Mark Hamill in my local cinema's ad

Mark Hamill in my local cinema's ad

I like how they used CGI to make Mark's hand look human.

Not gonna lie if Mark Hamill wanted my popcorn I’d give him the whole tub

TIL the Spanish title for Episode VIII uses the plural form of Jedi.

His dad cut it off you see.

I paid $16 for this popcorn, I'm not sharing.

Mark Hamill is one of the coolest guys in the world.

To be fair the English title might as well.

I find your lack of kindness disturbing

Domestic violence is no joke, people!

From my point of view, kindness is disturbing.

I love the guy. He comes off as extremely humble, and his sense of humour is great, almost bizarre too.

Agreed, though it was interesting to hear Rian say on Jimmy Kimmel that he thought it was singular and referring to Luke as the last Jedi. He might have just been misdirecting though...

Mark Hamill is the very best. I really hope this movie gives him a ton of extra exposure and let's him do whatever passion projects he wants to do.

Yes, obviously the original trilogy is popular, but this will be the first time he gets reexposed to the general public after decades of doing less flashy roles like animation.

Millions of families suffer every year Jim! Michael!

From my point of view the Jedi are plural!

It's always Sunny fans

Doesn't that look like Dennis and Rickety Cricket?

I think his phrasing was interesting, though. He said something like "Well, when I wrote it at the time. in my head, when it wrote it, it was referring to Luke." Makes me wonder if over the course of development it took on a new meaning.

But he gets popcorn without asking. Is it possible to learn this power?

And not just the popcorn, but the momcorn and children of the corn too!

Only a Randian deals in absolutes!

look at mr. worldwide over here :O

Not from a je- wait... hm... I need to go home and rethink my life.

I dunno, I can hear The Joker in my head right now and it’s...alarming. Maybe flashy isn’t the right word, but blood-chilling and Iconic, certainly.

Honestly, I don't even care that he's Luke Skywalker. He's the fucking Joker! He's the voice of like, everyone in Regular Show. He's a dozen characters in Johnny Bravo and Cow and Chicken. He's mother fucking Firelord Ozai from Avatar!

He's been in Metalocalypse, cameo'd in Boondocks, Batman: Brave and Bold, tons of Scooby Doo characters, he voices Harrison Ford, Luke Skywalker, AND himself in Robot Chicken, he was The Trickster, he was in Billy and Mandy, he's the Evil Cat from Powerpuff Girls, he was in Hey! Arnold, and he voiced himself in Freakazoid! Plus he's voiced himself a dozen times in The Simpsons. He was in Afro Samurai, he was the Hanukkah Zombie from Futurama where he rapped with Coolio, and to top it all off, he was the Py-Ro the Fire Elemental from Crash Bandicoot on N64!

I'd give him a hug not for Star Wars, but for being the voice of SO MANY characters from my childhood. He might be my #1 'have lunch with a famous person' selection. Stephen Colbert is a close 2nd.

and I think the German version does too

Cinepolis are in many countries. According to Wikipedia, they're in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Spain, India and the United States. I've used them in at least three of those.

I suppose this is a Mexican ad, I wonder why I hadn't seen it before...

This is one he did for Alamo Drafthouse. Was pretty good as well. :)

The death toll is catastrophic!

Well it depends on your point of view.

Ahh good ol' cinepolis!

You're not wrong, but if you subscribe to /sub/starwars then Mark Hamill has already brought more joy to your life than a $16 bucket of popcorn ever could.

I call him cool hand Luke!

Mark Hamill is rich! He can buy his own fucking popcorn. I'd share though.

Yeah, it's just much more explicit in Spanish. (Dang ambiguous English and our lack of plural definite articles...)

Uno dos tres

Well then you are lost!

Who is Jabba the Hutt?

Slovak too. I suppose every language with plural form has it :)

You severely underestimate how good movie theater popcorn is

What about Fire Lord Ozai?

I thought of that, being Mexican and watching this same ad in my local cinema, but then I remembered all the other shitty title translations we have here:

Pulp Fiction translated to "Violent Times".

La capital del cine!

>Inferring that Luke and Rey aren't the traitors.

I ate them. Every single one. They're all eaten.

Chewbacca Shrugged

Dear God, can I please be Mark Hamill for 24 hours?

Local, as in, every fucking Cinépolis in México.

Then you are lost!

Maybe buy some deathsticks along the way

Hips and nips

Now THIS is cobracing!

I love Luke as a character, but the role was definitely shadowed by Harrison Ford and James Earl Jones. Hamill didn't get to show off as much of his acting talent, especially when it comes to portraying his darker side. I'm hoping that The Last Jedi fixes that and the world gets to see the Hamill that we see.

Certainly! Same here.

