Or you know, some people just want to vent of a thing that has happened. No one is perfect, and it therefore shouldn't come as a surprise if a friend does something bizarre and you want to talk to someone about it.

Let alone is there no correlation between the two. Everyone gets annoyed one way or another, and to share your emotions and be realistic is more important than just blindly lying to your friends for the sake of being a virtue.

I tend not to trust anyone who is nice about everybody. They will never have your back.

I think "nice to everybody" and trying to please everyone are different. People can be nice and still be reliable and firm on their beliefs. It's when people change personalities to try to be more liked that they lost my trust.

It's not being an asshole. It's being real. Tell your friends that they have fucked up is more important than lying to their face about them being some virtuous angel.

Taking reservations now on the high horse.

This whole sub is basically made up of kids figuring out how life works, thinking it's somehow uncommon knowledge and trying to put it into a single profound sounding sentence

Both of your examples are complains. Which contradicts your motive of the post. Complaining in an emphatic way is still complaining.

Hey you might be an asshole but at least you have enough integrity to do it to their face

What about people who badmouth them to their face like i do
