Nintendo bringing old Wii U games to the switch is actually their best idea.

Nintendo bringing old Wii U games to the switch is actually their best idea.

Many people do not own a Wii U, let's face it. I am friends with many Nintendo lovers and I know maybe three people with one. This is where the opportunity for the switch to shine comes in. By Nintendo bringing games such as Bayonetta 2, and now Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, this paves the way for more people do actually experience these fantastic titles. This is ironically, carrying the legacy of the Wii U into Nintendo's next console generation. It's smart. They know more people are buying the switch, and therefore, more people are wanting to experience these older games that missed out on it last console. Many people will complain about porting, but it's also imPORTant to realize just how many people have never gotten to play these older titles, and their excitement should be just as easily justified as those who want a new f zero game (unlikely). The expectations for the direct were way too high. I am a little disappointed in the lack of virtual console, but for some to be expecting 3-4 big game discussions just seemed so unlikely. I do feel that the news of dark souls on the switch is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. As many people were skeptical at them actually be working on such a thing. Even from software had denied its existence at one point I'm pretty sure.

What should be taken from this is at least we're getting some awesome games in 2018, regardless of whether you've played them before, this is the switch were talking about. I am excited to try Bayonetta 2 and Donkey Kong for myself. This is only January, and we can already see the heavy hitters coming to the system. I can only imagine what the rest of the year is going to look like as well. I expect by at least may, we'll have definitive talks on the new fire emblem, and possibly pokemon. But under no circumstances would I expect any news to be before then.

What do you guys think? I constantly see this sub speculating incredibly unrealistically and it's important that we manage our expectations accordingly to avoid the disappointment. We know everyone wants animal crossing. We know everyone wants a new metroid. But at least one of those has been announced, and that's a miracle on it's own. So I say we sit back and enjoy the ride, because it's just getting started!
