Bug 1 - "Phantom Translocate"

This is an old bug that was fixed last February (Patch 1.8.0)

Bug 2 - "Ghost Throw"

This bug was fixed in Patch 1.14.1

Bug 3 - "Lagging Hitbox"

This bug was fixed in 1.13.0

Bug 6 "Sombra Hack Priority"

We don't consider this a bug. This was the developer comment at the time:

“Keep in mind there is a 0.1s delay before the beam is allowed to break. So if you recall with less than 0.1s left on the hack, it will complete. This is intended (for now...)”

Please let us know if you're still experiencing the "fixed" bugs in the current, live game and we need to revisit them.

We're still looking into the rest of the list.

you know what would help them. a proper f*n bug reporting system. IN GAME. Come across a bug, hit 'highlight'. Report the bug, it can attach the highlight and since the highlight is in BNet. hey it's already save there is zero reason to upload it. attach it into the system for the devs or someone to look at.

Yes, they may get a lot of false positives, but it also may show them other things that could be tweaked.

But I still experience the ghost throw though ):

That means you need to document it and share it with the OW team so they can see when it is an issue.

If Sombra dies in the middle of a translocation, the next translocator she activates will glitch the camera and make Sombra face a random direction after she teleports. Not the biggest deal in the world but does cost precious seconds in overtime to reorient myself.

And while I have your attention... can it be made so that Sombra can interrupt her reload with Hack? And could hacked enemies glow purple instead of red?

I've seen allot of Sombra lately in comp and one thing that bothers me about it is her hack, When she hacks somebody no one really knows about it. sure, it makes a cool little noise and has the little purple effect around it. But no one really notices it, especially in a huge battle. How about when she hacks an enemy a purple skull shows above their head? That would make it so the people on your team would know that for instance, Reinhardt is hacked and he has no shield for a second. Or even Mercy so you know that she can't fly away for a couple seconds. We need something that's more noticeable than a sound.

*I understand that Sombra is already an amazing hero that has been quite popular lately, she is great at what she does, and her play style is really fun. *

But, I feel that she is still missing some things that are stopping her from reaching her true potential.

1. All Bugs must be fixed.

2. Sugar Skull needs to show up above a hacked enemy.

3. The spread on her Machine Pistol needs to be reduced.

4. Out of Stealth shoot time needs to be reduced, or removed.

(There used to be an exploit to avoid the delay time when coming out of Stealth and everyone begged for it to stay, it wasn’t OP at all, it just felt more natural and we would love it if that was re-implemented into her ability as an intended functionality).

**: Yes, if Sombra were to get these changes, she would have to get her Ultimate Charge Rate decreased in return, as this is a good comprise when it comes to balance.

*Ex: The fact that I can’t even flank behind the enemy choke point at a fair distance and destroy Symmetras Turrets without using nearly 20+ bullets is ridiculous because most of the time when you do flank, you can’t just stand right infront of the choke point and easily shoot targets, you need to be hidden at a distance behind the enemies so you can tend to other things after. Not only that, Sombra is pretty useful when it comes to killing Low HP heroes, but most of the time, you can’t even get the kill because your bullets don’t land at a distance, or by the time you even try to get close to them so your bullets will actually hit, they’re already healed up and you’re forced to run away or try and get the kill and risk dying.

*** **As far as the time to come out of Stealth, the delay to shoot needs to be reduced, or removed. It might seem wierd to compare her to other heroes, but c’mon... Tracer can Blink in your face 3 times and blast you, Genji can Swift Strike through you, turn around and use your own abilities against you.. But yet Sombra can’t come out of Invisibility without saying an entire sentence, having the whole enemy team notice her, already damaging her before she can even shoot one bullet? That’s just not right!

The Developer Team seems to be so scared to improve Sombra, but in reality... what would it hurt to try? Maybe this is what she’s needed all along. The fact that so many other Offensive Heroes that are high skilled can deal as much damage as they do, such as Genji or Tracer, yet Sombra can’t get the slightest improvement because shes a “stealthy hero” that can’t be compared to other DPS heroes? I’m tired of hearing that, I love Sombra she is the only reason I play Overwatch and I love everything about her, but I just can’t take this anymore. It wouldn’t hurt to try something that the community and us Sombra mains have been begging for. QoL Changes, Improvements to her Weapon, Ability Buffs, Bug Fixes. Sombra recently got her Hack ability buffed which is great, but at this point, all she needs are the things I’ve listed above, a small change can make a big difference for the better. Like I said, it wouldn’t hurt to try.*

Sombra might be gaining some popularity but it never lasts for more than a month because people start to realize that many other heroes can do her job much better, such as Tracer or Genji since they can also disrupt and actually deal a good amount of damage along side reliable abilities in most situations, unlike Sombra. ]

*- increase the translocating speed animation, so that you're less likely to die whilst teleporting. Or, make sombra invulnurable as soon as she translocates, until she's finished teleporting. *

reduce the time taken to enter and exit stealth mode by half

allow sombra (and even mccree) the ability to disable soldier's ult with hack/stun.

reduce stealth cooldown from 6 to 5 seconds, so it's more in line with the translocator cooldown.

increase translocator duration from 15 to 18 seconds

reduce area of sound of hacking health packs to 10 meters

edit: other good suggestions from thread:

increase her invisibility duration from 5 to 6 seconds

allow emp to go through the payload

allow teammates to see hacked targets

add a dynamic indicator next to her ultimate (showing: 1,2,3,4,5 or 6). This shows the amount of heroes that will be affected by her ultimate ability.

show a skull above hacked targets like in the uprising event

nothing more than this needs to be done, she's in a great spot right now and only needs a few minor changes like this, alongside the inevitable nerf of some heroes like soldier, which should slowly see her playtime increase as people get to know her better (which many don't bother doing).

