Is there any chance any of this will actually matter? Is there anyone in government with the power and will to act on whatever incriminating information might come out?
The FBI is not congress. There are agents that believe in the rule of law and country before politics. They aren't looking for reelection.
There are whispers and hints on twitter over the last couple days from some pretty prominent followers of the story that the FBI is close to indictment recommendations for some people, possibly as soon as next week. They have also been saying that people are going to be shocked at the number of people that end up roped into this all. Supposedly our allies may have come through huge with lots of intel that they passed on to their counterparts here in the US. There are also rumblings the NY Attorney General is working on separate RICO charges related to organized crime.
We'll see what comes of these rumors...
So is this Comey guy actually interested in investigating and prosecuting if they find anything? I'm honestly asking, I see these stories all the time, but have never seen anyone with real power face any sort of accountability. Bush had to throw some people under the bus, but not the real decision makers. I'm at the point where I don't believe the people on top of our government and economic systems are sanctionable at all.
Let me point out that the sure sign of a successful business leader is that he has no problems finding funding. He can call on the same investors over and over because he's a safe bet.
The sure sign of a con-man is that he moves through investors and constantly has to range farther and farther afield for money.
The fact that Trump has to go to Russia for his funding proves, without a doubt, he's a business idiot. Truly a horrible businessman, but a successful con-man.
without a doubt, he's a business idiot
We've now had a close-up look at his management style and I think it's fair to say it sucks balls. I often wondered how someone could go broke running a fucking casino ... and now we know why.
Please let this be accurate and be the thing that brings him down.
I feel like I say that at least once a week. God Dammit.
He built the world's biggest casino next to an already successful one that he had owned. It is like Mr. Krabs building the Krusty Krab 2 right next to the bloody Krusty Krab.
Also, I feel like we're in a season of Spongebob Squarepants. Trump is literally Mr. Krabs. Ivanka is Pearl. His most ardent supporters that are loyal are Spongebob and the ones that are plain as day stupid are Patrick. Then, the hoi polloi who have actually deal with this are Squidward and Mrs. Puff. And then there is Plankton.
Funny how he tries to use the argument that the election is over yet he's actively raising funds for 2020 and holding rallies being run by his campaign.
President Trump lashed out Sunday at the protesters who took part in marches across the country Saturday to demand that he release his tax returns, declaring on Twitter that “The election is over!”
“I did what was an almost an impossible thing to do for a Republican — easily won the Electoral College! Now Tax Returns are brought up again?” Trump said in one tweet Sunday morning.
I just... I have no words...
Impossible thing to do = something that happens 50% of the time?
Now if he won the popular vote, that would have been a notable accomplishment for Republican.
If he's still around in 2020 he'll probably complain when people actively run against him as well. "Why are you calling out my ineffectiveness as President? I won!"
Congresswoman Maxine Waters was front and center calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump during the Tax March in Washington on Saturday.
“I don't respect this president. I don't trust this president. He's not working in the best interests of the American people,” Waters said. “I will fight every day until he is impeached.”now if only more dems were as honest.
The Democrats can be persuaded without much difficulty that Trumps needs to be removed from power. But so far, no one on the GOP side is broaching that topic and that's what needs to occur.
They're waiting until after they pass all the evil stuff that voters hate so then they can impeach him and blame him for it.
I'd rather have Trump and the Republicans be beaten in the ballots, since impeachment only fuels their shitty self-victimization and martyrdom.
If he breaks a law and it is provable under court, then have it.
Scientists are skeptics. They are skeptical of experimental results, of data quality, of breakthroughs, of objectivity. Scientists are the ultimate skeptics which is why they test, check, check again, have other people replicate and check.
Conservatives are just anti-science. They are not skeptics.
Can't be said enough. Climate deniers for example are trying to rebrand as "climate skeptics" to sound legit.
Came to check on hunch he was a Democrat. Left without disappointment.
The difference is that that's not what climate change denialists, creationists, anti-vaxers or moon landing hoaxers mean when they call themselves "skeptics". What they mean is "I have already decided that I don't like your evidence or conclusions, as it contradicts and undermines my conclusion which I'd already decided on. So, I'll deny it outright, and if logic and reason themselves support your argument, then they must be attacked as well."
