LPT: If your friend is dating someone ugly, just tell your friend they're not being treated right.

Real friends can give each other advice or criticism without a binary solution set

What if the chick is REALLY ugly and you are really drunk and they are looking out for you?

Says every man who ever stuck their dick in crazy.

Friends usually see it WAY before you do.

LPT: Play "school" with your young child and let them be the teacher. You will get a good idea of the environment at their school or daycare by how they impersonate a teacher.

Kid: "how tall are you?"

Parent: "five foot nine"

Kid: "five foot nine? I didn't know they stacked shit that high!"

Works great for homeschooled kids too.

A teacher I know ends his open house evenings with parents by saying, "I won't believe what your kids tell me about you as long as you don't believe what your kids tell you about me."

Basically, don't think the imagination of a 1st grader is always grounds for a crusade. He's a very well liked teacher.

If my kid spit that out I might just laugh my ass off! I'd still talk to the school, but that would be pretty hilarious.

We want to know that YOU want the job, not just your parents.

Be nervous as fuck, but be by yourself. It shows independence and self-motivation, which even if shaky, it's better than none.

If you have your parents speaking for you now at the time of application, they think your parents will be a pain in the ass to deal with when you screw up and your parents come to the rescue on your behalf

I can appreciate an applicant being nervous and I even take it into account during an interview. When I see parents hassling me to hire their kid, I have to guess and take a chance on whether or not the kid even wants to work.

We had a guy in our office whose dad came in to do his salary-negotiation. He did not get a raise...

LPT: If you're looking to get drunk but not sick, consider what you're drinking besides the alcohol, e.g. you'd probably feel pretty terrible after 8 glasses of orange juice.

Gin and diet tonic. Tastes great, burns off clean, and keeps the malaria at a manageable level.

That's why I'm a big fan of the vodka, lime and sodas. Gets you drunk and feel fine the next day since you've mostly drunk water all night.

Once did a 5km run whilst still drunk on them. 3/10 would not do again but wasn't as bad as it could've been

This is not about how to get drunk. If you're going to get drunk (which happens to a lot of us in life) here's a tip so you maybe don't puke your brains out.

i feel great after 8 glasses of OJ

This is really not how any of this works...

shrugs

Why not? I was doing fuck all with my credit score any way. Not like I can take it gang banging.

No. You can unfreeze it or the broker will just pull a report from another bureau.

LPT: Tourist with a camera? Take a picture of your contact details

LPT: Tourist with a camera? Take a picture of your contact details

I see it all the time. People try to find owner of a camera based on pictures of (probably) owner. I've seen a lot of "do you know these people?" posts but none "camera owner found". So I assume the success rate is minimal.

All you need to do is take a piece of paper, write down some contact details for example name, email address and phone number and take picture of the paper using your camera.

Make the contact detail the first picture, so that there is greater chance somebody notices it. You cannot expect people to go through hundreds of pictures looking for clues.

You can also put the picture to root directory of your memory card or create some text file "IF YOU FOUND THIS CAMERA PLEASE OPEN THIS.TXT" and write the info there. But keep the picture also among others so the info is accessible using the camera.

It's far, far better to have contact information printed/engraved on the camera itself. Some places don't have the time to track down individual owners by going through pictures and some places have policies prohibiting employees from going through people's electronic devices due to privacy and/or legal concerns.

For example, in Las Vegas, it's outright illegal for a private person gain access to most electronic devices without the owner's consent.

I have my name and phone number as a text file on the SD card. This is for local contact. If overseas, an e-mail address might be added.

Oh, and don't but your room number on it. You shouldn't have your room number written down anywhere at all. If you really need to remember, take a picture with your phone and ensure your phone is locked all the time.

Good point. Although you probably don't want to display the details everywhere you go, you can find some nice small tags that are intended for suitcases and obscure the details when they are not needed.

Some small cameras don't have a lot of free space for this, some don't want stuff hanging from the devices. Whatever works for you is fine, just do the simplest thing first and then think about a better solution, because you are losing your device in 3, 2, ... :-)

LPT: How to identify gunfire

LPT: How to identify gunfire

Coming from a country with a strong firearms ban for normal civilians, I appreciate this LPT. Saved for afterwork viewing.

Thank you very much.

Thank you for this video. We are doing a run, hide, fight, drill at the elementary school where I work tomorrow. I know it's necessary but it really sucks having to run a drill like this and explain why we are doing it to 5 year olds.

I appreciate that. I hope this can help someone someday.

You should probably see a Doctor about that.

tl;dw - Avoid, deny, and defend as last resort. Yet remember every situation is different.

LPT: Your safety would be better served by taking a driving class as traffic deaths are by far the biggest danger for most of us. The odds of being in a mass shooting are about 1 in a million.

LPT2: Your safety would be best served by maintaining an active life style, healthy diet, and engaging in social activities with friends/family.

Are you implying that some of my problems could be my own fault?

Run. Hide. Fight. Remember those. I took a 4 hour active shooter training for work, partly due to the number of mass murders that have happened in Oregon. Key lessons: active shooter incidents last about 15 minutes. The officer conducting the training said police get there in time to count bodies. You have to act quickly, don't wait for orders. He advised getting creative. Inside a building? Punch a hole through the ceiling and hide there. Shooter finds you trapped in a room? Break through the drywall, it's not too hard with a chair or something. Get rough with your environment if it means saving your life and others.

LPT: When you write, make sure you always follow the word "this" with a noun or noun phrase, instead of letting "this" refer vaguely to whatever you were discussing before. (Notice the difference between "This improves your writing!" and "This added clarity improves your writing!")

Don’t get repetitive though. This repetitiveness will annoy your readers.

This advice on avoiding repetition is good advice to avoid repetition.

It's a nice tip but 'always' is a bit of a reach. Being concise is every bit as important as having clarity and adding a modifier to every 'this' can get a bit necessary.

This LPT is actually useful
