My proudest gaming achievement: after at least 2000 hours, two corrupted save files, countless enduring friendships, and nearly 5 years I have finally gotten the Platinum Trophy in Gran Turismo 5. So long, and thank you so much for all the fish.

A guy who actually plays race games online daily! Uh... Wow. I gotta say, sticking to a game like that for 5 years is impressive. A true hardcore gamer Id say

Its impressive but there are no trophys earned between 2014 and 2017 tho? I mean I've always expected that a lot of what this guy does in a year could be knocked off in a couple of hours.

Edit: Sorrys for the typo!

This may not mean much to most of you, but it has been a truly emotional ride for me over the years. The online community in this game was incredible, and I spent many nights up until 3 or 4am organizing and competing in casual tournaments.

One big extra shoutout to OinkOink and Valdudes for building such positive fanbases, and for all the help they provided along the way.

Time to start modding I guess..

Two corrupted save files would do that. Starting over from the beginning would be a bitch.

ACK

YOU BEAT THE ENDURANCE RACES.

HOW MUCH PATIENCE DO YOU HAVE

So much patience I even did them all in B Spec

I love that car... Quad Rotor sounds like Zeus came into your house, stepped on a lego, and proceeded to chase you through hell at 200MPH

Just so that everyone understands why OP is so hyped about this Platinum trophy, rightfully so and he might not know it himself, this is not just any Platinum trophy.

Gran Turismo 5 is one of the 10 hardest Platinum trophies on PlayStation overall. It's all the way up there with games such as WipEout HD, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Street Fighter IV, Fight Night Round 4, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and a couple other games.

Obligatory updoot for Rick

pfft.

i did 24hr le mans...

in a 787b...

in A spec.

i did not do any of the others after that

With a 0.1% unlock rate, I think its really cool regardless of the fact that I don't play the Grand Turismo games. Congratulations! =]

exotics is bullshitting.

10 hours is NOT the maximum.

there are TWO 24 hour races you have to do, one at nords and one at le mans

Yes they are stored on your online account. However, if you earn the trophy once, it sticks there no matter what happens.

Progress-based would be the issue. I haven't played GT5, but let's say there's a trophy for driving 100,000 miles. If you get the trophy, it sticks regardless if you lose your save file. But if your save file gets wiped at 99,999 miles, good-bye progress trophy.

Maybe it's because of the 1 hit kill campaign mode, a flashbang can kill you only. 3 % got it

2000 + hours and still cant take a screenshot :D

Definitely less than 0.1% They'll round anything > 0.1% to 0.1%, because saying it has 0.0% chance is nonsense to most people.

Good shit. I broke my platinum cherry on Fallout 4. Fuck those settlers and their happiness

One take. There's also the 24hr LeMan race.

Aside from pausing the game, you gotta complete it in one session

Call of Duty Black Ops 3

This is just really long rather than hard isn't it? I assumed the low platinum rate was due to more casual people playing the game.

The platinum.

0.3% got the campaign trophy, 0.1% got plat

I love so many of the ridiculous race cars in the game. Favourite piece of trivia I picked up is that in certain test specs the 787B was putting out 930BHP from its engine. Its engine which is, need I remind you, a 2.6 Litre rotary

Think you mean less than 0.1% yea? You used a greater than sign

Fun-fact, online servers were taken down from GT5 a while back... Is why I stopped playing it.

Are psn achievements not stored on your account? I suppose if some are progress based then that would make sense

That's awesome! Congrats! The platinum trophy just makes you feel like a badass, you know? The first one I ever got was in either Uncharted 2 or 3 and I was fucking ecstatic!

Good job, OP.

No I mean in real life, under certain test builds, that engine was putting out 930BHP... that's mental