They just call it "skepticism" because that's a better sales pitch than "empirical reality denialist". Deep down, at least some of them know they're full of it, which is why they often attack the scientific process and reason itself.
No problem, I organized the Tax March in Northwest Arkansas. I'll show him on my taxes that I wasn't paid for it. So long as he shows me his.
"I did what was an almost an impossible thing to do for a Republican-easily won the Electoral College! Now Tax Returns are brought up again?"
The Electoral College favors Republicans, dipshit.
"Someone should look into who paid for the small organized rallies," Trump tweeted a day after thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in more than 150 cities across the country.
Love the narrative he's trying to assemble: protesters are paid, there aren't many of them, and they're organized... by somebody.
Probably somebody scary. But not the Rusians, amirite, Don?
"Trump himself used paid actors to pose as rally attendees during his campaign."
Says the guy who keeps bringing up the election 6 months later because he's got nothing else going for him.
Also says the guy who began running for reelection in January
In a way that is a good sign, at least he is aware of the protestors and it is worrying him enough that he is tweeting again in his defense.
First it was "they are under audit", then "no one cares" and now it is 'fuck you I'm the president' (God King who is above the law).
EDIT: The other interesting thing to note is that possibly Trump is starting to understand that the election is over! Next he will be saying "I hardly knew that 'election'"...
Well, he really doesn't understand politics. It's one of the qualities that got him elected. He's basically just a door to door salesman that moonlights as a game show host.
I think the takeaway this week is we continue to learn of connections between people close to Trump and Russia. I mean, there's the people we've been talking about. There's the former national security adviser, Michael Flynn. There's the current attorney general, Jeff Sessions. There's Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and adviser, who, by the way, is number one on the list of people who the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is investigating, say they want to talk to. None of these people are accused of criminal wrongdoing. On the other hand, none of them have been especially forthcoming about contacts that they have had with Russian officials. So you have this drip, drip, drip that continues to cloud these early months of the Trump presidency and continues to raise questions about whether this White House might be vulnerable to foreign influence.
The noose is tightening a little more every day.
On the other hand, none of them have been especially forthcoming about contacts that they have had with Russian officials.
Yeah this is the part that gets me. If you're not guilty you have literally no reason to go in and say "yeah, we grabbed a couple of burgers and talked about the prospect of expanding Major League Baseball into Russia. Also we talked about if Avatar 2 is gonna tank or not."
But since they won't say anything everyone is obviously just gonna think "yeah, we talked about destroying everything from the inside out."
You go in and clear your name and you're golden. Keep hiding and we'll we'll want you charged with something.
So, say all of our fears and suspicions are true. He did every wrong he could do to win the election. What happens? Will it be years of denial and sidestepping? Will this be a hindrance to Trump's reelection? Will he don his teflon and get away with everything?
Big difference is that many of these guys are trying to get clearances. You are required to disclose contacts with foreign nationals and they still aren't doing it.
"Once again Obama fails to classify China as a currency manipulator. He just helped China steal even more jobs and money from us."
Traded all those jobs and money for something that isn't even our problem.
It's incredible that he still fails to realize that not only do tweets stay on the internet forever, but that they are searchable...why even try to fight it at this point? He literally made it part of his campaign platform that he would renegotiate our disastrous trade deals with China since they were devaluing their currency and hurting us economically as a result. Add one more campaign promise that will never be fulfilled. But don't worry, at least his golf game is getting plenty of work.
Literally made it part of his platform
That's nothing. He literally PLEDGED to do it on DAY ONE in his 'Contract with America'.
I guess Donald is helping China steal all these jorbs
And when their family members pick up arms against us, the right will claim that "they hate us for our freedom"
The group said that 268 strikes were carried out on Iraq and 434 were carried out on Syria within the month of March alone, killing at least 1,782 civilians and as many as 3,471.
So happy Trump is golfing and generals are running the show... Must be the time of their lifes. They get to try out all of the toys. They even got to finally use the MOAB.
Dear fucking God I can't believe more people commit terror attacks in the west given how we slaughter so many of them per month, talk about terrorism, a never ending stream of robots from the sky blowing up you country.
If there is one thing the US can do to create more "terrorists," it's killing innocent civilians and their loved ones.
Just imagine if a foreign nation sent drones into the US and killed your dad, mom, son, or daughter. I'm pretty sure we'd all take up arms in anger and anguish.
