On ya, 'straya!
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 90%. (I'm a bot)
Australia, which changed the law in 2004 to say that marriage is only between a man and a woman, now joins 24 countries which recognise same-sex marriage.
In a bruising three-month campaign, opponents of marriage equality claimed same-sex marriage would have far-reaching negative consequences for gender education and claimed it would harm religious freedom and freedom of speech.
The yes camp's Equality Campaign combined with moderate Liberals, Labor, the Greens, unions and the progressive campaign organisation Get Up to argue that same-sex marriage was a matter of equality and fairness.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's government introduced the bill after Australians overwhelmingly voted in support of same-sex marriage in a national vote.
It will become law after being approved without amendments.
Finally! Such a great day for our nation.
Yes to love!
Now everyone has an equal opportunity to be miserable!
EDIT: 'Has', I was far too excited!
Hillary didn’t support this until 2013 progressive my butt

SAME-sex marriage has been made legal in Australia after politicians voted in a landslide today to pass the historic bill.
Earlier, same-sex marriage opponent Kevin Andrews was slammed on social media for his final speech on same sex marriage just moments before the final vote.
MPs voted down a series of amendments on the same-sex marriage bill this morning but were unable to conclude debate before the beginning of Question Time at 2pm AEDT. Another amendment on legal protections for charities was voted down at about 3.30pm. It's expected a final vote could be held before 6pm. Malcolm Turnbull refused to cancel Question Time today to continue the debate on the remaining amendments.
So awesome seeing people pack into the "aye" side of the house for the final vote. Less than five against. :)
To all my fellow Aussies I am, you are, we are Australian!
Except for Bob Katter, he's just a cunt.
Good job Australia.
Let's all get drunk!
I didn't think this day would come for a long time. This comes after months of a national optional survey conducted by the government on the topic, full of arguments and some very rude graffiti everywhere, which ended with a 61% majority for Yes. Had it not been a majority this government would not have passed it.
Will you, Bruce, take Bruce as your lawfully wedded husband? Yes, I didgeridoo, m8
Didgeridoo your wedding yet?
I've never regretted a single moment of my wedding day up until I read the words "Yes, I didgeridoo, m8".
I'm gonna have to remarry my missus.
EDIT: Because I can't spell good and stuff.
Now we can focus on the important things like those bloody crocodiles!
Oh, that's where we put them.
I thought they confirmed this a couple of weeks ago?
How long till Hilary gets blamed?
Did she back the promote / uprising? Legit question, I was under the impression her and John Mcain were the primary people pushing it several years ago.
If only poor people brains were as valuable as the wealth created by that pollution.
Air pollution is also being linked to dementia. It isn't just babies.
That's a pretty harsh way to describe San Francisco, but accurate.
Republicans rejoice at the influx of future voters
well, I guess she meant it.
If anyone I know brings this up, I'm just going to pretend that I don't know who this is.
Unnecessary plastic surgery will do that to ya.
She got into a Twitter fight because people thought she was being homophobic simply because she didn't want to shoot a scene with a man who shot gay porn.
She got so antagonized about it that it lead to this.
She believed that she was putting herself at risk working with a man who worked with men before because they don't go under the same protocol for testing for STIs and the like.
She was wrong (gay porn actors DO get tested) but people took it way wrong and were calling her homophobic.
She died for no reason. People drove someone over the edge simply taking precautions.
That fire has been burning since 1948.
The whole world has always been batshit crazy. It's just more noticeable in the age of information.
I am the only one who thinks the whole world is going bat shit crazy?
I'd since at least the end of WW1.
Let's say you have a friend you generally get along with well. As with any friendship, there are times you slightly drift apart and there are times you stick together more closely. You don't always agree with everything your friend says or is up to, but you can always respect his point of view because you understand how he came to the decision. Then one day your friend gets super high. Wasted. He declares your friendship obsolete, spews profanity and shits on the floor. He might sober up a few days later and you might act friendly towards him again.
But you're never going to forget that time he took a dump on the carpet and you'll always worry if it might happen again.
Yea and 3 generations ago the german people elected a man who subsequently caused some of the worst crimes against humanity and initiated the bloodiest war in human history...
Saying relations will "never" be the same is just ridiculous.
Yeah. The problem isn't one leader who sucks. The problem is that the American people elected this leader and the American people will not be as trusted as they were in the past.
Relations have not been and will never be the same after those events.
The Germans know exactly what their place in history is, and they've been working rather directly to address it. Neither they nor anyone else has dusted their hands off and said, 'Well, what's done is done, let's forget about the whole thing.'
