A few important notes:
Aloe is a genus containing over 500 species of flowering succulent plants. Most of them taste really gross. A Chinese woman recently thought she was eating Aloe Verde, but instead ate some Blue Agave, which is a relative of aloe, but is also toxic, bitter as hell, and its juice is natural itching powder. Its root is used to make Tequila.
Aloe Verde is also a potent laxative. It is really good for minor skin burns, however.
Can't see how you could miss it. He made it vera clear.
But they taste good, which is more important
Everything gives you cancer in California
Doesn't taste great from what i understand
fried vera, boiled vera, vera soup, vera stew...
even your comment shows the last time it was posted was over a year ago.
TIL 1 year == 6 days.
I know you can boil it down and use it in other foods. Dont remember what food though.
He (and others like him) cares because the accounts that repost this shit over and over again, not even bothering to change the title, are karma-farming bots.
We care about them being bots because those bot-fattened accounts are going to be sold to spammers and astroturfers.
We care about those accounts being sold to spammers and astroturfers because they the entire site.
Use it on the skin for healing (it pulls moisture from skin). Chop it up to put in a drink. Eat the skin as a laxative. Blend into aloe juice for stomach discomfort. It has a bit of a cooling effect and feels pretty good when rubbed on yourself, especially on sunburns which is probably what it's mostly used for.
They make the shrimp so big and tasty...
Why did you repost a 2 year old comment? https://www.reddit.com/sub/woahdude/comments/2rk1or/a_slice_of_aloe_vera/cnguweq
Kinda a dick move to chomp a dudes plant isn't it?
Yup the jello part can be added to drinks, it can be bitter but its full of good stuff. The yellow stuff on the inside of the skin is often used as a purgative (makes you poo).
That is correct. Think of a large pineapple, from which the leaves grow in one direction, and the roots grow in the other. After harvest,
Once cooked, the agave heads are transported to a milling area for sugar extraction. The cooked piñas are crushed in order to release the juice, or "aguamiel," that will be fermented. Fermentation typically takes seven to twelve days, depending on the method used.
Then it is distilled two or three times. When done, it is 'silver', but is then aged in white oak casks to produce 'reposado', or longer, for 'anejo'.
They said aloe vera drinks taste good and aren't very healthy. Because there's a ton of sugar in those drinks.
the information this provides isn't good for the community
It's actually incredibly good for the community because it helps to out karma-farming bots who sell their accounts to spammers who ruin the site for the rest of us.
I'm glad you got to see something you hadn't seen before, but if you really want to do what's best for the community, you should be downvoting these things and possibly even reporting them.
Unless you think it's good for the community that someone can
I saw today that my grocery store sells leaves of aloe vera in the vegetables section. What do people do with it?
The one with the chunks in it is weirdly satisfying.
I can't aloe you to get away with that pun.
Totally edible. Not too great to taste, but supposedly healthy.
Source : I have a lot of aloe vera
Thanks for the italics, never would have noticed that pun!
It is second from the bottom.
A bit of Aloe on a bad sunburn feels like heaven... The problem is the effect wears off after not too long so you end up slathering yourself in it every 10 minutes.
We got a Sherlock Holmes over here everybody.
I see what you did there.
My favorite is coffee (which is listed in California as a cause of cancer)... which a recent study just suggested helps people live longer and avoid heart disease, cancer, respiratory disease, stroke, and diabetes.
Who performed this study? University of Southern California
Sadly, the aloe vera drinks they sell at the asian stores aren't very healthy.
Who hasn't scratched their ear canal with the butt of their pen and then minutes later forget and start to chew on said pen?
Nobody knows what it means, but its provocative
I thought it was the heart or piña of the Agave that is used to make tequila
I just had a really hot curry. I'm imagining the relief, rubbing that on my bum hole tomorrow, will give me.
Aloe drinks are pretty good: give them a try. Usually there's sugar added.
Anyone here remember Vera Lynn?
Kinda surreal. Neat!
Vera kebab, maybe?
If oxygen is a carcinogen, we are all pretty much screwed.
It's up to everyone. Reddit can't just magically stop the bots, a significant amount of that is just naturally going to be up to the users.
If you witness a crime, do you actively encourage the criminal and then shrug it off as "well, it's up to the police to stop them"? Or do you do your part as a respectable citizen and call the police?
Huh? Real aloe has a very neutral smell. What you see in CVS, the green junk... isn't aloe at all and yeah that shit does smell rank.
Its edible and good for you, just not tasty enough to eat alone i guess
Give it time, California will start putting up signs telling people to monitor their oxygen intake and to avoid taking deep breaths.
I feel like I'm reading the transcript for "How it's made"
Everything gives you cancer
This is more true than many people realize. If everyone lived long enough they would eventually get cancer
Gets the crowd going
Roasted coffee (and many other browned foods) contains advanced glycation end-products, which are associated with aging and cancer.
It's not entirely wrong, but foods are composed of many chemicals, and the sum of them can be hard to predict.
What does that even mean
Boil it, mash it, stick it in a stew
There are delicious juices that mix in some aloe vera. Really nice and refreshing.
I think he would ask his neighbors why they care about criminals and then attack them verbally.
Yes you can and apparently it's quite healthy
Based on similar experiences, I know exactly what your face looked like. Made me smile in shared pain.
And it's so sticky :(
Memory is weird. I saw this comment and instantly remembered reading it before too.
I also found this by googling.
Aloe me to savour this beautiful picture.
