Since a dog can't consent, it's not exactly a donation.
CORRECTION: A cat can successfully receive ONE transfusion of blood from a dog. The cat doesn't have antibodies but will form them in a few days, and any subsequent dog donation will be fatal. It's a stopgap measure for extreme circumstances only. In the example (rat poison) it got the cat past the immediate crisis.
So if I’m understanding this correctly, cats are going around raping dogs for their blood?
But people can't receive blood donations from dogs. RIP my daughter. With the price of health care now a days, you try and save a couple bucks and...
How can you B Negative knowing a fact like that?
Heh, I'm A Positive guy
Cats are super sensitive when it comes to blood transfusions as they already have the antibodies against the other feline blood types. They don’t have the antibodies for dogs so they can receive the one transfusion in extremely rare situations, but after that they will develop antibodies against that type of dog blood and will react if given it again.
I give my cat dog blood so it will go on walks with me.
