StarWarsBattlefront

EA has no solution to rage quitter

EA has no solution to rage quitter

It's the fifth time today, that my team swept over the other team in heroes and villains. The other team left one after another. Then you're stuck in an endless game as there is no time limit. Great work and thinking ahead EA.....

putting in a match timer isn't something that can be monetized, so it is low priority for EA and DICE

It's not the "scandal" that's gonna destroy this game, EA's incompetenece and greed will...

They've got the feedback after the beta. People already said that this is not gonna be okay. They lied about the promised changes and they actually managed to make it worse. The game released we're supposed to give our feedback regarding gameplay changes, balance, bug related issues etc. and what would we like to see next, but no. Instead of this everything else is on hold, the devs now have to come up with something else and try to fix a system that was doomed from the start.

After Mass Effect: Andromeda, they've managed to f*ck this game up too.

EA made some of the best games I have ever played.

And then they ruined them...

definitely not incompetent

The backlash started a week ago, their PR team couldn't handle it - in fact their response only made the situation worse. They promised an AMA that answered nothing, it took them 5+ days to took down the crystals and they still don't have a concrete plan on how they're going to replace/change the progression and the lootboxes.

They expect people to trust them and still buy/not return the game while they don't share what's coming next. The only reason this game still has a chance is because it's Star Wars.

They have greed. But there definitely not incompetent. EA made some of the best games I have ever played.

But they did shot themselves in the foot with the whole lootbox progression.

Game's gonna sell a zillion copies and the 2000 or so non sales from the "scandal" will go unnoticed

LMAO this is amazing h

The Ballon had to be a Loot Crate, than i‘d fall off my Chair haha

Thanks. The Force guided me well :p

With all attention on loot crates, nobody is criticizing the lack of heroes

With all attention on loot crates, nobody is criticizing the lack of heroes

All attention is currently directed at the loot crates that there is barely any anger about other things in the game, such as heroes and villains.

There is no:

General Grevious

Prequel Era Anakin

Obi-Wan/Ben Kenobi

Mace Windu

Count Dooku

Jango Fett

Rex and Cody (from Clone Wars series, since they put their own protagonist in the game in as a villain).

That is just to name a few I would have wanted to see in the game and we can easily come up with a few more I am sure.

Uhhh, you forgot ahsoka.

So many heroes missing. I feel like they missed that their target audience grew up on prequels and clone wars.

Let's wait for the free DLC (first one coming next month) and see what heroes we will get there.

Well, when you think about it . . .

The one thing that made me enjoy this game. Flying clone with ass jets.

Now this is podracing

Watch those ass rockets!

Upvoting for the prequel meme. Stay loyal.

Ib4 Wonder Woman as an unlockable hero.

I work at a children's facility for the emotionally and mentally disturbed. I have seen loot boxes and card packs create addiction.

Yes, unfortunately, there's a lack of continuity once addicts are out of treatment and usually relapses very quickly and does sadly undo all the hard work into getting them to kick the addiction.

The interesting this is, just prior to the "reveal" (i.e. opening of the lootbox/card-wrapping), the dopamine level hovers at a high state and the person is generally positive, almost overly optimistic even.

It's the reveal that determines the next state. Getting what they want releases even more dopamine and sends them into euphoria and feeds into the "I should do this more often" mindset. Not getting what they want however, leads to a drastic drop in dopamine and this then leads to frustration or anxiety and we might see them start deploying some classic mechanisms like rationalisation, displacement or projection.

It is also exactly these mechanisms that then push them to try again because the fault was not on them, and the fault was not on RNGesus. The fault was choosing the wrong pack to buy. The fault was opening the lootbox when there were too many characters in the background. The fault was opening the item too fast. The fault was opening the item when it was in the daytime (we all know better loot drops at night! - wait, my night or game server night? Duh....)

Round and round we go.........

I would like to believe this post, but I clicked post history before reading so I would know what the poster is like. Insulting other people constantly but then trying to use a sob story is incredibly asinine in my opinion.

Yeah, the "whose at fault" examples you gave reminded me of when I was a child, I used to love getting baseball cards, and even with those, after not getting any good cards in a pack, I can remember thinking irrational things just like that. I can specifically remember being actually angry at my best friend when he opened a box of cards that happened to have not just one, but two dual signature cards of Mickey Mantle and Ken Griffey Jr. I can remember thinking "life's not fair, why did he get what he wanted, that asshole!" Luckily, I had parents that put a limit on what I could get no matter how much I stomped my feet so my baseball card addiction didn't go far, until I became an adult, and it came back. Luckily, I wised up.

"We have also decided to ban games that contain loot boxes or games with similair systems" What is sad is the gaming industry got so bad that you basically banned 90% of games.

From an outsider’s perspective I just want to say thanks to this community.

I haven’t bought an EA game in several years now as I am extremely against micro transactions in full priced games. So much so that I have made it my mission to not support EA regardless of how much I wanted to buy any of their games. I used to enjoy NFS and mass effect but i have refused to buy any titles from EA due to the fact that I absolutely despise the business model that EA uses in their games lately. I have for many years felt that EA have ruined the gaming industry as many other companies have seemingly copied EA by using the f2p model in full priced games. Many companies like activision and ubisoft etc are becoming like EA and it has begun seriously ruining gaming for me. Its like everywhere you look nowdays micro transactions are everywhere regardless of how out of place they are.

Anyways im not part of this sub nor do I have any interest in purchasing battlefront but i just want to thank this sub for taking a stand against this type of business practice. I really wish more others would stand up against micro transactions in other games but im glad finally people are starting to make their voices heard against this issue. I hope this movement transcends to other games and publishers and changes things for the better throughout the gaming industry. So thank you for what you guys are doing.

I don't see any of this, I just see you posting everywhere in defence of the game. Just go play it dude. People have forced the hand of a big publisher like EA through community backlash over something pretty damn insidious. That's cause for celebration for most people, although clearly not you!

I know this may sound silly but I've been more or less depressed more than one occasion because of EA. I'm quite certain I'm not alone. EA deserves everything we are giving to them right now and much more! Destroying your beloved games is no joke in modern world its like somebody would wipe their ass with your favorite books.

Absolutely not! There are some right bastards on here, balls quadruple in size with the protection of anonymity.

In the grand scheme of things, yes this is a rather meaningless sideshow of bullshit effecting some ansgty wealthy teenagers (I'm generalising, I wish I was still a teenager). It's not homelessness or the hopeless plight of the common man in a globalised capitalist economy (#edgy), but it's still a topic people get really passionate about.

Edit: you were giving more than you were taking in the 'crucified' thread, so I'm not sure you should play the victim, although cuntmustard is fucking hilarious

The whole "worse problems in the world" argument is bullshit. We are capable of being pissed about multiple things. If someone said that to you, they are in the wrong, only an idiot would think that's ok. But just because a vocal minority of people act like children does not invalidate the concerns of the rest of the community.
