I like Luke, everyone on the show thinks he's dumb but he's actually quite witty and plays the fool to get what he wants.
I think the Luke and Phil combo is my favorite of the show.
I just recently decided to check the show out. The first episode I saw had Luke run right through a screen door and from that moment on I was hooked.
The one-liner arguments between the characters are what the make the show so great (for me).
Haley - "Oh, I am sorry, were you trying to read?" Alex - "You're the one that tries to read."
Alex (going through a goth phase)- "Don't you have a frat house to pass out at?" Haley - "Don't you have a raven to train?"
i mean she's six
Phil and Cam need their own spin-off where they solve crimes.
Meh... 5/10, you're trying too hard.
Yeah they are great together, especially the most recent episode
"I'm going to Canada to avoid the draft!"
Gloria's Mom - Girls stop fighting! I don't have a favorite.
Gloria - Why the hell not!?
Manny is the only character on the show who I think has gotten worse. He seems very forced.
Don't be a dick.
he's actually a genius in real life, graduated high school at 13 and has an iq of like 140
"I am brave. Rollercosters? Love em. Scarey movies? I've seen Ghostbusters, like, seven times. I regularly drive through neighborhoods that have only recently been gentrified. So yeah, pretty much not afraid of anything." -Phil Dunphy, American Badass
I love Modern Family! Lily has so much sass. "Does somebody need a wambulance?"
Worst super power ever.
Is that the little shit from The Hangover that tazes Galifianakis in the face?
"I can smell the bacon and reasonably priced healthcare"
"Marry a woman who looks sexy when she's disappointed."
too bad she's such a bad actress
The recent episode where he's announcing the high-school football game and constantly berating one of the players on his own school's team had me in stitches.
Phil shoots Dylan in the first episode. The show started out really strong, and honestly season 5 so far has been my favorite.
TBS, funny as long as we didn't create it.
I haven't met anyone who likes Manny.
He brings nothing to the show as far as I'm concerned.
I'm guessing I wasn't the only one watching that Marathon last night!
Very funny! (Except not, most of the time...)
That kid looks like a young Andy Richter
Definitely best family comedy, so many of them are formulaic and stale but modern family keeps it fresh
Best comedy on network tv in my opinion.
Phil's catch phrase could be .
It's from Hyperbole and a Half. It's Allie Brosh's coping mechanism for dealing with people who pretend "alot" is a real word.
I would actually give that title to Jay. Manny is "the dramatic theater kid" and "the smart one".
Obvious troll is obvious.
He's also a member of Mensa iirc
More stuff for you to learn today: IQ is normalized so that 100 is the average and 15 is the standard deviation. That means that about 68% of the population falls within 85-115, and 95% of the population falls within 70-130. An IQ of 140 (2.67 standard deviations above the mean) would put him within the top 0.5% of the population, assuming I'm remembering my statistics class correctly.
Oh goddammit, I'm so tired of these negative karma collecting accounts. Don't you have anything better to do then get people worked up.
It's still formulaic, but good characters and really good dialogue makes it work.
Exactly. Because otherwise he's a one dimensional character. A good example is the kid from "Two and a half men". At first he was a naive, semi sheltered 10 year old boy. So when he was oblivious about Charlie's sexual antics and said dumb shit it was cute and funny. Now, 5+ years later, they have the actor saying the same kind of naive oblivious lines but it's not cute, the character is just an imbecile now.
They need to evolve the character because it's not the Simpsons, he can't stay 10 years old forever.
"I want to make the baby dead!"
She is beautiful looking, but her voice grates on me. And when she gets upset she sounds like a banshee.
"Except clowns. Never shared that with the 'fam, so shhh! I do have an image to maintain. I am not really sure where the fear comes from, my mother says it's cause when I was a kid I found a dead clown in the woods. But who knows?"
What are you talking about!? He's the straight man for the entire show!
The Luke/Phil relationship is by far my favourite but Jay/Manny have their moments too...
Half of my reasoning for watching this show is the comedy, the other half is Sofia Vergara
Manny is awesome. The episode where a grown woman shows up to find out that her internet heartthrob is a young kid is hilarious. All his lines in that bit are just so smooth.
<3 /u/Tubemonster. Alli Brosh is awesome.
Luke is always awesome,
just try to keep his karma at 0...
a little off topic
