Well. You're not wrong.

I am very proud of all you young people....
I 'm 45, been on Reddit for awhile. I disagree with almost all of you politically at this stage of my life - but recognise that something has to change. And that's ok. Life is a continuum, and when I was in my early 20's I was of a similar political view to you - but totally lacked the thoughtfulness and ability to be considerate of other viewpoints, let alone the sheer engagement that most of you have which I am so impressed with.
Anyway - there are no right answers, and we have a long way to go as a country, but I feel good knowing that at least you all give a sh*t enough to engage in dialogue and have real discussion - and vote for what you believe in!!!!.
I can see what you're saying, in part. I don't know anyone who was conversant in politics in their 20s and then significantly changed their position later in life; I do know a lot of people who went with the crowd when young and then changed later when they began to form their own opinions. Having self-knowledge, a clear identity, and the maturity to hear disagreement without becoming disagreeable are markers of being a responsible citizen in a democracy.
This. You good Internet person are making me feel guilty for deliberately prodding those voters who get all fired up instead of trying to engage them in conversation. And I love it. You have only your generation to thank my friend
Most people I know voted Labour/Greens in their 20's, and predominantly National now (but NOT NECESSARILY for this election). Perhaps that's how we were as a generation.
It's also a hallmark of many of us becoming self employed etc as we have aged, and Labour failing to engage with us as voters - that may have changed for many, it probably has for me.
Irrespective, I am so happy to see so many young people engaged and thinking for themselves. I have teenage kids, and that's all I want them to do politically, look at the issues, listen to the candidates, and make up your own mind.
And personally, this subreddit has made me take a long look at some of the real issues NZ is facing.
It's also a hallmark of many of us becoming self employed etc as we have aged
I'm curious as to what about becoming self employed (or older, or any change of circumstance really) makes anyone change to National?
When I was younger I thought it was fair that high earners to pay more tax. Now I'm an older (40s) self employed high earner I still think high earners should pay more tax; perhaps even more so now I'm more cognisant about the realities of politics and the global economy.
I'd gladly pay 5, maybe 10c more in the top bracket if it meant everyone (regardless of employment or criminal history) had shelter, food, warmth, energy, and internet, access to healthcare, free tertiary education, a clean environment, well funded infrastructure and emergency services, etc.
But eve ate the apple right?
RESPECC WAMEN!!! 😤😡
For this meme to work one of the text boxes (normally the one on the left) has to have a sophisticated sentence and then the one on the right has something to do with boi. It doesn't work with two boi formats.
Eve is not important.. She's a woman.
That's why i'm here:p
Just saw that and someone commented this subreddit ^
Butterfly effect. One day we will spread the wisdom of Calvin and Hobbes to the youth of the future; all because of one comment on reddit.
I somehow wasnt subscribed. Wtf?
Shuffle at a moderate speed like your life depends on it!!
Shit that dude in front of that store is calm as fuuuuuck.
That's... a mannequin...
Id hate to be so old that my A-game survival tactic is waddling awkwardly
Yeah, that's so not true. Unfortunately it's often the loudmouth who get's in over their head and starts swinging. The strong silent thing is mostly a trope. Source: paramedic, respond to a lot of bar fights.
The guy who threatens to punch you in a bar never punches you.
The guy who is going to punch you just punches you.

“Only open, bipartisan approaches can achieve true, lasting reforms,”
Erm, yeah? Isn't that precisely the reason for the current situation? The previous reform is on the cusp of being dissolved because it was neither an open nor bipartisan effort.
The only problem with his 4D chess is that his moves are so intricate they even fool half of his supporters, same with DACA
President Trump moves so quickly that the Dems can't keep pace. Establishment GOP struggles to keep step as well. I love it. Just when they think they have POTUS beat, he's run 3 more circles around them.
As soon as I read that the governor's letter was a bipartisan effort against the new GOP bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, I knew that the Republican governor who signed the letter had been Kasich, the sore loser and traitor.
IT'S TIME TO CALL OUR SENATORS AND LET THEM KNOW WHAT US, THEIR ACTUAL VOTERS AND POTENTIAL VOTERS WANT and also remind them that, no matter how much libtards praise the Republican traitors for voting against repealing Obamacare, they will NEVER vote for a Republican.
He looks like Mike on purpose, right?
Why this dude look like he could jump on a track and yell a mean ass Shamone or yeeHEE adlib
Well, is she? Is she okay?
Is this a new campaign or something? I've seen this same question several times over the past week.
60, huh? Just curious. How old are you?
I am 26 and drive a ton. I deliver food for a living and my parents live 3 hours from me. My girlfriends parent love 3 hours in the opposite on the direction, so are always on the road.
My parents will both be 60 next year and they are both already declining in driving ability. Is that actually the case? Maybe not, maybe they're just lazy with it now that they're older. Either way they make traffic more difficult and are generally unpleasant to be in a vehicle with.
I just want to feel safe when I'm driving. I don't want to worry about someone on their phone killing me or my family. I know too many people that are gone because of bad decisions or just not even paying attention.
Edit- also I had 10 points on my license for 18 months and have a clean record again. The system worked for me, I don't speed, I make complete stops, etc. I used to drive like a total dick, not the type of person I want to share a road with.
Can we lower it to 30? Fuckin soccer moms are worse than the elderly
