Seems logical since it is part of the Volkswagen Group.

Pretty much none of them really meet the standard. These days, it happens to be about Fiat Chrysler, but it seems that it's a general problem.

Somewhat ironically, when you look at the measurements, VW cars still tend to be among the somewhat less bad of the bunch, comparatively.

It can't be that difficult to properly test emissions. Yes, weather, traffic conditions, and of course the actual route all have an effect, so you can't just take a car on a drive and measure what comes out, but you can do that to check if the lab condition results are in the same ballpark.

Good, it's a sorry state if companies and manufacturers can just make up false reports and stats for PR status. Hopefully some good ol' suing takes place

They only admitted it because they were cold fucking busted.

Still grossly overvalued.

Good. Maybe GPUs will drop in price too.

This is good for Bitcoin.

Bitcoin isn't mined using GPUs, altcoins are. Bitcoin is mined with ASICs.

That said, the other main cryptos are falling in price, and if Ethereum (which is mined using GPUs) drops in much the same way, there won't be as much reason to mine using GPUs

What? The claim was never missile defense doesn't work, it works under perfect conditions, in a controlled environment, and when there aren't many missiles.

The argument is there's no way to end MAD using missile defense systems with current technology.

China intercepting a single missile in a controlled environment does not mean missile defense works on any real level.

This isn't even getting into the fact in a real scenario there would be countermeasures making it even worse.

UK built half of Europe's offshore wind power in 2017.

Austria, Hungary and Slovakia disappointingly built zero offshore wind power in 2017.

I see what you did there.

And their net wind electricity generation is still going down. To be fair these are 2016 stats. I guess the chart will look a lot better with new data.

Evil racist Brexity country invests in wind turbines.

Enlightened liberal European country invests in coal.

Dow tumbles 1,100 points in biggest one-day fall since 2011

Well Donald, you have implicitly tethered the stock markets performance to yourself so... what the fuck man??? what happened?

Presumably Trump will recognise his part in this just as he has in the Dow Jones' recent gains.

And remember, Donald J. Trump literally believes that this means we just went $1 trillion further into debt. The following quote is literally a thing the President of the United States said 4 months ago when the stock market was up:

The country — we took it over and owed over 20 trillion. As you know the last eight years, they borrowed more than it did in the whole history of our country. So they borrowed more than $10 trillion, right? And yet, we picked up 5.2 trillion just in the stock market. Possibly picked up the whole thing in terms of the first nine months, in terms of value. So you could say, in one sense, we’re really increasing values. And maybe in a sense we’re reducing debt. But we’re very honored by it. And we’re very, very happy with what’s happening on Wall Street.

Obama's fault

two things went through my mind almost immediately when reading this.

1.) "Finally, something we're doing right about homelessness"

then

2.) "Oh this literally means we have a 'come back when you are literally dying' view of homelessness"

Not sure how I feel about this, I guess it's positive, but we have a long way still to go.

MPs make more than 90% of the people. They can’t be bothered with homelessness. https://www.opendemocracy.net/uk/ed-jones/these-figures-show-how-out-of-touch-uk-politicians-are-...

So, maybe we should requisition all the housing and split it between everybody that needs it?

While we are doing that we can also take over the factories and put them under worker control to establish socialism.

The solution to sky-rocketing house prices is not to be a monster toward incredibly unfortunate people, especially sick ones. You sound heartless. One day you could be homeless, and then you might change your tune. Sky rocketing prices are a symptom of greed and lack of empathy, symptoms you seem to already be showing. You seem to be part of the problem way more than homeless people are.

It's about time, we need to get rid of it everywhere. It just creates extra confusion with timezones.

It's about time,

Correct

Can we do that in the states too? IIRC studies have shown that there's a massive increase in accidents around each of the switches. Also, in general, messing with people's sleep schedules/cycles is NOT a good thing.

My vote will always be that we stay on daylight savings year round. Get that extra hour in the evening!
