Keep getting booted from client and given a patching error
Saying "We restored this installation to an older version of LoL. Now we'll try to patch it up to the latest version."
Followed by "There was a problem patching LoL. We'll restore a backup version and try updating again after you restart the patcher."
Seems reinstalling league WILL NOT fix the issue.
EDIT: Tried setting my clock back a few hours/days. Didn't work. Was hoping this would be resolved by the time I got up :[ Seems to be a login in/Authentication issue now. It's evolved.
I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY LOGGED IN.
Well an hour ago the game worked, makes sense mate.
TR server, getting the same error. Found a fix:
Change your Time&Date. Set it 1 hour before. This seems to fix many people's client.
Edit: Well apparently League's timer is catching up :P So if going back 1 hour didn't work, try 2 or more. For those who think this is not safe and what, this is just a temporal fix. Don't forget to correct your Time&Date after your URF games. Have Fun!

Guys, do not try to uninstall and reinstall. Like the OP said, it will NOT fix the issue and I saw this post too late and can confirm.

I believe it's the connection from our pc to riot. No connection or firewalls, I even disabled my firewalls and nothing worked.

Yep. Same here. Just started happening. The hextech repair tool crashes with a "Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) client Application has stopped" error.
Edit: Run the "lol.launcher.admin.exe" with "Run as administrator" from the game install folder and that'll resolve the issue.
Edit2: Click properties on your LoL shortcut and --disable-patching in the "target" area. So it should look something like this:
"C:\Riot Games\LeagueClient.exe" --disable-patching
Too late for me as well. Were you able to reinstall? I get an "update failed" message as soon as I start the launcher.
edit - Deleting LoL package manually from my Applications folders (on OSX) then downloading and running the installer got me past this issue.
It's very common issue with patches. If you've been online gaming for a long time you've bound to have come across it.

Note for everyone saying its not longer working:
An hour after this is posted, you will need to go further back. Just set it back a day and you should have a 23 hour window until it catches back up with the glitch.
I am sure Riot Support will fix it by then.
The time at which it will stop working is when your computer's clock reaches about 12:30 PM EST. The reason why is because this 'patch' is scheduled for that time.

I'm less concerned with how it works than I am with figuring out how someone found that fix...
Maybe something to do with patch timings and the current patch its pushing is corrupted or something? Pure speculation though.

There's nothing that support will be willing to do. Unfortunately, they can't just credit a win/rollback a loss. It wouldn't be fair as it's not feasible to do it to all players.
Delete your \RADS\solutions\league_client_sln folder if one exists in your League install. Delete all but your "installer" folder in \RADS\projects\league_client\releases directory. Run \RADS\projects\league_client\releases\installer\deploy\LeagueClient.exe.

Fuck, I just went through all their trouble shooting options and re installed. Still didn't work, got real mad and started yelling and swearing at my cat.

Every single time i ran the repatch the application would just stop working; happening to a friend of mine just the same way.

Yeah, it seems that fixing the connection was the remedy in the past. And since it's suddenly happening to multiple people at the same time, both Mac and PC, across regions, the connection issue is most likely on Riot's end. I guess we just wait for them to do something.

Run the Hextech Repair Tool with the "force repatch" option on; that fixed it for me.
