The “gaming router” marketing gone too far.

Faisal Mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan

Construction of the mosque began in 1976 after a $120 million grant from Saudi King Faisal, whose name the mosque bears.

The design features eight-sided shell shaped sloping roofs forming a triangular worship hall which can hold 100,000 worshippers, while the surrounding porticoes and the courtyard up-to 200,000 more.

Here's a few more pictures of this place

Truly a beautiful mosque, having visited it 7 years ago. Here are additional images (not my photos).

That honestly looks very epic

The four minarets are like towers, and they can be entered.

MEANWHILE AT THE LEGION HALL OF DOOM!

FTFY

Went there last summer, there’s a huge outside area that people can pray at as well.

I’m assuming you’d say the same thing about a church or a synagogue?

Who said anything about climbing the inside?

Some towers can be climb. But usually they just lock the gate though.

100k for that main inside part is def not true lol

Truly the wittiest of retorts.

Lol that's a city. And the suffix is -abad, not -bad.

If they meant 100k people praying, maybe. We Muslims stand shoulder to shoulder in packed lines so maybe more people will fit in?

Here is a quick fact abot this mosque:

It was originally planned to be built in Turkey right after when Vedat Dalokay, the architect, won the competition voted by the people, but was cancelled because the authorities thought the design to be “too modernist”. Instead, they built an almost exact copy of another mosque. Then Vedat dalokay took his design to Pakistan.

House of Quake

There aren't bells (I think). Usually there's a speaker or something at the top of a mosque's minaret and the adhan is called from up there.

Looks like it provides WiFi to the whole city.

You can appreciate a building for being a building

Yea its the faisal mosque in pakistan, google it, you'll find some amazing photos of it

They cannot. It's wrong. It fits 10,000 and someone on Wikipedia added an extra 0. The reference link says 10,000.

Haha i came here to say the same thing. Peace through power!

MORE ANTENNAS MEANS MORE GBPS!!!!

“The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers...”

―Recep Tayyip Erdogan quoting a famous poem, 1998

How in the world could they fit 100k people inside there? Doesn't look like it would even hold 20k.

There is no way 100k people can fit inside that hall. Unless maybe they were stacked on top of each other several layers high.

Wikipedia's reference is this and it says "The hall can accommodate 10,000 worshippers." which seems far more reasonable.

Someone maybe accidentally added an extra 0 somewhere...

Reminds me of The Temple of Nod in command and conquer
