Two of the parishioners, Joe and Claryce Holcombe, lost eight of their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Eight people they loved unconditionally, gone in a matter of minutes.
I can't even imagine their pain.
I didn't even realize this. Losing one person is painful enough, I can't imagine the heartbreak they must be experiencing.
Generations of a family, broken by one sick disgusting man. It's awful.
I like the simplicity and reverence.
A simple and elegant memorial.
That's a beautifully done memorial. Just watching a short gif of it on my phone in a cafe in england has made me well up.
I imagine in person it is really powerful and truly sobering.
I feel so sorry for the victims and their families.
This just makes me so sad
Seriously... Do you think all Christians really talk/think like that? This was a horrible tragedy and your comment is horribly insensitive.
This is just really beautful. I can't imagine what these people went through, in a place where they probably felt most safe and at peace.
How is this wholesome?? 26 people died for absolutely no reason at all. You could fix this problem. There could be less rampages like this, but if I only elude to the solution here, I’ll get downvoted to oblivion.
Wait, the second guy who stopped the shooter? I think some people are downvoting because they think you mean put a stop to the church service.
Im just glad that man got his gun and put a stop to it
This is literally the small church in a small town that’s just experienced a mass shooting, you’re seriously going to sit there and get mad at these people for having “a fucking memorial” for their slain friends and family?
Maybe if you weren’t such a fucking child your anger might actually be useful.
The shooter killed himself. The guy with the gun only got to him after the shooter was already leaving. He may have helped end it shorter, but he didn't actually kill the shooter.
This country needs better gun control
That human piece of dog shit took out 5% of that towns population.
What's the point of adding more laws if we refuse to enforce existing ones?
I literally said he may have helped shorten the massacre because we don't know where the shooter was going to, but he did not kill the shooter. That is an incorrect statement that has been being repeated since before the facts were all out and so I wanted to clarify it.
How is the site of a massacre wholesome?
lol sure you were. The context clues didn't give away the point of the article nor his comment. You are an asshole who feels that correcting spelling and grammar is as important as the memorial for those that died. We get it. You can spell. Congrats. Now move along. I'm sure other tragedies have happened and you can go fix the spelling of others on their comments.
Except he shouldn't of even been able to get the guns. It was literally the militaries fuck up that caused this, as they didn't put the fact that he abused his wife and child on his record.
Mourning takes time, it should not be rushed.
Dude, not respectful. Take another time to be critical about that kind of thing. Regardless of your beliefs.
There are so many of these massacres now that this one barely registered on my radar.
Been tried. Obviously doesn't work. Gun control is proven to work. Look at the rest of the world.
I'm sick of my right to life and liberty being overriden by some freaks idea that the 2nd Amendment should be completely unregulated.
It's not. It's what they did to remember those who died
Man stuff like this is powerful and damn sad...rest in peace
Six words, not enough. Too much.
What he say?
That's funny because you eluded your allusion
Wow, are you serious? Your attitude is what turns people off from Christianity. We shouldn't mourn the loss of children?
God damnit autocorrect
I don't know how they are going to survive the holidays. I really don't.
Until I read this comment I assumed that too
makes a post on RoastMe insults murdered innocents
A bold move, Johnson!
/u/celebritycircus in case anyone was curious and the inevitable delete
The more we de-regulate guns the
Tell ya what- go join a "well regulated militia" if you want to own a gun. If it's not that important to you- then eff it.
That way the rest of us can go to church, take walks, go shopping, go to concerts, go to nightclubs, send our kids to school and go to work without fear of our or our kids heads getting blown off.
As horrible as it sounds but by the time you will consider enough time has passed something like this will probably have happened yet again.
The people that this directly affected deserve a proper memorial. I think it's beautiful and unfortunately, they need to mourn. It's our job to bring change. Vote for representatives that are willing to restrict the sale of weapons of war, but allow Americans to protect themselves, hunt, etc. It's a fine line, but we can't expect everyone to jump on board if they feel like the government will come knocking for their handguns and hunting rifles.
I too wish to know
Amend the amendment. I dont understand why these centuries old rules are still considered valid without question. As if the world/country hasnt changed.
