Obama gave hours and hours worth of speeches and press conferences on health care. He answered questions, got into details, compromised, and fought tooth and nail for Obamacare.

Trump doesn't know the difference between health insurance and life insurance.

This man. Is so. Fucking. Stupid.

A while back I saw a pretty good description of the difference in how Obama sold the ACA to Congress vs Trump selling...whatever the hell they're doing.

Trump: If you don't vote for this, you'll lose your seat.

Obama: Vote for this. Worst case scenario, it's worth losing your seat over.

I hate that commercial, I've seen it all over lately- a "Grow Up Plan" that "doubles" after the kid turns 18. It seems specifically worded to trick grandparents into thinking that they're investing in the kid's future instead of paying for a plan that pays out if the kid DIES ffs.

The mental gymnastics going on in TD is amazing.

Never liked him.... He was no good.... Couldn't answer questions.... It's about time

Lolol

I will pay cash money for his tell-all book.

You know, it's funny, I remember when Spicey took the job, people on the_dipshit were shouting about how "liberals are gonna hate this guy", "he's going to MAGA all over you leftists", etc.

It didn't quite work out how they planned it.

I would laugh like hell if SNL had him do a spot...impersonating Melissa McCarthy...

There's no way to spin this folks, he's the worst president, e.v.e.r.

Made 836 false or misleading statements

Tell that to "the dumbass" they had a pic listing all his achievements, I shit you not two separate lines were "repealing the excessive eo's put in place by Obama" and "enacted X number of eo's"

Additional accomplishments his supporters are celebrating:

Appointed anti-abortion white dude to Supreme Court vacancy held open by Bitch McConnell

Continued to be not black

Said really mean stuff about people who didn't do what he wanted them to do

Trump says new Pennsylvania coal mine created 45,000 jobs. The actual number is 70.

Only off by 99.85%. Give him a break guys.

The entire coal industry only employs about 50k workers, so yeah, this was a gigantic lie.

Nobody knew numbers could be so complicated.

I can't stand when these crybaby liberal snowflakes talk about their precious "numbers" as if they aren't all exactly the same! 45k, 70, seriously, who gives a fuck? The important thing is there weren't jobs and now there are jobs. Screw this obsession with seeing every little thing as "special" and "different." /s

Liberals study postmodernism, conservatives practice it unknowingly.

One of the main characteristics of the turn from modernism to postmodernism is the absence of a ground for truth and meaning. The progression is as follows: scholastic era, we begin translating Aristotle and move from St Augustine's epistemology which grounded Truth in God and revelation, to a proto-science, Descartes ushers in the Modern era, truth is now grounded in reason, then WW1 and WW2 happens and everyone is like, shit, reason got us this shit, postmodernism begins to question the place of reason and argues that Truth is foundational-less. Wittgenstein gives us language games and now, I'd say we have moved into a post-truth age, Baudrillard's simulacrum is now our main organizer of meaning.

Edit: Why conservatives practice it unknowingly, Trump believes in nothing (has NO coherent political ideology outside of self power) his followers and party believe his lies and convince themselves of his "truths," therefore, they themselves have no political ideology, or any "grounding."

Edit 2: Trump is not the cause, he's the symptom. One whose own narcissistic needs overshadow the ethical conscience of temperance.

Much as I fucking detested David Frum when he was George W. Bush's chief speechwriter and a prominent cheerleader for the man, I have to admit that I enjoy seeing him take Trump to task. I guess he was actually enough of a true believer in whatever he saw Bush standing for that he's legitimately outraged by the unprincipled behaviour of the current iteration of the party. Not that it was great under Bush's administration or anything, but I feel like there were probably at least a few of them who genuinely believed in, for example, the Iraq war rather than just seeing it as a cynical blood-soaked cash-grab. Today I doubt there's even one person in the Trump administration guided by anything as close to a principled position as that.

"Today's GOP"

It's really been like that for a few years now.

