are one of the creators? You masked an advertisement as something you just randomly found, almost just like the who csgo thing
