Asked on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” who he consults with. “I’m speaking with myself, number one, because I have a very good brain and I’ve said a lot of things. I know what I’m doing and I listen to a lot of people, I talk to a lot of people and at the appropriate time I’ll tell you who the people are," Trump said. “But my primary consultant is myself and I have a good instinct for this stuff."
Because he had rich parents so his actual class performance never affected his ability to pull a diploma. Probably why he got shipped off to boarding school.
Remember when we thought W was terrible at public speaking? Those were the days...
Is Trump going to tweet about the failing New York times again? The only one failing is you Mr. "President." You're a disgrace to the office, a disgrace to the country, and worse a disgrace as a man.
Its almost like he thinks he is king and he can do what he wants.
W was great at public speaking. He dumbed himself down and really played up that angle for his base after he lost his house of reps run after his opponent classified him as out of touch with rural Texans.
Whenever Flynn's name comes up I think about an interview I heard on NPR when his name was out there as a possibility.
(Audio exchange with Chayes starts at 6:20 on their player.)
CHAYES: He was. My assessment at the time was this guy was brilliant at bringing information in, you know. I mean, he was collecting information from all quarters. He had a bunch of people around him, some of whom would make some of us raise our eyebrows. My assessment at the time was, wow, he's an intel officer. He's got to be a dog catcher. The problem was he didn't seem to know which of his mutts could actually hunt, and that was - a really consistent feature was constant contradictions.
If you listened to him talking for 10 minutes, you'd hear him contradict himself two or three times. Again, as an intelligence officer, the way I rationalized it was, well, he's got to get this stuff inside his brain. The problem is that can lead to very contradictory both statements and, potentially, policies.
INSKEEP: Which is interesting because one of the jobs of a national security adviser, of course, is to keep things orderly and make sure that the president gets information in an orderly fashion. Any sense of what he was like as a manager?
CHAYES: Orderly, he was not.
INSKEEP: In just a few seconds, as someone who knows General Flynn, when you heard news of his selection, were you reassured, happy, disturbed, troubled, many questions - how would you phrase it?
CHAYES: My heart sank.
INSKEEP: Really? Why?
CHAYES: Everything I just said. The NSA is an institution that, first of all, has to keep the trains running. That's the first job of the national security adviser - is to make that National Security Council run.
CHAYES: Flynn can't make anything run.
This could have all been avoided if Trump warned Trump about Flynn.
It's sad that I literally can't tell if this is something he's said or not. I remember last May 5 when he tweeted some ridiculous thing about trump tower and taco salads or something and thinking it was an onion article or a fake twitter account. To paraphrase a president I never thought I'd say I missed, Fool me once, can't get fooled again!
this is a popular theory but you'd think he would have let it slip sometimes after his presidency ended
Hey hey hey, let's not be disrespectful to people who are merely disgraces; Trump has done MUCH more than disgrace the presidency. I think "violate" would be more appropriate.
The Trump presidency is at 17 weeks. The GOP has 3 weeks left to abort this guy or they are stuck with him.
Edit: Sorry GOP, no exceptions even if the party's life is in danger.
We know this is a big deal because T_D's response has been to talk about rockstar games
No, that's just because the lizardmen lobotomized him.
sane people warned half the country about trump
Look, having nuclear—my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart —you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world—it’s true!—but when you’re a conservative Republican they try—oh, do they do a number—that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune—you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged—but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me—it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are (nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right—who would have thought?), but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners—now it used to be three, now it’s four—but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years—but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.the 45th president of the united states.
Nah, if they didn't want him the democratic process has ways of shutting that whole thing down.
It is. Some stuff is cut out of the middle, but the rest is verbatim. and the second part is 0:50 - 1:04
I just...I can't even...how...I'm so embarrassed for my nation
...and then Trump warned Comey "Flynn's a good guy you should really lay off of him"
Context will not help
Trump warned us all about himself. We had a year long campaign in which every single word and action by Trump clearly exhibited the kind of person he is and the kind of leader he would be. As a candidate, he was a loudmouth, know nothing, spiteful bitch with no respect or understanding of governance or institutions. As a candidate he took up both sides of every issue, contradicted himself from sentence to sentence, and dominated the news every single day because he never stops (a) running his mouth, (b) fucking something up, or (c) getting caught out in lies. And so, what did we get as a President? The exact same shit.
