Not even shown is the massive amount of suffering/death that has yet to occur as a result of climate change.
Don't let the Republicans in Congress escape the blame for this. They've been trying to end all this funding for years, Trump is just the best distraction. They pass the legislation they want with his signature and he gets all the blame. I told people if Trump won, the Republicans would have total control and he would be the distracting patsy, but I was just fear-mongering for Clinton apparently.
On average, there are 16 shark attacks per year in the United States, with one fatality every two years.
PROTECT AMERICANS! BAN SHARKS!
I really miss the good old days of 4chan. Before the /pol/ kids took over.
These arguments were made before the election. Fuckwads didn't listen to them.
You don't die from "obesity", you die from heart disease, diabetes, etc. As to your second point, fuck off.
Trump said Mexico was sending rapists.
He taunted his opponents with childish, playground insults like "little Marco", "lyin' Ted" and "Crooked Hillary"
He accused Obama of being a foreigner leading a big movement for the president to release his birth certificate. He then accused Obama for being the founder of ISIS.
He essentially got a carte blanche to name call and you're saying "nobody is swayed by name calling". Somehow he swayed enough voters even though he even proposed a wholly unconstitutional Muslim database and then backpedalled and lied about what.... Something he has been known to do for a long time now.
"Racist", "homophobe", and "misogynist" are not insults if what someone is doing is characteristic of racism, homophobia, and misogyny. There was a lot of discussion during the campaign about the ramifications of a Trump presidency given what was said then that didn't boil down to "name calling" as you put it. A lot of people viewed Trump as a strong candidate who could "make America great again" because he said things that resonated with people that had their viewpoints―which were at one time, traditionally viewed by many as racist, homophobic and misogynistic―legitimized by a presidential candidate. That's why there was so much discussion of those things. It shouldn't be seen as the blame.
Shouldn't obesity be mentioned in this graph?
Obesity doesn't kill people, it's a risk factor for things that do.
If you want free healthcare, shouldn't you have to prove that you can maintain a healthy body?
Of course not. In fact, it's people who can't maintain a healthy body that need free healthcare the most.
I think you're mistaken. Tom the Dancing Bug is great, it's the world that's not very hilarious any more.
For any of you who haven't seen it, he has a recuring series he did called Donald and John about this eight year old and his imaginary friend John (as in John Miller the fake Trump publicist). It is the only Calvin and Hobbes parody I've ever seen that actually gets the spirit of the original right.
Great white sharks. True patriots for the American way
Not to quibble, but, this cartoon Trump isn't obese enough.
So you're saying the argument that swayed you is name calling, as long as it's an entire ethnicity and not an individual millionaire douchebag?
Hijacking this top comment for exposure. I feel like Trump's proposal to gut the NIH hasn't received enough attention on Reddit.
Nobody is swayed by name calling ...
Trump fans seem to be.
The numbers seem to be legit. This is for heart disease.
My main scepticism is how the values actually relate to each other. Not all of them present the growing concern that is needed. (esp. climate change).
But it's not just that. He's absolutely to blame for some of the things himself. So far, most of what Congress has put in front of him was just Congressional Review Act-enabled reversions on anything Obama has done since mid-July (things like the AHCA haven't even touched his desk yet). The crazy EOs like the wall and the travel ban are all him, as well as the rescinding of the (actually on-hold) Title IX "Dear Colleague" letter.
∼200,000 early deaths occur in the U.S. each year due to U.S. combustion emissions according to this 2013 MIT study.
The rest of the figures come from 2014 CDC data (Page 5). [PDF Warning]

Hands are too big. Otherwise it's spot on.
I believe every minute that passes while Trump's travel ban is shut down by sane people, he prays to the moneygod that someone commits a terrorist attack in the name of allah.
Nothing happening must really bother him. It is sad that noone mentions a calm time, while everyone knows that their species will go full apeshit once something happens.
Trump didn't have a health plan before the election. He had no policy positions besides grandstanding bullshit
I remember when Tom the Dancing Bug was hilarious. These days it's just sad. So horribly sad.
I still love Reuben Bolling's art though.
That was an American citizen, not an immigrant. Don't drink the Kool-Aid.
White males are sometime rapists. Just stating a fact.
Not to mention the causes of obesity being so high in the U.S. even when compared to well-off countries.. it's not people being stupid or choosing to buy bad food.
Nobody is swayed by name calling; only actual arguments matter.
If that's what you got out of the election, then you seem to be a bit confused about who won.
You joke, but that's an actual thing Australia tried to do.
I think all the scientists are still busy staring into a wall and contemplating switching careers.
Of course, I know he is responsible for quite a bit of the stuff going on himself, but I'm willing to bet money that when the impeachment begins, the Republican congresscritters will attempt to shift the blame all on Trump. The sad thing is I don't whether his rabid fans will turn on him and follow the party line, or start rioting against the GOP.
In the comic, it refers to Islamic jihadist immigrants. Orlando nightclub shooter wasn't an immigrant. He was born in the US. But I don't know where the 2 per year stat comes from. It's (much) higher if you include 9/11 and lower if you disregard it.