Hi, I'm a Grandmaster Sombra main with over 150 hours of competitive play, and after all this time I've come to the conclusion, that whilst Sombra is better now than she ever has been, she's still missing something to make her feel as useful as other dps heroes.

Let's get straight to the point, Sombra, a hero that requires an incredible time to master (50 hours+), is able to be of use to the team, but currently she really only takes advantage of two things:

1) enemies with massive hitboxes, like Torbjorn or zenyatta, which she's actually able to get consistent damage on.

2) uncoordinated teams that have 0 ability to team up, which allows her to target isolated players and have a fair chance of killing them.

if you're playing with a team that knows how to call out your location, or that knows how to heal team mates, or that knows how to stay in a group, or that has a small hitbox, then Sombra basically becomes useless as she simply doesn't have a kit strong enough to be able to help her team as much as other dps heroes such as genji or tracer, who are more useful than Sombra is.

she still needs many of her bugs fixed which can ruin competitive games, and she also needs a few more quality of life buffs so she feels more useful to the team, which should bring her up to par with other flankers like tracer and genji.

here are the changes that have been suggested on part 1 of the thread that were immensely popular:

bugs :

fix the "ghost throw" translocator bug.

fix the "cam spin" translocator bug, where the camera sometimes spins 180 degrees when you teleport.

fix the damage taken after translocating bug

fix the "successful hack" sound that plays when you fail to hack an enemy

*increase the translocating speed animation, so that you're less likely to die whilst teleporting due to the hitbox remaining behind for 1 second too long. Or, make sombra invulnurable as soon as she translocates, until she's finished teleporting. *

quality of life : (choose 2-3 of these and add them to the PTR, not all need to be added)

reduce the time taken to enter and exit stealth mode by half

allow sombra (and even mccree) the ability to disable soldier's ult with hack/stun.

reduce stealth cooldown from 6 to 5 seconds, so it's more in line with the translocator cooldown.

increase translocator duration from 15 to 18 seconds

reduce area of sound of hacking health packs to 10 meters

increase her invisibility duration from 5 to 6 seconds

Yes she almost is!

At first, when I saw her 2 buffs on the PTR I thought it wouldn't solve anything at all... but I was wrong, very wrong.

As a Sombra main I just can't believe how much her 2 "minor" buffs could change her so much. She plays a lot faster now than before and she does feel stronger already!

I just seem to play better with her because of her increased pacing, something she really needed.

These 2 buffs really are a great improvement to her to make her a strong offensive disruptor!

However, there are still some things that Sombra could use for sure.

Sombra currently has some gamebreaking bugs with her translocater which causes unnecessary and lame deaths.

- *"ghost throw"*, this bug happens from time to time where it looks like Sombra throws her translocater but it hasn't been thrown out.

- *"fake translocator"*, this bug can be easily triggered when Sombra happens to throw her translocator at her feet, by doing this you will not be able to teleport back and you just translocate a few inches from where you were standing before.

**- *"Sombra ghost hitbox"***, While translocating Sombra leaves her hitbox behind while still travelling to her translocater its position which is very annoying since you still can get killed during the teleport. Basically everyone is suggesting this change and it would defintely help players finding Sombra her healthpacks when they're injured.It could be a very thin shiny purple line leading Sombra her teammates to the closest hacked healthpack nearby.

Her gun is fine, no it really is.Many people are commenting on fixing her gun but imo it really doesn't need any changes. I actually CAN get kills with it. It does heavy dmg at close range and the spread really helps out for those headshots even if you aim at the chest of a hero. Maybe, it can use a reduced spread fire but just maybe.

Her "EMP" should be an AoE ult but with object collision. (optional)

This is the only change that her ultimate needs to get, based from its visuals it should be an AoE based-ult.NOW, I'm not saying here that the ult should go through walls or objecta or whatsoever no. Making it AoE would let Sombra her EMP affect the players behind or next or above her.

I currently have no comments about her "Thermoptic Camo" since I'm still figuring out or this ability needs some changes or not despite its actual use is for positioning.

Sombra her sit and laugh emotes!When will she join the club ;)?

Sombra is close to being a perfect disruptor, I'm sure that with these changes she will be a more powerful pick.

Sombras translocate is a very powerful and useful mobility ability. It's one of the best things about her kit, but it's also extremely frustrating.

Multiple times I've translocated out of a bad situation only to find i'm either dead anyways or that I've taken damage mid-teleport. You may think that in the enemy's kill feed, the lag made it so I was still visible before I pressed e, but no. To them, I was still translocating anyways. One of the main offenders of this is Symmetra. Her beam follows you. The same thing when you're falling off a cliff. Your fast reflexes aren't rewarded. You can throw the teleporter and press e as fast as you can as you're falling, giving the illusion that you've made it out, only to find that you died anyways mid-animation.

I play both Sombra and Tracer and the inconsistency in Sombra's kit is very jarring and makes her unfun to play. It would be like if you could target Tracer WHILE shes recalling. I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's intentional, but fixing it would be an amazing quality of life change!

There are still two bugs with Sombra's Translocator. I've finally figured out how to reproduce them.

Try to throw the translocator at the exact moment it comes off of cooldown. Sombra will play the throw animation but the translocator won't actually come out and the cooldown won't trigger. My gameplay is getting fast enough that this is actually starting to affect my games.
