TCGPLAYER - Refund, but only if you leave a good review

TCGPLAYER - Refund, but only if you leave a good review

So after years of using tcgplayer, I had a seller send me unprotected cards in bulk. They jammed 10 cards at a time in a penny sleeve damaging them to begin with but then followed up with no other protection. By the time it reached me through usps, they cards were warped and mangled. I reached out to the seller and let them know the situation. After requiring pictures, they can to the conclusion that a refund was in order. There was a catch though, he would only refund me if I left a good review.

I said I would accept the refund, but I am not going to be beholden to leaving a good review. The seller then let me know that they would be following tcgplayers policy of sending the cards back and that it would take much longer, etc.

I have already reached out to tcgplayer but things are slow going. Has anyone else seen this before? Isn't this completely unethical?

Leave a good review, get your refund, after refund completes leave a 1star review informing of how they held your refund unfairly hostage.

Contact TCG player and show them all of the conversation.

As others have shared, if you're already in contact with our CSR team then we'll be sure to help you resolve this issue. (And thanks for using TCGplayer!)

THIS. PLEASE.

I like to imagine that MaRo's superhero identity would be Dr. Squirrels.

What's this? A handsome supplemental product woefully underpopulated by squirrels? A large influx of squirrels ought to put a stop to that!

That's exactly what he wants you to think.

Most other heroes are wary of him because he's kind of nuts.

Explains why I've never seen them both in the same room...

The true Magic of Xmas

Looks like you got cheated mate, those are clearly Descending Boosters, not Dissension.

The magic is in opening jenk.

Instead of opening boxes full of socks and sweaters nobody wants, you'll be opening packs with cards that nobody wants.

It has begun. "Silver bordered cards not allowed" in LGS tourneys!

It has begun. "Silver bordered cards not allowed" in LGS tourneys!

Good call. This was a terrible idea.

It began the moment they announced this change, which was bad enough but exacerbated by the fact it was clearly half-assed looking at the cards that didn't stay banned.

It’s a fun idea to play with Un Cards in Commander. It’s not a fun idea to make everyone play with Un Cards every single game for a month and a half.

Commander is a hugely popular format with people who play for a lot of different reasons. Not everyone sees Commander as a strictly just-for-fun, anything-goes format. The fact that many people have Commander decks worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars shows that people take the format seriously.

This isn't even to say that people with expensive, highly tuned decks are just in it for the competition. The bottom line is that the Un-set cards (particularly Unglued and Unhinged) were not designed for a format like this, and they can have game-breaking effects that are, frankly, annoying.

I like seeing janky stuff happen in Commander, and I know the board can get pretty silly, but that doesn't mean I want some of the absolutely ridiculous effects silver-bordered cards can bring.

None of this is even to mention the fact that this change would require a ton of specific judge rulings that just haven't been figured out or specified because they were never meant to be played in this type of situation.

PSA: Un-sets will not be allowed at our Commander events at the SCG Invitational this weekend

PSA: Un-sets will not be allowed at our Commander events at the SCG Invitational this weekend

The Commander committee made Un-set cards legal for Commander play through January 15th (Full announcement here: http://mtgcommander.net/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=18749). While this change takes places effective immediately, we were not made aware of this change before our SCG Invitational this weekend. It seems like a lot of fun to play with Unglued, Unhinged and Unstable cards in a non-competitive setting, but there are some problematic cards (such as Nerf War) that we need to examine before allowing them at our events.

After speaking it over with our Organized Play team, we are not going to allow Silver-Bordered cards at this weekend's SCG Invitational Commander side events. We feel that over the coming weeks, all of the kinks will be ironed out of the rulings/banned list for Silver-Bordered cards in Commander play. We will be following this situation closely, and will have a decision about handling Silver-Bordered cards at our SCG Tour side events prior to our next event (SCG Columbus, on January 6th, 2018).

TL;DR: Not allowing silver-bordered cards this weekend at the Invitational. Will re-examine this policy before our next event. This change was just too short notice for both us and the majority of players who plan on attending this weekend.

Update from Level 3 Judge and SCG Organized Play Manager Jared Sylva: All Commander events are sanctioned as Casual Events. This is a sanctioning type allows for recognized formats such as Commander that are not supported in the MTR as well as for house rules and unsupported formats such as Frontier and 93/94.

