Giving Fox way too much credit. As if they were 'doing the right thing'
...O'Reilly was fired for losing advertisers.
This is the real answer otherwise he would have been fired sometime in the last couple decades of abuse
O'Reilly's sponsors cared that we care. Trump's sponsors don't care.
All of this is going to go down as a major black mark on our country. These people should not be allowed to escape justice, and my vote is contingent on officials doing their jobs and trying, convicting, and imprisoning the guilty. That includes any member of Congress that knew and did nothing. No more olive branches, no more. Arrest and try the criminals, the same way the people who led us into a war* based on lies and a financial crisis based on greed should have been.
I realize that. It was also Obama that refused to investigate the Bush administration's lies and criminal activities. All in the name of an attempt to heal and move toward progress. It is clear that was and is a foolish tactic now. When playing with cheaters, you don't give them an olive branch. You give them the sword. No more of this. These people must be charged.
When playing with cheaters, you don't give them an olive branch. You give them the sword. No more of this. These people must be charged.
Careful now -- Obama did this because newly-elected Presidents trying and convicting their predecessors is your standard play in a Despotic system, not a democracy. This is opening an ENORMOUS can of worms.
Trump could've mocked up some kind of Obama show trial had Obama tried the Bushes.
Meanwhile, /sub/conspiracy is denying the existence of an actual conspiracy right before their eyes....
Yup. There were a lot of claims in that dossier. No saying if that particular aspect was corroborated, I doubt it was because I don't think the FBI needed that thread of evidence to obtain warrants (doesn't mean it's not true). But the FBI corroborating ANY part of that dossier and using it in court, and then for the court to say "yeah. This is credible and grounds for allowing a warrant" is HUGE.
Donald Trump has spies in his ranks. (And the biggest part of that statement is that his supporters are not only aware, they don't fucking care. Keep in mind, these are your "patriot" types who bullied people around when people on the left objected to the PATRIOT act and mass surveillance when it was being legislated by telling us to "shut up and support the troopz!")
Wasn't this the same dossier that said that Trump hired prostitutes and that the Russians have tape of it?
I hope it completely destroys the GOP and a new, more moderate party can emerge.
For all the shit liberals give to republicans, I know there are millions who earnestly believe in America and are truly patriotic. If this shit turns out to be true, I'm confident those people will leave and/or split the party irreparably.
Good take-away from the article:
Washington (CNN)The FBI last year used a dossier of allegations of Russian ties to Donald Trump's campaign as part of the justification to win approval to secretly monitor a Trump associate, according to US officials briefed on the investigation.
The dossier has also been cited by FBI Director James Comey in some of his briefings to members of Congress in recent weeks, as one of the sources of information the bureau has used to bolster its investigation, according to US officials briefed on the probe. This includes approval from the secret court that oversees the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to monitor the communications of Carter Page, two of the officials said. Last year, Page was identified by the Trump campaign as an adviser on national security. Officials familiar with the process say even if the application to monitor Page included information from the dossier, it would only be after the FBI had corroborated the information through its own investigation. The officials would not say what or how much was corroborated.
Someone below suggested that they would like to take this list to /sub/asktrumpsupporters and see how they responded to it. As I tried to explain, that simply wouldn't be productive. This list will not change anyone's mind on Donald Trump, in fact presenting this list to one of his supporters would probably be counterproductive: They'd be more likely to double down in their defense of him than concede your point. It's called the "backfire effect" and activates the same parts of the brain that fire up when someone feels their life is being threatened. (This phenomenon occurs in liberals too, though it is somewhat less pronounced due just to the difference in liberal and conservative brain structures, 2, 3, 4, 5.)
This list was written for liberals, for those who already oppose Trump, it's a resource and a reminder of what he's done and who he is. So much has happened in the past ninety days, just like during the campaign each scandal is overshadowed by the next, making it easy for all of us to lose perspective. We must all remember that this is not normal, this is not business as usual, and seeing those abnormalities laid out like this can work to keep those memories fresh.
This list will not change anyone's mind, but you might.
I haven't updated this since February, but I guess it's time that I start working on it again...
"Donald Trump totally isn't, like, a dictator folks!"
...would make the Army target civilians.
Removed for space:
Edit: Belated update for March/April.
Bonus fun facts!!
