Drivers who got overtaken the least during the 2017 season: Hamilton and Verstappen, both only 2 times.
Verstappen got overtaken by Vettel in China and by Hamilton in Brazil. Hamilton got overtaken by Verstappen in Malaysia, does anybody know the second one? Vettel got overtaken three times in 2017, 2 times by Hamilton in Spain and the US, does anybody know which the third one is?
Team that has been overtaken the least: Red Bull (9 Daniel Ricciardo, 2 Max Verstappen) and Ferrari (8 Kimi Raikkonen, 3 Sebastian Vettel), both 11 times.
Overtakes are counted when a driver keeps the place until the end of the lap, while the first lap of the race and position changes due to mechanical problems are excluded. Here is a link to the full article from Pirelli with all data about the 2017 season.
does anybody know the second one?
Maybe they counted him letting Bottas through in Hungary?
seriously, that's quite impressive with the renault engine
well, for most of the season RB was in no-mans-land on sundays. They were way ahead of the midfield but sometimes still up to 1s per lap slower than Merc and Ferrari so they weren't really fighting anybody who could overtake them.
Thanks, that one must be it
The 'fun' part is that both Daniels and Max's impressive stats are partly due to their bad car..
Verstappen wasn't overtaken very often, but he was also not driving a lot, so not a lot of opportunities.. And Daniels amount of overtakes were because he had so many grid penalties in combination with a pretty fast car.
He was overtaken by Bottas in Silverstone.
Starts and first lap doesn't count.
Bottas overtook Vettel in Silverstone
Look up the race pace per lap from Vettel, Hamilton and the Red Bulls and you will see that they were definitely a second per lap slower, sometimes even more.
Agree. RB was far slower than Fer/Merc and far faster than FI. No overtaking most of the times
It could be Bottas in UK
No, Vettel came behind the Red Bulls due to the safety car, but Verstappen did overtake Raikkonen in the first lap after the safety car came in
ah right, must have been thinking of the wrong Ferrari
