Long live

The equivalent to the 117 year old woman who died today.

Before the blue corner became a refuge camp and/or dumping area

This is someone dying while having an MRI scan. Before you die, your brain releases tons and tons of endorphins that make you feel a range of emotions. Tragically beautiful.

I keep mine on 24/7 because I use it for folding

It got stagnant in the last 24 hours when it became a botfest

Why don't you turn off your computer at night?

Old people never die, they just go Missing in Action.

Edit: 117 Upvotes lol

Its mind blowing how it started like "yeah, lets put colors" and ended with suberb artwork! What would have we achieved if it were up for more 72 hours?

/sub/thebluecorner opened its borders for everyone to come and prosper with it!

I am guessing protein folding is being referred to. Protein folding is an active area of research as it may provide answers about diseases which can arise from protein misfolding. This is primary done through simulations which are computationally expensive, hence there is an effort to distribute the computational expense over volunteers who run a piece of their simulation on their personal computers.

I love you for this, really though, my mom died of cancer

Who the fuck are these people leaving tabs open for fucking weeks at a time sort your fucking life out mate

Yeah, what made /sub/place cool was that nobody knew how long we were there for, so better make the most of it while we were. I like that it was finite, and I like that it ended after 3 days, anything more would just be a contest in who had the least amount of life and/or bots.

That's why i think that new place people made now to make a new "year long /sub/place" thing is gonna fail hard. Nobody is gonna bother with it, after a few days it will only be the sad loosers that would actually spend years of their life in an online joke there, and bots.

ELI5: What's folding?

What level do you need explaining on what it is?

-> Computers -> The Internet -> The Web -> reddit -> /sub/place -> The Blue Corner

Pick your level and we'll explain from there and assume you know everything you need to know above that level.

Maybe because they simply put it to sleep?

Solving maths problems to help cure diseases. That's the ELI5 but there's much more to it.

Electricity

Im older than 5 and can't understand a single word in there

I have tabs open for months before I read them, fight me.

I always leave mine on because I can download games or programs or whatever at night and I use it during the day.

I remember at the time, on the Discord we discussed about maintaining our Blue Ocean or allowing artwork. The problem was if we didn't allow artwork we would be swamped anyway (because of how big we were; take Osu for example) with artortrash and be made enemies of alot of communities.

In the long run though it did get out of hand, we lost momentum and people joined other communities or fought to keep the very corner blue (which if you did, I SALUTE TO YOU COMRADE).

LONG LIVE THE BLUE WORLD ORDER.

thats a unix time stamp

PM me your address

So what does the flair actually mean? I get that the (531,970) is a location, but what about the 1491166727.31?

Using power of your PC to help scientistist better understand various diseases, wich will help to cure them

I'm sorry, English is my 456th language so I'm not exactly fluid it in, but I meant to say: "person that spends his time doing arbitrary annoying shit on the internet that nobody but him/her cares about."

Hope that made it clearer and possible for you to understand and that you can forgive me :)

True eli5: You can make your computer help people learn how to heal other people by doing all of the boring stuff that any computer can do.

Some folks were trying to keep the lower right hand corner blue. For the most part they succeeded.

Folding clothes on you computer can keep em nice and toasty to prevent wrinkles

i was joking please dont haha funny

It's a laptop maybe, maybe so they don't have to restart it every time, maybe they were running a program

PLACE BLUE TILES

If you have to ask you'll never know.

And do they keep running tabs at the bar that long?

John? John?

Because people started developing bots to build shit.

I leave my laptop on, plugged in, all the time. It's been $1.66-$3.04 on every Bill.

*shows scene from The Walking Dead

I left my desktop on for a month. Nothing really bad happened

What you spend extra on electricity you gain in heating! I always leave my pc running over night in the winter, makes a bigger difference to room temp than one might think

I do. I still live with parents so I pay board by paying for the electric bill and the landline. It's a bit pricey, but as a student with a part time job I have a fair chunk of money to buy useless shit so why not spend it on folding. ( Not that folding is useless)

Thanks! I wish the flair said what color you used.

Raptorexfilms, grandmas never die?

THE CORNER THANKS YOU FOR YOUR WORK BROTHER

I've still got a tab open of one of the blue corner's weakest times. What do I do.

RIP

On mobile?

Yessir. Mobile doesn't show the picture part of flairs for subs

Until this day I had no idea people turned off their computers regularly.

Intense scientific studies reveal that this is the last image your brain produces at the time of death.

Laptop consumes way less power though. But tbf PC's are getting more efficient

Laptops don't consume that much. If /u/UnauthorisedNoodle leaves his computer ON for 8 hours/night (while he is sleeping), consuming the average 60W, paying the US average rate of 11.88ยข/kWh, electric bill would increase just US$ 1.71 at the end of the month.