Civilian deaths from US-led airstrikes hit record-high under Donald Trump
At least 30 dead after US air strike hits Syrian school where civilians had taken shelter
US admits killing 200 civilians in Mosul air strike while world focuses on London terror attack
Under Trump, U.S. Military Has Allegedly Killed Over 1,000 Civilians In Iraq, Syria In March
Yemen raid that killed 30 civilians and US Navy SEAL uncovered 'no actionable intelligence', officials say
The Trump administration is exploring how to dismantle or bypass Obama-era constraints intended to prevent civilian deaths from drone attacks
And a quote:
"The other thing with the terrorists is you have to take out their families, when you get these terrorists, you have to take out their families. They care about their lives, don't kid yourself. When they say they don't care about their lives, you have to take out their families," - Donald Trump, December 2015
Trump: Congrats on your brazen power grab! Want to share any tips?
Erdogan: Is easy, just have Michael Flynn on your payroll
Edit: I see a lot of truthers denying that this actually happened, because they are struggling to defend dear leader. Here is a readout where the White House confirms the call happened.
Odd, because his own State Department is throwing shade at it.
Where do I get some of that Soros money? I've been demanding for free, for years!
Considering how he accuses others of the exact things he does, I'm beginning to think he pays people to show up at his rallies. Trashed about vacations, takes a lot of them. Trashed about corporate lobbying, does the same thing. Talks about lying ted and he himself lies on a daily basis.
Well obviously, the only reason anyone would dislike generous, compassionate, tolerant, truthful, philanthropic Trump is if they're paid to do so, right? He's such a great person, everyone loves and trusts him by default.
/s just in case.
I still wish a billionaire (looking at you, Cuban) would do what trump did to Obama with his birth certificate and make it their pet project to humiliate him weekly by holding press conferences and basically harass him into responding. It seems like a missed opportunity.
This is an anti-Trump, and more generally anti-Republican, sub with a focus on political activism. The Georgia district is currently a tossup and is one of several elections being used to gauge the "Trump effect" on Republican popularity. If Republicans start losing red seats, that sends a message to congressional Republicans that their association with Trump is likely a detriment. Hopefully this will cause them to break rank if and when Trump proposes unpopular measures rather than toeing the party line.
Georgias congressional district from red to blue
I just came here from /sub/all, what is the 6th? Like 6th amendment or something else?
Thanks for explaining pal
Another rich white guy who woke up on third base and thinks he hit a triple.
He's right. Most of the Reps don't work for us. They work for their corporate interests and lobbyists. I hope the good people of OK vote this guy out. It's disgusting how much Congress has been compromised.
Markwayne Mullin, you're a piece of shit. Having significant outside income doesn't mean you're not employed by the public. It just makes you too detached to care about them. You're not successful, you're just pathetic.
Edit: Got name wrong, sorry. I misread the first paragraph.
I agree that we need to drain the swamp. This includes Republicans.
In 2015, the Trump team probably didn't know that anyone was on to them yet. This info could be the good shit.
Also these paragraphs:
The European countries that passed on electronic intelligence – known as sigint – included Germany, Estonia and Poland. Australia, a member of the “Five Eyes” spying alliance, which also includes the US, UK, Canada and New Zealand, also relayed material, one source said.
Another source suggested the Dutch and the French spy agency, the General Directorate for External Security or DGSE, were contributors.
That's at least 7 countries that sent us info that the Trump team was up to some fuckery. Surely nothing to see here, right?
Someone really dropped the fucking ball by sitting on this shit until after the election.
See, that is the problem. The good guys are all "bipartisan" people who don't want to make their really important jobs into a political nightmare. Meanwhile, the bad guys are just fine doing whatever it takes for the home team. This puts the whole country at a damned disadvantage just because we cannot recognize that actual enemies of the state are running the show.
"Bipartisan" should not mean "good and evil".
That's what happens when you tries too hard to be "bipartisan".
“Director Comey was very, very good to Hillary Clinton, that I can tell you. If he weren’t, she would be, right now, going to trial,” Trump said. “Are you going to push that?” Bartiromo asked. “No, I don’t want to talk about that,” Trump responded.
Trump doesn't want to talk about the thing he brought up and was talking about. Right.
This is not normal.
Relieving Comey of his duties would be politically damaging for Trump
Political damage doesn't seem to be very high on Trump's list of priorities.
I don't think Trump even knows what he's trying to say.
Fine. If they want to cut our social security, then what should happen is that every last one of us that have paid into SS should be given all our money back to put into our own retirement accounts. After all the government has been using our SS money to pad their pockets, so if you want to privatize it then we should be able to sue to get our money back. Or impeach all the stupid politicians that want to hurt the american public so they can remain rich.
And of course eliminate all pensions for elected officials.
Typical babyboomer move. They get all the benefits of what we pay into social security, but cut it so we won't have any when we reach retirement.
Take their Cadillac healthcare plans too. Let them buy from their home state's ACA marketplace.
