Invite #8: Axe
Pour up for chudat, he's gonna have to eat more onions
While I belive you are correct, Chillin has recently said that he is taking a break and focusing on commentary so I doubt chu will drop out and chillin will enter
I'm thankful Melee has Axe, even in the ruthless meta of 2017. Between his kind spirit, sick plays, and incredible results with a character he independently keeps relevant, he's an irreplaceable component of top level Melee.
sucks for the other top 8-10 players but axe's summer was more quality than the rest
I think he and Chillin agreed during Summit 4 voting that Chillin would opt out of its voting and Chu would opt out of Summit 5 voting. The idea was that it would increase their individual chances of getting in.
I think Chu should be able to make it through the voting easily now with how much Crewdat has grown this year. He's earned an invite with his skill and is a living meme - the true godlike combination for smash popularity.
Chillin can also get in either way as a commentator, though
I love Axe but rip Chu :(
I feel like Axe would pretty much win easily in the voting, but Chu really needs to work for it. Hope he has a good GTX/TBH.
Dreamhack Atlanta and Super Smash Con, the only two tournaments both have been in attendance at.
Axe is better
Armada said he'd be willing to practice Young Link with Axe, so hopefully they do that at Summit; I'd love to see Axe focus on that and finally have a fighting chance against Hbox (and possibly even Armada)
which is an amazing set with a heartbreaking end.
It really isn't an argument who is better for seeding purposes. Every event since EVO that both players have attended Axe has placed higher than Chu
They did that last year and then they lost doubles early and bustered
I feel like Axe would pretty much win easily in the voting,
So would Mang0, M2K, Hbox, etc.
It's not about who has an easier time in the voting. The better player will get invited.
Uhhh losing to Ginger, Tekk, and Jeapie are bad losses for a player of his rank, no matter how underrated they are, EastCoastJeff is a really bad loss, along with bad losses to Aephage and Mantis. He dropped off hard compared to last year, you'd have to be blind to not notice that
He has had some pretty rough losses early winter and spring, but still has had a good year overall with wins over Mango and M2K, and also took Armada to game 3 at Evo and Hbox to game 5 twice recently. Overall he's worthy of a direct invite this year IMO. Axe has also done pretty well at every summit (7th twice and then 5th twice. 3rd twice for Summit 5 and 6???!!). The only problem is when he plays Sfat, Westballz, or Plup as they all have a good record against him.
Can this please be our first wholesome copy pasta?
Or he could get Top 8 at either Big House or GT-X. I'd be shocked if Chu didn't make it in.
Polorizing is much better If you're trying to get votes or donations. You want a small dedicated fan base because those are the people who are actually going to go out of their way to donate and vote. If someone's liked but not loved why would people vote for him over say their favourite player ? The haters don't subtract votes from a player so they're pretty irrelivant. As much as I hate the comparison this is how trump was voted in, the dedicated few mattering more than the many haters.
By what logic
Heartbreaking for Plup :(
Also this was the second time Mango kinda stole a set on Stadium against Plup. At CEO 2015 Plup had it but the Windmill allowed Mango to recover and he won.
pelase donate to my boy /u/Anadeem93 he is suffering from a rare type of alzheimer that manifests at a much younger age :(
I'm thankful Melee has Alex19, even in the ruthless meta of 2017. Between his kind spirit, sick magic, and incredible results with a character he independently keeps relevant, he's an irreplaceable component of top level Melee.
no he's not lol
I think they're currently similar for the year, but for seeding purposes Axe should be higher due to his better results recently.
Axe has placed higher than chu for every event they've both attended since evo.
Chudat 's placings Evo 2017 - 17 Dreamhack atlanta - 9 SSC - 13 Shine 7
Axe Evo - 9th Dreamhack Atlanta - 4th SSC - 5th
Chillin definitely won't opt in as a player
Sfat has beaten M2K and Hbox his peaks aren't that much lower than Chu's plus he has a way better matchup spread across the top 20.
Yes but he's also polarizing. He has a dedicated fanbase but he's also very polarizing and has a lot of haters. Axe is generally liked by pretty much everyone.
I think you mean pour one out
Axe is crazy consistent outside of the top 20
Actually legendary reference, only a additional Zhu cameo could top it
I'm still pissed about Wizzy not getting invited... He should get a good placing at one of the two qualifiers but if it comes to voting I'll be scared for him.
i think Axe could get more money
i rewatched that ending combo moment a few times just now. insane.
