This kind of shit just ruins all the hype you get from buying a new game

You'd think I'd ever learn. I come home from work and will get settled, cook my dinner, take off my pants (who wears pants at home) and than I'll start my game and find an update and groan and think "ugh j told myself last time I'd do this first thing and prevent the wait!"

Nintendo does this nicely "there is an update, wanna do it? Or wanna just play?", yea thanks I'll just play.

It wouldn't be so bad if it downloaded at normal speeds. Instead I swear to god it's Vietnam dialup or some BS.

Yeah when I bought the switch the people at gamestop told me it would have to connect to the internet and update before I could play. They were wrong, took me about 5 minutes to boot up and play oddysey.

Unless the game requires me to be online, I've never had my PS4 stop me from playing while downloading an update file.

I remember reading that for some fucked up reason their download system includes repeated unnecessary DNS lookups (as in, way more than a download needs to do to establish the connection) - that's why some people actually report that switching their DNS server helps a tiny bit

It is expected to have to do this. Just that the download speed is terrible.

Rest mode helps tremendously

The PlayStation 4 throttles your download speed. It happens to everyone, even on a wired connection.

I get 100 mb/s doing downloads online and then when I buy a physical copy, the download caps at 15-20 mb/s. Why the fuck does this happen?

That's why I have basically switched to digital content anymore.

First, I live 30 mins from a Gamestop - so it's already a pain to participate in midnight releases.

Second, my hours I work are 1230-9 Monday through Friday, so I'm already out of work by the exact time gamestop closes.. So I can't even make a stop by quickly.

Not to mention that PlayStation servers, even Xbox servers download at a snails pace. However, I will say it's better these days and acceptable. I can download a 50gb game on my PS4 in about an hour or so.

But it I move over to my PC and Steam I can download that in 12 minutes or so.

I have 350/20 so I have that going for me LOL. So it's not so much the download speed these days, but it's convenient.

Oh, and if you're trying to download an update at the same time as everyone else? Good luck LOL.

But yeah, I prefer physical media. But.. I'm also super excited to play most titles that came out this year the second it's available. We've had some quality shit this year. So the decision wasn't too hard for me to just opt for digital :3

Especially since I can get a clean 3-5 hours in at midnight before I have to sleep, since I work at 1230 each day.

But yeahhhh, that's my case anyway!

Xbox one s is a thing to

Least it had updates and patches, as opposed to them just shipping out a broken game.