Trump did everything possible to show to the world that he was unfit for office, corrupt, inept, and just generally a dishonest pick with the education, experience, and perspective of a bisected garden hose. The only thing he ever had going for him, in any context or capacity, was being a rich guy with strong brand recognition.
It is truly amazing that so many people voted for him or failed to vote in the face of elevating such a man to the most powerful job in the world.
I believe that it is a bit of both honestly.
He moved on it like a bitch, and now the press and the intelligence community are returning the favor tenfold.
Trump wouldn't even listen to Trump warning Trump about Trump!
Is he that stupid....or is it the narcissism talking?
Nevertheless, he flynnsisted
And then he STILL blamed Obama for Flynn.
Party of personal responsibility!
They tried but Trump's years of unhealthy lifestyle mean his blood contains too many toxins, rendering him immune to their mind control venom.
I found looking at T_D today a bit comical, other times I've visited they talk about the same topics from a different world view, today they were living in a different world entirely.
To be fair, his wife doesn't want anything to do with him and Barron just wants to moderate his Minecraft server in peace. He didn't ask for this
It's an abortion reference. Can't abort after 20 weeks apparently?
I guess Russia really screwed up picking him.
Can we just for a second ask why the lizardmen haven't claimed Trump? Is it because they forgot the human suit?
I believe it's a lot of both
The lizardmen live in the swamps. The lizardmen were there when the chemtrails came down. The lizardmen are now all gay frogs.
Not American here. Crying and laughing at the same time.
The 45th president of the united states is a reality TV star named Donald Trump.
Shit's really falling apart for them. So sad.
Pence apparently knew that Flynn was under investigation, so he might not be spared.
I'm gonna need some context on this bitch cuz I don't understand what the fuck is goin on
Y'all is a handy phrase, though.
Every time. Every fucking time I tell myself, "no way, this is too much, it can't be real. He didn't say that." And then he FUCKING DID.
They planned to do an Inception-style dream plant to warn him about Flynn. Turns out, people without souls don't dream.
Serious question here: If he is impeached, will his spawn still remain working in the white house?
He was still always gaffe-prone though. He was never lacking in confidence, but "Is our children learning" is a real flub, not something contrived. I personally think pre-prepared speeches bored him and he'd be thinking about something else entirely while giving them, hence his propensity for odd phrasings.
Just watch him give speeches as governor of Texas and it's quite obvious much of his folksy goof was an act.
Yep. Just looking at her face you can tell she like to go back in time and re-think the bargain she made with herself when he bought/married her.
Also a disgrace as a father if you take look at his children.
But they used the Electoral College method instead of the proven Popular Vote pill.
He also said he was trustworthy and a good leader.
What's worse is that it's just not him, but his team, and the people he surrounds himself with that have accepted him and his action as acceptable and good for their bottom line
What the fuck kind of a sentence is that from the POTUS??
I haven't been keeping up with his speeches and whatnot lately, but is he getting worse than the campaign now??
At what point has Trump listened to anyone but himself? Is anyone actually surprised anymore?
Maybe the lizardmen got nervous after Trump promised to drain the swamp?
I think you mean he grabbed it by the pussy.
Well, first a doctor has to read them the Constitution and then gives the administration an invasive procedure by a special prosecutor.
Clinton warned Bush about Al Queda. The CIA warned Bush about Al Queda. The FBI warned Bush about Al Queda. Nevertheless, 9/11.
inb4 post reaching front page with emojis worth two lines and a sentence basically saying " You libtards just have to deal with it, you lost, God emperor will be the POTUS for the next 8 years " Then with a picture of smug pepe
failing New York Times
It's not coke, it's prescription uppers. He has a history of abuse, and his behavior bears it out. he acts like he has been on Prescription speed for way too long...
The entire Republican party.
What do you mean they have 3 weeks left? What happens at 20 weeks?
Can't trust that elite globalist lying MSM, only our elite globalist lying President.
I don't like to say it but his whole family is scum, from his father to his children.
I imagine Pence would quickly or eventually remove them. There's no way he wouldn't.
Additionally, I think everyone is WAY too optimistic about Pence being ousted. We'll be lucky if our government apparatus has the willingness to remove Trump. They'll stop there. Removing Pence too just is too far. Not gonna happen.
No one would hire someone who says that in an interview. Trump can't do proper business in the US so he whores himself out to Russians.
