Binging with Babish: Szechuan Sauce Revisited (From Real Sample!)

Six :(

And I do not recommend making your own nuggets haha

Thanks for posting /u/QuDubz!! And thank you /u/therealduckie for the sample of your winnings - I hope this allows many many folks at home to try the storied condiment for themselves. Sorry for the delayed post today, last week was fucking nutty, I literally finished the voice-over like 30 minutes ago!

1/2 Cup Water

1/2 Cup White Vinegar

1/2 Cup White Sugar

1/2 Cup Soy Sauce

1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar

1/2 tsp Sesame Oil

1/4 tsp Garlic Powder

1/4 tsp Onion Powder

1/4 tsp Ground Ginger

? Marmite

? Corn Syrup

? Black pepper

2 Tbsp Corn Starch

1 tsp Xanthan Gum

The amount of effort this guy puts into his cooking is unbelievable. I wonder how many tries it took to get the correct ratio of the laundry list of ingredients.

Also he made his own nuggets, which is cool.

This isn't racism. The worst you can call what he did is him being "racially insensitive"

This redefining of the term racism to not consider context or intent anymore is getting out of hand. Unless you find me evidence that he believes one race is better or worse than any other, I'm not going to call him racist.

Using a word that offends people when not even referring to the group of people it was designed to offend doesn't make you a hateful person.

Should he stop saying that shit? Absolutely. Do we need to crucify him for this instance? Nope. I find this guy annoying as fuck but what's more annoying is how overboard people will go to try to ruin someone's life these days if they aren't being perfectly PC.

Huge fuckup on his part, but frankly I don't believe he's racist. However he reaches a large audience, and you don't want them thinking it's ok, or using this incident to justify their own racism. Hopefully this apology will help with that.

I don't believe he meant it as in "YOU BLACK PERSON" it was meant as "YOU BAD WORD", exchangeable with any other swear word (I'm not excusing that in anyway though).

The same way when you just compared it to "cunt". Many people would say that you just called that person a women as an insult. You could even say the same about bitch as that is used as a double barrel of "you are a women and a dog". Now I know you in the context of what you are saying that cunt was not meant as a slight to women but I can imagine a more sensitive or difference audience might not. I many women who are very offended by cunt for that very reason but of course many who are not offended because they know I'm not insulting women.

Sometime the way your words come across are not as intended and are perceived differently.

That said, obviously, what he said should never have been said in a public environment where anyone can misunderstand what you said and personally I would not be saying it in a private environment either. It's not the kind of thing people want to hear even if you could get away with it currently with the shitty state of race relations.

The thing for me is that he used a word to describe a race to call someone an asshole.

So if I instead of calling you a cunt, call you a white person. Doesn't seem good to me, not to mention the word he used has backstory. .

This has nothing to do with not being perfectly PC, it is just that in the context he said it it's bad.

I don't think he is a racist, but why in the world would you have that word on speed dial when calling someone a dickhead.

Too many people in here thinking this is real...

Uh 1 grain of rice a day? This must be fake.

When satire perfectly proves a point, but the issue being highlighted is so deeply rooted that people don't even notice it's satire and therefore completely miss the point...

10/10 but the world is still fucked.

Well the video is satire.

ESPN sideline reporter Sergio Dipp has a rough start.

ESPN sideline reporter Sergio Dipp has a rough start.

He's sounds like a non-native English speaker trying to hit the word count on an essay.

That's actually pretty much exactly what that was. He was there for ESPN's Spanish broadcast.

I got a fever, and the only cure is more Sergio Dipp

That's what I figured. Gotta say, I would do much worse on live national television giving a sideline report in Spanish.

This just warms my heart. Well, actually it's the deep-fried mayonnaise balls dipped in pure freedom that's warming my heart.

9/11 was a conspiracy. People had to conspire someplace in order to bring it to fruition. It's literally the definition of a conspiracy.

Well yeah, and fuck those actual conspiracy guys as well.

British Comedian David Mitchell on atheists

British Comedian David Mitchell on atheists

Atheism doesn't make people reasonable or smart and religion doesn't make some one dumb or illogical. I'm an atheist and I can tell you that I distanced myself from atheists groups locally and online because they're much more concerned about being right than anything else and seem to think that because they think logically when it comes to religion it makes them qualified to fix all the worlds problem and anybody who's religious is just there to harm which couldn't be farther from the truth.

Agnosticism and atheism aren't incompatible. I am an atheist agnostic.

I hold no disdain for people who hold comfort in their beliefs, even if I think those beliefs are unsupported.

I do not want to eradicate any belief system.

I simply don't know whether there is a higher power, I don't believe there is, and I'll just carry on my life thinking those things, leaving you alone as long as you leave me alone.

Yes. And an atheist as well.

Agnostic means I don't know whether or not there's a higher power.

Atheist means I do not believe in any higher powers.

Theism is a belief in a higher power. Atheism is a lack of theism.

Everyone uses words differently. Definitions change. But, here's my understading of the terms in question.

Do you believe in a God?

Yes = Theist - No = Atheist

Do you believe we can know that for sure?

Yes = Gnostic - No = Agnostic

Atheism and Agnotsticism are not mutually exclusive. In fact, everyone has to both one way or the other. Gnostic Theist, Gnostic Atheist, Agnostic Theist, or Agnostic Atheist. Most people, religous or not, will land in the agnostic column. For example: for me, I believe the odds of a god existing are infinitesimally small so I assume and live my life as if there isn't one (atheist). But I don't believe I know that for sure, or that anyone can ever know it for sure (agnostic).

Just my two cents.

getting into a conversation in a language you don't actually speak that well

getting into a conversation in a language you don't actually speak that well

As an American born Asian-American, this is pretty much how conversations go with my grandparents.

The problems you have when it looks like you speak the language...

This is totally me, as a pretty brown Hispanic who has a very tenuous grasp on Spanish, it's soo frustrating and anxiety inducing when people start going off in Spanish and I can only reply at a 2nd grade level at best :/

The Sonic the Hedgehog countdown triggered some anxiety from a long, long time ago. When I was younger and that tune started up, I would frantically jump up and down, not wanting to drown in those underwater levels. I miss those days of jumping up down without getting dizzy or tweaking a hammy.

To those who read this, always remember to stretch!

"you're just gonna take his hard earned money?"

Not entirely sure how the officer got the vendor's wallet in his hands, but that definitely is not how civil forfeiture works.

Another cop watching the video here - disgusted.

I'm all for enforcing laws because that's what I took an oath to do. But we're also here to protect people. Taking all his money doesn't help anyone, especially him. If he's doing that job he's hardly got loads of cash. And respect to the guy for not sitting back and claiming benefits.

Just move him on or report him, whatever the procedure is. Taking his cash from his wallet is just going too far and is disgusting. It makes me sad to see a fellow cop treating a person this way and using such a cocky attitude towards the public who on this occasion are right - he shouldn't take the cash.

How does the cop decide what money was made from the hot dog stand and what was already in his wallet for a cash bank? This just grosses me out so much. He's essentially stealing from this guy.
