That's a nice fuckin' kitty right there.
Her eyes! She is absolutely stunning. I'm so sorry about the news ❤
I feel so sad. Your cat is like me, having liver problems. I was diagnosed with a serious liver "problem" a few weeks ago. I'm scheduled to go in for another MRI as well as further invasive tests. I don't know what to think right now. The doctors seemed very concerned, but I can't tell how serious it is. I guess they want to get all the tests done before telling me everything. :(
I pray for your kitty. Hope she makes it.
What a turnaround. Was not in good shape at the shelter. You may have saved his life. Wishing you many years of happiness together, he's a handsome boy.
Thank you!! I'm happy to have given him a safe space to play with all of his toys :)
/sub/beforenafteradoption would surely enjoy this! (I know I did)
_^ good human
He/she is gorgeous! So majestic 🙀 what's the breed?
He's a Maine Coon breed, and the girlfriend thinks a bit of Norwegian Forest mixed in there? He was a shelter kitty and they didn't know much about him.
It looks like it might be a Ragdoll, but I'm not the OP.
Almost every tabby has the M.
We picked up (rather she found us) at the SPCA about 3 years ago. I sat down and she padded over, jumped on my lap, and reached out with her polydactyl paw (all four were!) And pulled my hand close to her. She started purring then and there, and very rarely stopped. My wife and I instantly fell in love. She was tiny, about 1/3 of the size of our two year old cat we have had since he was a kitten.
Galli and my wife were so close. I would be away for 3-4+ days a week and they would hang out and comfort each other. My wife was pregnant with our first child, and gallifrey would sleep on her belly purring away. Gallifrey started having kidney issues a few months ago, and had surgery last month to hopefully fix things, and had an e-tube placed to help with her feeding and medicine.
My wife went into early labor late on the night of the 16th. I was away, but she was feeding her her evening meal and talking to her. She cuddled up close and said that they had gotten through the last few months together and couldn't have done it without each other.
On the morning of the 17th, Gallifrey had thrown up and was not doing too well. She looked very uncomfortable. My wife sent her to the local vet, and then asked me to arrange to get her to the specialists (a floatplane ride away) who had taken such good care of her and did her surgery. She stabilized overnight, and our little Zara was born at 0156 on the 18th. We came home that evening, and received word from the vet that she was stable, and good to come back home on Sunday.
This morning we were woken up (well as woken up as two brand spanking new parents can be) by a phone call. My sister was rushing to the specialist as things had taken a turn for the worst. We called the vet and they think she had a stroke overnight. She was alive, but no longer with us. We made the choice to put her to sleep comfortably with my sister there.
She fought to stay with us during the pregnancy for my wife. My wife needed her there. Gallifrey knew that if she came home it would be so tough for us to care for her (feeding tube, medicines, etc...) And a brand new baby at the same time. She gave us a very precious gift.
Everyone who met her instantly fell in love. That's all she wanted, was to be loved and to love everyone. She was precious.
We only had her in our lives for a few short years, but she made a lifetime of difference.
We miss you Gallifrey. Mom, Dad, and the baby that you helped bring into this world but never had the chance to meet.
Edit: we all feel so loved! Thank you to all who wished us well and grieved with us. Gallifrey would be so happy!
Edit2: Thanks for the gold, but please donate to your local SPCA/Shelter in honor of Galli.
Who says animals don't know what's going on or what is needed from them?
Gallifrey was fighting off the grim reaper till the very end, standing bravely till mommy's had her baby and once she had set everything right , she calmly slipped into death. Her job here was done, her battle won and she could safely exhaust her ninth life.
Brave Gallifrey kept the reaper on his toes, now Gallifrey safely crosses the rainbow bridge, on his own terms. A brave kitty warrior.
I am so sorry for your loss. I had a cat that helped me work from home. He would sit in the chair next to me while I did forecasts for a Fortune 10 company. He was an amazingly good forecaster. The day before I quit my job of 26 years, we had to put him down. I have often said that his work was done. He was an amazing cat. It sounds like your Gallifrey was an amazing person, who knew she needed to help your wife.
Again, I am sorry for your loss.
I'm not crying.. nope I totally am 😭
What a beautiful kitty, so sorry for your loss :(
"I like to go just like the west,
I like my sugar sweet
But jumping queues and making haste
Just ain't my cup of meat
Everyone's beneath the trees
feeding pigeons on a limb
But when Quinn the Eskimo gets here
All the pigeons gonna run to him
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn"
Thanks! He was a super cool dude.
The crazy thing is that he was a rescue that was found behind someone's house and was brought to our vet. He was ugly with extremely spiky hair as a kitten. No one wanted him.
Imagine how warm that is
I think the real story here is, not one, not two, but three cats actually using a cat bed instead of leaving hair on my clean laundry, like seriously you little fucks I just washed those clothes and I put the basket down for like five minutes!
My life goal is to be that orange creamsicle
The picture I posted is my favorite of her, but picture of her on Christmas Eve a few years ago really makes me miss her more. She was always so cozy.
I've never even met her in person...but, after seeing the Christmas Eve photo...I really miss her too.
(Why do we fall so hard for cats!?!?)
Cats don't make it to 18 years without a special person to love and care for them. You did good, OP.
I've found so many photos and videos of her I didn't know I even had, like this and ughhh, why do we do this to ourselves?! This is the second cat I've had die this year, Baby we were expecting but not the other. :( At one point we had 7 cats and now we're down to only 2. It's lonely.
I see a black Selleck mustache and little goatee, but I also see a white curled handlebar mustache. It's a double gentleman!
He's obviously searching for clues! 🔎
That's amazing! I never saw the second mustache
That cat needs a beret and cigarette in an ivory-tipped holder.
So adorable! People that say cats don't love their owner have no idea what they're talking about.
According to the scientific research, an average cat even prefers human attention over food!
I've seen that happen.
Almost seven years ago, I moved here to Arizona. I went out in the alley one day and this wretched little calico kitten comes out from under a car, looks me in the eye, and comes right up to me. Started purring just before she got to my hand. I picked her up, took her inside and held her for an hour. Then it was like, 'I guess I have a cat now,' so I went and bought food and other cat supplies.
She was in pretty rough shape. Missing fur from malnutrition, her coat was stiff instead of soft, her spine and ribs were sticking out, she had a few sores, had to have some bad teeth pulled, and only has about half of a tail. But very friendly. Nobody abused her and she loves everyone.
To get to the point, I've give her a whole 5 oz. can of wet food. She would take a little bite, climb all over me for a few minutes, and then go back and eat everything. I've never seen a cat eat so much. She probably weighed 3 lbs., and would eat two cans of wet food every day and I kept the bowl of dry food full. She ate like that for a month, then started eating a normal amount. But she always had to jump up on me and purr around every time I fed her.
She is totally spoiled today. My mom and dad went crazy over her. Mom had to have a knee replaced and wanted a little friend during recovery. So the calico went to live with them. They love her and she visits all of the neighbors, where she gets lots of attention and treats. She also managed to charm a neighbor who is a veterinarian, so she gets handled by a vet every day and free healthcare. Not too bad for a pathetic little alley cat.
A few months ago I read somewhere that it's scientifically proven that cats really love their owners. According to the scientific research, an average cat even prefers human attention over food! Cats just have their own way of expressing it.
you cant post that and not post a pic.
This is Bear, my feisty floofy black buddy. Hard to tell here but he has extra toes :]
Yes they are floofy friendly little fucks. They love people and greet anyone who comes to the door with nose bumps.
Perhaps also a little "kneady?"
Aaaahhh! So much fluff!