It's a joke about abortion. After 20 weeks in most (all?) states you can't terminate a baby.
But he'll see out his term as republicans are against terminating a baby.
Didn't say the guy was a genius, but the folksiness was definitely at least partly an act.
Shit if the stuff with Pence is true he may be out too
We don't need to make excuses for him...he's just a big dumb fucking idiot and he's been that way his entire life
Or did they?
Good God, I don't think Paul Ryan is a much better option than these guys.
And some of the time it's his brain working like when he flubbed the "fool me twice" line.
He knew damned well it's finished with "shame on me" but he also knew that would be repeated endlessly in ads against him if he said that so it was basically like the rhetorical equivalent of just dumping the ball out of bounds.
Well, wouldn't he be gone too? He knew money was coming from Russia and didn't do or say anything except (paraphrasing) "lol but our little secret right guys? Don't leak this pls thx"
He fired him. What else is he supposed do?
Wow, I've always thought his name was "Steven Skeep" this whole time.
It's not just unreadable, he doesn't actually say anything either. It's just... word soup.
my mom died suddenly when i was 16. hit me pretty hard. i developed substance abuse problems. ten years later, i'm finally at peace with the situation & don't abuse drugs & alcohol anymore. yay.
This is purely speculative. I don't disagree, but we have no proof of Trump using cocaine.
It's a disservice to drug addicts to make that assertion.
Iran deal bad because Obama
Because being able to pass high school algebra and actually have intelligence related to common sense are two separate things. His parents raised him to have such an incredible level of narcissism and lack of self-introspective that you've got a 70 year old man who, no matter how incorrect he is constantly, will never see himself other than a victim of being just too smart. The voices in his head and the people around him have stroked his ego for decades.
No amount of education would have safe guarded this from happening, since there are tons of other rich kids who grow into delusional rich adults.
Let's not assume anything. He may be smarter. The difference is that you don't have impossible delusions of grandeur, narcissism, and entitlement. That puts you WAY ahead.
Its like when Dwight Schrute makes himself assistant to the assistant to the regional manager when he's already the manager.
Because he's fucking senile it's the only possible explanation.
He did fire him?
Yep. Started adopting a mild Texas accent when I lived there because it helped me fit in much better (and because I was tired of being asked where I was from every five minutes).
After a decade of that, I've lived in Colorado for several years now and I still haven't been able to shake it. I even use "y'all" non-ironically. Crazy.
You start playing a role for enough years and eventually it just becomes natural.
Watch the Bush v Richards debate for governor. He's dumb
The guy's on camera all the time and misspoke a few times. Doesn't mean he's dumb. If you were on camera as much you'd be worse.
Cruel, heartless, disengaged from important issues and therefore frequently ignorant, yes. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/frank-schaeffer/w-the-merciless-what-well_b_149121.html But not dumb.
p sure it's a life of privilege, wealth, & fame that made him this way.
A steady diet of cocaine will make you feel invincible. Hell, even just one bump will do that. Trump seems like someone who likes a little booger sugar, so he probably just thinks he can do no wrong.
Republican here, but not a Trump voter (I voted Johnson). I feel like Trump is a victim of his own ego. I am sure he figured that he was a better judge of character then Obama. Or the DoJ. or his advisers. I truly think that Trump believes he is doing the right thing for the country, but his head is so far up his own ass that he can't see the world around him.
Unlike Trump, who said in his face the nation interview, "I stand by nothing" when trying to dismiss a question about whether he stood by his tweets.
Did nothing? He fired him as head of the DIA and then warned Trump not to hire him. Holy shit you fuckers are so dense.
Why can't they just rip him out of office?
My aneurysm just popped out of my nose
edit: I think this would be a great addition to my pasta collection
I warn our kid not to draw on home walls, my wife warns our kid not to draw on home walls, he himself parrots that he should not be drawing on home walls, he nevertheless goes ahead messes up the wall.
24 weeks is when most babies reach what is referred to as "viability". This is when a baby is more-likely-than-not to live outside of the womb if it were to need an emergency c-section or due to premature labor.
20 weeks is when the baby can live outside of the womb. The odds are much lower for 20 weeks than 24, but before 20 weeks it is nearly impossible for a baby to survive on its own.
Thus, why the range of 20-24 is typically used for abortion policies.
That comment was made during the campaign. That was in March 2016.
So...the voices in his head. Article 25 STAT!
