Well, Sessions also invented a privilege that doesn't exist so he didn't have to answer questions. Until someone with authority holds them accountable this will be an effective strategy.
Just so we’re all clear, Donald Trump Jr. isn’t an attorney. Donald Trump Sr. isn’t an attorney, either. Neither is a client of the other.
And yet, the president’s son, unwilling to answer questions about a key area of interest, decided that since there was a lawyer around during a conversation with his father, he can now refuse to answer the Intelligence Committee’s questions.
No, seriously. That’s what he said.
First, this is nutty, even for Trump World. The attorney-client privilege exists to shield conversations between … wait for it … attorneys and clients. Trump Jr. appears to be making up a privilege out of whole cloth.
The grand jury is coming. Fuck these chickenshit political bullshit committee show investigations. Be afraid Donny Jr.. You are going to the slammer.
And two other Trump officials did it before Sessions. At this point, "flatly refusing to answer questions because you know Republicans won't do shit about it" is a tried-and-true strategy.
The benefit of Franken resigning, that everyone is ignoring, is that the democrats now have free reign to bludgeon the GOP on this since they are clearly the party of sexual predators. That's why no GOPers attacked Franken yesterday...Fox news even defended him. The know this is a losing issue for them
IDGAF who the democratic senator from Minnesota is. I care about winning.
Makes me wonder if Franken sacrificed himself so that the Democrats could use his resignation as a weapon against others. I know Franken's probably fed up, and knows the accusations are going to haunt him forever, but... seems like as much tactical move as it is a resignation itself.
Al was great for his ability to call shit like it is. He's a straight shooter who isn't afraid to declare shenanigans. I'm hoping his successor can bring more of that to the table. Franken's take downs using basic logic were pretty legendary.
Big picture what do the democrats lose?
We are going to get another democrat vote to replace him short term and if a MN election isn't a democrat lock in 2018 nothing is.
I liked Al's snark like others, but the blue team doesn't lose a lot here.
Everything changed when the Fire Americans attacked.
Punctuation It, Matters.
The problem with number one is they can hire a bunch of Temps like my company does for 3 months and lay them off. They get their tax breaks, but they aren't real jobs.
Hey! Don't forget the paper americans, scissors americans and the rock americans, you insensitive clod.
Trump is such a dipshit that may provoke real change by raising the level of disgust.
Look at the "Me Too" movement. You needed a completely classless loser like Trump to really get that rolling.
In the Middle East, this disgusting move to incite violence may actually move the world away from American leadership, which might in turn create the chance for real peace in the Middle East.
Evangelicals are going to take this world to the precipice.
Israel should take a long look at itself and it's leadership for getting into bed with Trump. They thought he would help them, but he's really just a loudmouth blowhard that is opening the worlds eyes to the fact that Israel treats palestinians like Hitler treated jews in Germany. Israel has forgotten the lessons of the past and are repeating them. Not a smart move.
To be fair, they were actimg like dicks. It's not like those resolutions came out of nowhere just to harrass some Jews or something.
Do it for CHIP and DACA
… the reason Chip’s having trouble is because we don’t have money any more. And to just add more and more spending and more and more spending …Senator Orrin Hatch - December 3, 2017
They don't have the money any more because they let the program expire and then gave all the money to their wealthy donors. Hatch, and every member of the GOP in Congress, belong on chain gangs. Stealing health care from children is a crime against humanity.
What the fuck is wrong with Republicans? We're are talking about healthcare for children.
That was the debt ceiling brinkmanship (2011), not the government shutdown (2013).
Eh, it's a mild misquote. I was expecting FAR worse, like him injecting some half-assed anti-Muslim sentiment into FDR's speech.
“National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day — ‘A day that will live in infamy!’ December 7, 1941,” he tweeted. When Roosevelt delivered the remarks 76 years ago, he actually declared Dec. 7 as “a date which will live in infamy,” after the surprise attack left more than 2,000 military personnel dead.
It's moreso the situation which surrounded the quote which should've drawn him to make the effort of a 4th grader and look up the quote before sharting out word salad.
I don't think 45 tweeted this, it was a social media person. That being said. The first tweet got the date wrong. Said 11/7/1941. So even when someone else tweets, they still don't do any proof reading or second set of eyes.
They're only the party of "Law & Order" when they get to invent the "Laws," and apply the "Order" subjectively.
Edit: Putting this front and center while we're all still hanging out up here. You can't "see" the parts of the message you like, and ignore the rest. You have two choices here... See the whole thing, or...
Every time - Someone pops up and has to bring race into a situation where it needn't be. Righteous or not, it's ultimately irrelevant.
Either it's a problem for everyone, or it's not a problem. I think it's a fucking problem.
Anyone have the transcript? Preferably with it in large, indiscriminately bolded, neon-boxed, comic sans font with bad capitalization and inconsistent bullet points? I'd like to send it to some people in a format that matches the way they regularly consume their news.
"Entertainers should stay out of politics!", said the Trump voter, with no hint of irony.
The people that criticize Seth tend to have some fallacy riddled response and one can assume these people are mostly just triggered.
... In Minnesota - here in Texas, we got a Lt. Governor on trial for securities fraud or something so...
As long as she is qualified, sounds good to me.
I see what you are saying, but there are clear advantages to him leaving now. If he leaves now, it will send a clear signal that the Democratic Party is now a party that takes accusers seriously, and supports the perception as the party of zero tolerance for sexual assault. This wasn’t always the case, at one time it was common to blame the victim regardless of party, but this stance is important in the era of #metoo.
The Lieutenant Governor is unqualified? Excuse me? Ellison is less qualified because Smith has experience running s statewide campaign.
Incoming Trump tweet bashing Vonn in 3...2...1...
"Unattractive Lindsey Vonn should stick to what she knows best - losing! Other Olympic athletes are proud to represent America and their favorite president (me). Sad!"
I had this battle when he won the nomination. At the time the U.S. Men Soccer team had some pretty important WC qualifiers and I felt thoroughly dirty wearing my USA jersey after. But then I thought that I can represent something other than that. I decided that it would be my family. Helped me through it.
Eh how do you figure?
Our constitution created a system where we can elect a man who lost by 3,000,000 votes.
Our values are most certainly reflected by the people we choose to represent us in government.
Our freedoms allowed a man with no relevant experience who was flagrantly unqualified to become the leader of the Free world.
Our failures... Nothing represents our collective national failures bettee than Donald Trump.
Um, America is 100% Trump right now because he's actively destroying our image with the entire world, and likely starting multiple wars in the process as well. How many people have died in middle east protests since yesterday's Jerusalem announcement?
Damn, Carson is definitely going to do that now. We got ‘em, folks.
He’s a great alternative to Kyle McLaughlin (sp).
It's political theater, it's not meant to persuade Carson