Pretty much. At this point, DJ-TJ tweeted his willingness and attempt to collude with a hostile foreign government to influence the 2016 presidential ellection, and the only piece of evidence that they didn't successfully go through with a deal, is that the guy who's lied every step of the way says so. He even admitted that they talked about the Magnitsky act (a Russian sanction that Russia hated so much as to ban Americans from adopting Russian children)! The former GRU agent even said that the dirt WAS brought by the Russian lawyer.

Letting this slip by allows any foreign government to collude with a campaign in any way they like. It becomes a bidding war for the POTUS, and as long as you win, there are no consequences. It opens up meddling into every aspect of democracy, and invading the US through bribing the officials inside it.

It cannot be allowed for a campaign that colludes to get away with it. They cannot be allowed to be rewarded for this.

YOU CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO WIN IF YOU'RE WILLING TO COLLUDE.

Edit: Was missing a word.

Edit 2: Thanks for the gold! It's good to know that I'm not going crazy when I see the President tweet what he does. Laying out things like this helps with that, but upvotes and gilding are further proof that it's reality that's going crazy, goose stepping towards a cliff.

I never imagined we would get to a time like this. Facts don't matter any more. Objective rationalism has flown straight out the fucking window.

Even with Trump Jr posting his own fuckin' emails blowing dozens of lies out of the water, this cult STILL backs Trump and calls the Russian investigation a witch hunt and fake news. Putin himself could hold a press conference with Trump and say, "We colluded to win the election," and his cult would rejoice and praise kek for defeating Hillary.

One has to wonder how much this president is on the hook to russia, or if he has things owed to different countries. It's almost like voting for the billionaire who (still) owns a multinational company wasn't quite the dagger in the heart for "globalism" his supporters wanted. Really makes you think.

His kids both crowed about how much funding they get from Russia. How they don't need American banks because they have a tremendous amount of money pouring in from Russia. So take that, and TrumpCo's habit of failed ventures, stiffing contractors, and continuous litigation ... can't imagine how they are NOT on a sharp hook with Vlad and the boys.

So few comments but enough salt for a large bucket of popcorn.

The guy is basically voting based on personality. Notice where he says he thinks Obama was a bad president, he would vote for him again. But he thinks Hillary Clinton was so terrible he still feels justified in voting for Trump and still supports Trump. He doesn't talk about agendas or platforms.

He's a classic American populism-era voter. It's all about popularity and personality, which Bernie-Trump crossover voters are motivated by (unless they're racists). Obama was popular, so he'd vote for him whether or not he thinks Obama was a good president.

Populists don't understand their own political priorities, which is why they rely so hard on fake news, accusations and conspiracy theories.

Several people have been pointing out since Gore lost that liberals are forthcoming about Democratic fuckups while conservatives can never admit any errors unless conservative leaders have already found the scapegoat and thrown him under the bus. Then, they'll go along with that and blame the one guy who "doesn't represent" conservatives anymore. Until then, no: that guy is fucking great.

Congress shouldn't be allowed different rules for healthcare.

Of course Congress needs maternity care covered, they've made fucking every American their #1 priority.

It does seem kind of absurd that they get to set the terms for themselves--meanwhile they're shitting on unionized workers trying to negotiate better benefits.

Funny how whenever a mass shooting occurs, so many republicans say "we dont have a gun problem, we have a mental health issue".

And then they go on to impede mental health treatment.

But But But Trump let 6 brown girls into the country. I thought we all loved Dear Leader.

What's messed up is that he was ever able to gain that level of clearance in the first place. When you think about the kind of background checking effort that goes into vetting even basic FBI agents Vs this situation (Trump: give him clearance. Done) for someone that gains access to intel that even high level intelligence workers don't have, it's a real security risk.

But I guess the same can be said for office of the president.

I'm beginning to get the sense that no one on the right gives a shit about collusion with Russia. Even if it is completely proven.

Yeah what a great act after he blocked them in the first place.
