The central mosque in Cologne, Germany is one of the coolest buildings I've ever seen

I think that's actually General Grievous

Its the HQ of a organisation called "DITIB" that is working with all dirty tricks to silence enemies of Erdogan among the Turkish community in germany.

They are Fifth column tier shit, highly dangerous. But the building is nice

I was thinking this was prime /sub/evilbuildings material, apparently I was right.

General Kenobi, you are a bold one!

/sub/evilbuildings

DITIB is also responsible for the low number of participants at the demonstration against terror in cologne this weekend. They openly did not want their members to join the demo.

I wonder when they feel it's the right time to join the people who make a stance against terror.

Hello there.

Looks like something the Brotherhood of NOD out of Command & Conquer would build.

somehow reminds me of this

I think people ought to be more concerned about foreign governments funding religious projects in secular nations. Western secular nations don't fund the building of churches or any other religious structure in their countries or abroad.

When the governments of Saudi Arabia or Turkey do this, it's with the intent of projecting their power and political ideology onto the immigrants of that country.

I agree, it is a cool building. However, there should really be laws against foreign governments sponsoring construction of religious buildings and places of worship in secular countries.

If you're an American and concerned about this, follow HR 5824

Looks nice, too bad this DITIB *ssholes are involved

You fool! I've been trained in the Jedi arts by Count Dooku

"And I trained the boy who killed him."

That line was in the novelisation.

This comment will make a fine addition my collection

For the interested: http://www.dw.com/en/germanys-islamic-organization-ditib-under-fire-for-skipping-march-against-te...

Includes some more insight into their scummy behaviour.

In the end, only about a thousand showed up, not all of them Muslims: http://www.dw.com/en/lower-than-expected-turnout-for-muslim-anti-terror-march-in-cologne/a-39294162

Not only that, they also take money from the local muslim community and it apparently disappears into thin air, while the mosque struggles to be finished (which it still isn't). "DITIB" recently also officially stated that they wouldn't support against islamic terrorism. Nice building, ass people, but the area it is build is a perfect example for good integration of migrants. Used to live there.

He posts in /sub/the_donald, he's probably not too concerned with facts.

You realize that will never happen, right?

General Mosqueus, you're shorter than I expected.

The march was organized by Muslims, so I don't think this is accurate.

If you put men in the back, does that mean you are being discriminatory towards men?

Yes. Are you saying Islam doesn't discriminate against women? Don't lower your standards for them. "It's how the mosque is traditionally organized." Give me a fucking break, it's discrimination.

/sub/evilbuildings

You are correct

Meanwhile! At the Legion of Doom!..

Your upvotes will make a fine addition to my collection.

I'm happy this is the first comment I read.

2 Fun facts:

Every winter the sidewalk next to it is closed because of the risk of snow sliding down the round surfaces

The ground inside the mosque is not hard enough for the lift that was supposed to be used to change the light bulbs. No idea how they will fix that

I have upvoted every General Grievous reference to date.

That's pretty solid logic. Did novel Grievous just say "can't argue with that" and surrender?

Are women allowed to pray in the front of the mosque? Didn't think so. Not the coolest, just more of the same BS.

Well, it is a DITIB funded mosque...

Hello there!

Cologne has some of the coolest architecture - I never understand why is not better known for it. I haven't seen the mosque, so thanks for letting this!

Not very effective

That is indeed Ditib HQ, controlled by Diyanet, the ministry of religious affairs of Turkey. They control hundreds of mosques throughout countries like Germany and the Netherlands. Ankara directly controls them and uses it to influence and manipulate Turks abroad. Even the preaches from the imams, who are employees of the Turkish government just like the hundreds of Qur'an teachers, are centrally written in Turkey and the same in every Diyanet mosque throughout the Netherlands(140 mosques) and Germany ( 900 mosques).

You could say that Germany and the Netherlands have a separation between church and state, but not between mosque and Turkish state.

at 06:00 they start about Turkish organisations in the Netherlands at 08:00 about Diyanet. At has English subs.

You must be very proud

This is a bit different because it was a restoration project for historical sites. It didn't aim to build structures to project America's power, ideology, or a religious message.

Came here to read this comment. Was not disappointed.

You realise that calling everyone who might possibly disagree with you a nazi doesn't work, right?

The organization that uses it is actually evil. DITB I believe

Ironic.

Yep.

It looks like a supervillain's HQ.

It said that the area is a good example.

Infidel slime!

He could train others to kill, but not himself.

first is that march might send signal of associating muslims with terrorism. ( i don't know what they mean by this. someone could care to explain?)

They mean that because the bad things done in the name of Islam have nothing to do with Islam, there is no reason for Muslims to distance themselves. To do so would be sending the wrong signals in implicitly admitting that it does have something to do with Islam.

In other words, the "No True Scotsman" defense.

Game time started.

Im pretty sure obama helped pay for mosque's in palestine

http://www.factcheck.org/2011/03/funding-mosques-overseas/

Fun fact...Praying works just as well as protesting to fight terrorism.
