Wait ... so crosshairs are ... crossed HAIRS?!?

“I am going to donate my hair to be used for metereological instruments!”😍 ... aand it’s a bomb targeting device. ☹️

In this case they were. In others there are fine incisions made right into the glass.

Diafollical plans

Sounds like a hairy situation

They use to be, yeah. Most quality scopes now they're etched into the glass.

In case anyone was wondering, she actually died in 1991, at the age of 83, from natural causes, as far as I can tell.

What I’m more curious is the purpose of this comment, that’s so obviously a lie. An anti-war statement trying to gain sympathy? Or maybe just a dick trying to mislead people for no reason?

Wow, the timing was lucky.

presented with an award from the Colorado Aviation Historical Society in 1990 for her selfless wartime service and sacrifice. Babnik Brown passed away in 1991

It needs to be long enough to mount into the jig and trim down. You can't just take a bunch of 1.5" hairs and put them in a sight. You often need much more material for that sort of thing than you'd think for the final product.

I would personally disagree due to the fact that despite the advanced sights actual combat situations meant that bombers could never achieve even close to the theoretical accuracy of the Norden sights. In fact it's one of the reasons they ended up flattening entire cities when they needed to knock out industry instead of the impossible task of actual precision strikes. In addition by the time massed Allied bombing really became a thing they already had the initiative.

Thanks! Your hair was the bomb!

Bullshit.
