A Mexico City franchise would be a disaster for one major reason: No free agent would want to live there
Franchises like Portland and Memphis already have issues attracting free agents because no one wants to play for small market teams in pretty mundane cities (no offense Blazers/Grizz fans).
Mexico City may be a big market, but it’s about two and a half hours by plane just to even get to the US, and has a homicide rate 150% that of NYC and is home to surging cartel warfare, many saying the situation is out of hand. edit: it’s been pointed out to me that that’s actually lower than some American cities like Atl and NOLA. Still, other points stand. Also, I didn’t even realize that Mexico City has an altitude of 2,000 feet higher than DENVER. This would give a huge advantage to the home team that doesn’t need to adjust.
Mexico City also has some of the worst air pollution in the world, coming to the point where the city actually banned cars from the road for a week.
Top that off with Mexico City being the world’s most congested city in 390 cities in 48 countries on six continents.
Add services and goods from the US and Canada that won’t be available there plus Mexico not even bring an English speaking country... no marquee free agent would ever consider it.
I’m not trying to shit on Mexico right now, but seriously, stick with Seattle or Vegas.
"pretty mundane cities (no offense Blazers/Grizz fans)"
dont confuse mundane with small my friend. These are both great cities to visit and live in.
Nyc actually has a pretty low homicide rate (5.8 per 100k), so not sure why you'd use that. Mexico City has a homocide rate of 8.4 per 100k. Here are a list of NBA cities that have a higher murder rate than Mexico city:
Atlanta (20.2) Chicago (28.7) Cleveland (16.2) Dallas (10.7) Houston (13.3) Indianapolis (17.1) Memphis (20.5) Miami (17.1) Milwaukee (24.2) Minneapolis (11.4) New Orleans (41.7)
I could keep going but you get the point. Try doing some research for once.
I’m not trying to shit on Mexico right now

the end is near
the end is near
Oh god, are they going to euthanize him?
we anticipate that the end is near
Colangelo confirmed for knowing when Nibiru when collide with our flat earth.
I understand that he is simply criticizing Westbrook's mistakes, but Coach Nick seems to do this way more for Westbrook compared to other star players.
bballbreakdown is biased trash and coach Nick was fired for being a racist
There aren't too many players games he picks apart like Russ', Harden didn't get a video after game 6 of the wcsf, or when he broke the turnover record in the wcf vs the warriors. He did a break down of Stephs entire series vs the cavs but also happened to post after game 4 of our series.
The Spurs do not run any plays when Rudy Gay is in the game
Don't take it from me, take it from Pop who actually said this in the post-game conference yesterday.
According to him, Rudy barely knows all the plays and when he is in the game they literally do not run any halfcourt plays. It's just "motion" which is equivalent to read and react. Rudy agreed and said he is just playing on instinct.
Thought this was interesting because a lot of fans give Billy Donovan and Luke Walton and some other coaches a lot of criticism for not running any plays.
but is it working? if its working then motion offense is fine. whatever billy donovan and luke walton are doing is not working
Read and react works best when you have a bunch of high BBIQ guys.
The Spurs have guys like Parker, Ginobili, Gasol who are all very skilled. Easier to do motion offense with them than a bunch of iso reliant stars or relatively raw young guys.
SA has fundamental systems in place and have a lot more veterans who have experience in most situations.
Lakers are barely toddlers with their current lineup.
People give Donavon and Walton shit for not running plays because they aren't the greatest coach of all time, Pop can do whatever he wants
Yeah, not like we're missing anyone
Should still be a really good game but I'd love to see these teams play at close to full strength.
both teams are playing well without their 2 stars anyway. credit to their systems
Gotta have an easy feel good game to come back to lol. Probably Pops idea.
I hope TNT/ESPN or the fucking NBA hire this man.
Sounds like it's bookmark time.
Though I'll probably keep going to YT.
I've always pronounced it as "zeemo."
Ximo with the 7D verbal jiujitsu, can't take his channel down if he doesn't post.
On a serious note, he is a lifesaver ever since i found him on YouTube, he will always be the OG and i always try my best to watch his videos even if other channels releases them earlier.
With today's acquisition, the Nets core 25 years or younger: Jarrett Allen (19) D'Angelo Russell (21) Jahlil Okafor (21) Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (22) Caris LeVert (23) Spencer Dinwiddie (24) Nik Stauskas (24) Allen Crabbe (25)
Interesting to see how this will pan out. I love what Marks has done with this team
Nets are the Suicide Squad of the NBA.
Except the Nets are watchable
Jahlil about to turn into vegan Shaq
You mean you don't like quotes like this?
"This is Katana. She's got my back. I would advise not getting killed by her. Her sword traps the souls of its victims."
At least they have Dwight this time
Cody tore his meniscus and then threw down a dunk.
Yeah it's not impossible to still do things on torn ligaments/meniscus. Joe Thornton of the San Jose Sharks played a 6 game playoff series with a torn MCL and ACL
Damn he was hurt on that play before the dunk.
THAT'S MY POINT CENTER!
Oh boy we sure do regret that max contract that everyone said we’d regret right away.
he shook it off vs Washington in the semis. absolutely wrecked gortat and mahinmi in the series
Horfords been a monster this year. I cant wait for the playoffs to see if he can shake off that soft reputation
The Brooklyn Nets now have the second and third overall picks from the 2015 NBA draft
D'Angelo Russell was the second pick in 2015 by the Lakers. Nets traded Lopez for him and Mozgovs salary
Jahlil Okafor went third to Philadelphia and was just traded to the Brooklyn nets
when you traded all your first rounders to Boston but still end up with two top 3 picks
Imagine telling someone the night after the 2015 draft that both Russell and Okafor would be on the nets in less than 3 years. And that Donald Trump would be president.
He's about to start shooting 3s
