Try reading an article that isn't 7 years old. They have refined techniques to prospect specifically for helium, and have found enough to last humanity another 100 years in one field alone.

It is a myth regardless of what they say. We stopped mining it bc of cost as soon as we need it we will get it. It's found in the same place oil is just deeper and harder to refine. We stopped refining it because we have a fuck ton already in storage.
Think about it if it was a shortage we wouldn't have balloons, they are completely unneeded
