National MP Jami-Lee Ross has admitted to having affairs with two women - one of them an MP

"The National Party has now decided to smear my reputation as much as possible. I simply can't run in a byelection on that basis. I've decided it's more important to continue talking about the National Party."

Holy shit

No doubt it was Collins using her feminine charms to orchestrate this whole saga, they say her thighs can crush a fully grown māui dolphin's skull.

Absolutely a National MP, otherwise the Herald would have named them

Enjoy the long weekend National MPs! Hahaha!

Yeah but National has been going on and on about how that's so "undemocratic" and "obnoxious" and "draconian" and "an affront to freedom of speech". Jami-Lee is forcing them to eat their words to kick him out.

This just continues to get dirtier and dirtier

More importantly, Ross is now not resigning despite admitting this.

National may still be more in the wrong here than JLR. Having an affair is a shitty thing to do as a person, but National hiding his supposed treatment of women for “a few years” is a very bad thing to do for a party under-represented by women.

Oh jeez.

BUT this is a smear campaign by National to divert attention away from their issues. I don't want this to detract from National's corruption scandal.

JLR can face the consequences in a seperate way. Both can be in the wrong simultaneously.

No doubt it was Collins using her feminine charms to orchestrate this whole saga, they say her thighs can crush a fully grown māui dolphin's skull.

I just spat out a lot of coffee as I read this.

(Not the whole article)

Referring to being accused of inappropriate behaviour from a married MP and the revelations of the affairs, he said: "A scab has been picked on the parliamentary personal issues. It has long been a case where personal matters are kept private, but the rules of the game have changed.

"There's a lot of bed-hopping that goes on down in that Parliament. There's a lot of behaviour that a lot of people would want kept secret and has been kept secret until now. But the way in which we now play politics is that we lift the bed-sheets."

He fired a warning to the party, saying he could also dish the dirt on a lot of the activity that he took part in as chief whip.

"There is a rot in the National Party. People on behalf of the leadership get asked to do things so the leader is kept clean.

"I was asked to help exit Todd Barclay because he was becoming difficult for Bill English. Bill English was kept clean. Paula Bennett was pulling the puppet strings. But recordings about him came out and ended up in the media."

He said he had a number of text messages between himself and John Key about a donation that had become difficult.

"I was asked by John Key to go in and talk to the donor and see if there was something about the Labour Party that we could find out. John Key and I ended up discussing that later on in text messages.

"The National Party has now decided to smear my reputation as much as possible. I simply can't run in a byelection on that basis. I've decided it's more important to continue talking about the National Party."

I’m assuming JLR was the “useless” Bridges was referring to when talking about Maureen Pugh.

Is that the real reason they call her Crusher?

Crusher Collins /s

Oh this far exceeds being an obnoxious drunk

Such speculation is not fair on one hand. It's also inevitable and damming for National's female MPs. JLR is one corrupt motherfucker and he must realise the rumours he'll be inciting.

I've got hoes, in different area codes (area, area codes, codes)

So the female MP is most likely from National and Jami-Lee stated in the Newstalk ZB interview this evening that she is married. In addition apparently she contacted Newsroom about it. My money is on it being Erica Stanford (MP for East Coast Bays) - she is a similar age, married, National MP and had an interview with Tim Murphy from Newsroom last year. Just my 2 cents..

Edit - Further investigation also is leading me to think that it is Sarah Dowie... according to #nzpol on Twitter.

So Sarah or Erica? Wonder which one it is gonna be...

Nah that'd be like having sex with a praying mantis

Which one was it?

National has been smearing him by getting an investigative reporter to write about the women he used, harrassed and abused. Also she started a year ago. Also he actually did that stuff. But its still a smear. So he should stay on. Just like how his txts showing Greg Hamilton ensuring the law was applied correctly proved corruption.

He might not be all there right now.

He said in the Newstalk ZB interview that she is married. Wonder who...

her thighs

Tentacles. I'm almost certain she's the villain from Little Mermaid

it's not a school night

Sarah Dowie

Whoever it is I can EASILY imagine a scenario in which senior MPs knew of the affair and gently “encouraged” the woman to anonymously go to the press when JLR started kicking off. If I was a married mp fucking around on my husband (with jlr no less lol) there’s no way I’d tell anyone about that willingly let alone the press - even anonymously

Sarah dowie just had a divorce

I didnt realise exposing corruption was considered bullshit.

some people like the danger, just ask David Carradine.

why the hell is anyone drinking coffee at this hour

Hold on for a second, Jamie Lee Ross was the person that brought this to the forefront, he's made a lot of accusations that, up until now, are entirely unsubstantiated, the National Partry didn't bring up ANY of these things, he's being hoisted on his own petard.

Could the National Party still be in a pile of shit, yes, but the stuff that is going on now is entirely of Mr Ross's own making, the National Party didn't release the audio recording, they didn't make accusations in public, they didn't tell Mr Ross to resign and force a by-election, he's done that all himself.

Yeah, I lost a lot of respect for Melanie Reid when she did some "investigative" "reporting" using information provided to her via the Backbone Collective by a mate's ex during a messy custody dispute. His ex got nailed to the wall in the Family Court, but Newsroom still reported her bollocks on their website without giving him a right of reply.

Yeah Aaron and Todd Barclay combined are maybe 10% of this. As Ben Thomas said, this is the Infinity Wars version of a political meltdown.

https://soundcloud.com/nzherald/bridges-tells-ross-more-women-would-accuse-him

so why are you trying to lengthen it?!

Oh is your team not having fun now that the dirty politics have been turned against themselves?

I had to google them all as i have no fkn clue but my 30 second investigation leads me to guess it is the Sarah one.

Cant National just kick him out and force him to vacate his seat?

Hva eto think he's tarnished any future job opportunities. Who wants to hire this guy when you know he could be taping your private convos?

she defo strikes me as a "solo bottle of chard on the couch most nights" type character which is probs why I have a soft spot for her.

Eww

I doubt many are single at all. National MPs strike me as the type of folk who look at you funny if you’re not married with a kid by age 30.

GeRrY BrOwnLeEeeeeee

Downvoted for replying this twice to yourself.

why the hell is anyone drinking coffee at this hour

Mate, it's been a long day.

Maureen Pugh?? /s

But they have to show that it will effect the proportionality of parliament.

He's holding out for a payoff. Some megadonors will be shoulder-tapped to drop cash in an account. You can see it in his threats to stay on and reveal more. He's saying, 'I won't leave until you fork out'. The by-election will be back on in another week.

I heard a rumour it was Sarah Dowie. No idea if it’s true of not, I guess time will tell

I think it means if he were to vote consistently against National policy, which is what voters elected him to do. Basically a very high threshold. That was the example they used on National Radio earlier. And yes he can stay in the chamber during those days afaik. He'll be able to say what he wants and be protected by parliamentary privilege from being sued etc. It's gonna get good!

Erica? Nicola? Sarah?

...By seance?

Mentally how?

I'm much more likely to believe and trust someone openly talking about the inner political rot than someone hiding it. Isnt that much more mentally questionable, constant and consistant lying?

They probs hooked up here: https://www.parliament.nz/en/visit-and-learn/how-parliament-works/office-of-the-speaker/press-rel...