I'm not surprised. Suddenly declaring Un-Cards legal like that but only for a limited time is, once again, showing that commander committee is not a real substitute for a Wizards run format if this format is to have any sanctioned events at all.

Makes sense, Un-cards were never designed to be used in real Magic games so I can see a lot of them being either impossible to rule on or, honestly, just too damn annoying and disruptive for an entire hall of people to cut loose with at once. May as well give it a few weeks to watch the more obvious problem cards get banned rather than risk utter mayhem.

The point of competitive Magic is to play the least Magic.

1- call judge over

2- crack Kindslaver

3- Judge now helping you win

4- If judge screws up, call judge on judge

Bonus points for looping Kindslaver and monopolising an entire event's judge team all taking turns to control your opponent.

Multiplayer Commander Announcement - Un- cards will be legal until the next banned announcement

Multiplayer Commander Announcement - Un- cards will be legal until the next banned announcement

Wouldn't the best way to handle this be to not make them legal, and then if you really want have a page that says "hey if your playgroup wants to use silver-bordered cards, here are our recommended rules"

this looks like a nightmare tbh

These are the kinds of decisions that lead people to have no confidence in the Rules Committee.

Cool. Now I can go from asking the table if they're okay with me playing silver-border cards, to.... asking the table if they're okay with me playing silver-border cards.

I’d hate to be an EDH player who was planning on attending an event just to play in side events while this rule is effect.

"After careful deliberation and review, and in consideration of your feedback, we have decided that not only will there be no changes to the Commander banned list, there will be no changes to the deck construction rules, as well. Silver-bordered cards will not be permitted unless your playgroup agrees to it. Also, we've decided that our forum is in no way outdated and will not be changing its look, either."

That's my prediction. The RC and its supporters have a very strict "Status Quo is God" stance on anything to do with Commander, and only ever seem to budge if overwhelming opposition (not just well constructed arguments) is presented.

you might be surprised by how many people turn down offers of even volunteer graphic work. as a hobbyist graphic artist, I've offered tons of suggestions or even made actual graphics for people who usually turn it down and end up offended when I tell them they could do better than Times New Roman over clipart for a logo.

some people have no eye for visual design, and they don't think anyone else cares about it - I'm gonna take a wild guess and put Sheldon in that camp.

Probably banning more green cards

Probably an announcement to make certain Un-cards commander legal.

Such an announcement will make Maro very happy.

MTGSalvation - If You Can't Take Criticism of Jeremy Hambly, You're Part of the Problem

Please no.

This article, among other pieces of thought, is giving a toxic nutjob and his toxic nutjob friends a jersey to identify with and a part in a pseudosymmetrical debate that, by the way, has no place here. And nowhere else.

We've already verified his ability to cross the line and do legally punishable stuff, we've already verified that he's so much of a sad and miserable dick that any sort of thirst for vengeance is absolutely pointless, let's collectively stop giving him and his posse a place in the debate.

I'm ok with using this incident to better ourselves as a community, just keep in mind that he doesn't want anything more than being identified as public enemy #1. He's a talentless piece of shit who doesn't have any other shot at relevancy than this. Do not give it to him.

Tolarian Tutor: How To Be A Better Control Player in Magic: The Gathering

I really love the control vs control matchup. When both sides of the table are fine just saying "draw, land, go" for 6-7 turns, and then the shit hits the fan. The wincons get jammed, the counters get countered, and suddenly... The game just ended in 1 turn.

Love the earlydownvote brigade.

Lets go Prof, Michelle, and Emma!

I like the series since it's easy to think of specific decks and how they play, but boiling it down to fundamentals is super nice.

How to be a better player

1: Play everything 2: If your opponent hates what you're doing, do it more.

So, these videos are a collaborative work between myself, Emma Handy, and Michelle Rap. Emma is the brains of this, and we spend about 3-4 hours where I kind of grill her with FNM-level questions about the topic and she "tutors" me from a PRO perspective. Michelle then transcribes everything and then all three of us wrangle together a 10-20 minute script.

The overall goal is to try and hit a spot I feel is often neglected: the casual try hard / intermediate player. Someone who loves FNM but doesn't play in GPs but really wants to take first. This isn't meant for beginners but is also isn't meant for aspiring pros.

It's a lot of time, and since there's two other professionals involved, resources (see: cash, people need to be paid for their work and Michelle and Emma work damn hard on this) but it is one of my proudest series on the channel. Had wanted to do it for so long.