Los Ultimos Jedi sounds like the coolest lucha libre tag team

Thats why your the kernel

What about the trickster?

Pulp Fiction translated to "Violent Times".

Well, that's pretty accurate...

And the Romanian title too. I think they were told to so so. The last jedi are Luke and Rey, I guess. Also Traitor might get a spot.

How wude!

I asked him, what do you think when you read "The Last Jedi", you think singular, right? He says yes. Then I say it could also be plural, he says no, that it'd be "The Last of the Jedi".

I was going through the list of premiere dates, and I found that in other languages is in plural.

From IMDB:

Country Name Argentina Star Wars: Los últimos Jedi Bosnia and Herzegovina (Croatian title) Ratovi Zvezde: Epizoda 8 - Poslednji Džedaj Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bosnian title) Ratovi Zvijezda: Epizoda 8 - Posljednji Jedi Bulgaria (Bulgarian title) Междузвездни войни: Последните джедаи Brazil Star Wars: Os Últimos Jedi Chile Star Wars: Episodio VIII - Los Últimos Jedi Chile (short version) Star Wars: Los Últimos Jedi Czech Republic Star Wars: Poslední z Jediu Germany Star Wars: Die letzten Jedi Estonia Star Wars: Viimased jedid Spain Star Wars: Episodio VIII - Los últimos Jedi Spain (alternative title) Star Wars: Los últimos Jedi France Star Wars: Episode VIII - Les derniers Jedi France (short title) Star Wars: Épisode VIII Greece Star Wars: Οι τελευταίοι Jedi Croatia Ratovi Zvijezda: Epizoda 8 - Posljednji Jedi Hungary Star Wars: Az utolsó Jedik Italy Star Wars - Gli ultimi Jedi Italy (alternative title) Star Wars: Episodio VIII - Gli ultimi Jedi Japan Star Wars: Saigo no Jedi Lithuania Zvaigzdziu karai: paskutiniai dzedajai Poland (complete title) Gwiezdne wojny. Your opinion is valid and youre entitled to it. That said, my theater uses coconut oil to pop their popcorn, and actual butter as a topping. They do not use any oils and flavoring to mimic butter. It is so heavenly that I actually go see movies every Tuesday because of $5 ticket and $10 for a large popcorn/soda combo with free refills, even if I don't want to see a movie. They also have leather recliners with electric adjustments. I eat as much popcorn as I can, dump the rest in a plastic zip lock, then get it refilled and take the bag home. It's good for at least two days when stored in the microwave.

Cock Knocker

You forgot his most famous role though: as the

Tarkin, his arms wide.

Where's your movie theater? 1998?

He could atleast say please

Should have made him force choke on the popcorn 👉

there's no way of saying 'the last(singular) jedi' in Spanish without also revealing if it is eg)

La Ultima Jedi

El último jedi

This translation is a way of getting around potential spoilers. This title would be closer to 'the last of the jedi' which is still a close enough translation to pass.

Yur a jedi, Har-Rey

WAIT SHIT Im probably way behind the curve here, but "Los Ultimos Jedi" is the "The Last Jedi" PLURAL. Idk why or what that means but I'm excited now!!

He's a real Joker.

I'd rather eat prepackaged prepopped popcorn from walmart than theater popcorn to be honest. That flavored oil people call butter they put on it is nasty.

The thing is, it's not English to blame here. Lucas could have easily made the plural of Jedi Jedis when he invented the word. It's not like the word has any real etymology to follow and English doesn't have any rules anyway, what with the English language chasing other languages down alleyways to beat them up and steal their vocabulary.

You wanna buy some death sticks?

Oh I don't think so

A classic style

Portuguese speaker here. While Portuguese and Spanish are not exactly the same, a lot of things are similar, so I may help you. Adjectives come before or after the noun.

Some come always first, like ordinals, for example ultimo. So, just like first place, last place we have primeiro lugar, último lugar.

Others can only come after, like colors, you can only have Carro preto (Car black), Preto carro (Black Car) is wrong.

Then there are the ones that can be both. Like linda (beautiful). linda mulher (beautiful woman) is the same as mulher linda (Woman beautiful). Some of these, in Portuguese at least, have different connotations depending whether they are before or after. So Homem Grande (Man Big) and Grande Homem (Big Man) have different meanings. Grande Homem means something like great man, so, a powerful man, a strong man, a good man. Homem Grande in the other hand means big man, fat or bulky, he is big in size.

I'll try popping! That's a good trick.

Ombia not Umbia.

That's not how popcorn works. Han, choking on his popcorn (probably)

The Portuguese version is in plural as well.

Berry bombad!

I came to the comments bc I was like did he have a stroke recently? Now I can't unsee Cricket.

Krennic, when the walls fell.

Well then you are last!

I hate butter. It's hot, salty, and it gets everywhere.
