EA Releases Progression Adjustment Update

EA Releases Progression Adjustment Update

Friend of mine is telling me the daily crate gives 15 crafting parts instead of 5 now. That turns what used to be a week's worth of crates into 2 days.

people don't want crates as a progression system.

Better. Still not great, but better.

You'd think they could've put some actual numbers in there instead of a vague "We made it better, y'all!"

Text for those at work:

It's been a busy few weeks for Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II. We’re excited to have launched the game to the world, but recognize that there have been some challenges along the way. We have learned a lot, and are making adjustments to the game to ensure the best experience possible. On Tuesday, an update is rolling out that begins the Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II The Last Jedi Season by kicking off factional challenges, letting you choose a side and start competing for rewards as either The First Order or The Resistance.

Today, an update went live that includes some adjustments to the economy and progression. While these are only some initial steps toward making much larger changes, some of these are ready to roll, and are available starting today.

The end-of-round payout has been increased. This is an area we agree needed to be buffed a bit, especially when it comes to rewarding players for doing well in-game. We're upping the number of Credits you get for a match across the board, and specifically bumping the top players on each team by even more.

Earn 3X more Credits daily in Arcade Mode. It's been made clear that you were hitting the Arcade Mode Credit cap faster than we expected, so we wanted to alleviate that by increasing it to 1500 Credits. While we're still looking into ways to add more content into it the mode in the long-term, we think that this should help in the near-term for those who want rewards for completing the different scenarios.

Daily Login Crates will now provide more crafting parts than before. You'll notice the change right away when you log in. Crafting the Star Cards you want will help make sure you're progressing in the direction you want, and we absolutely wantto empower that. This should help you get where you want to go faster when it comes to crafting and upgrading.

Things kick into high gear over the next few weeks, during the Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II The Last Jedi Season, with free* heroes, maps, and vehicles. Stormtrooper-turned-hero Finn joins the fight for the Resistance and Captain Phasma steps on to the battlefront for the First Order. New locations and vehicles will also arrive: you can fight on the ground on the salt-covered planet of Crait in Galactic Assault mode, or take to space in the Starfighter Assault map of D'Qar (flying Tallie Lintra's RZ-2 A-wing, a vehicle you'll be seeing in the film).

And, of course, Iden Versio returns in Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II Resurrection during the days of the First Order’s rise to power. These new chapters of Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II’s single-player story mode will be available December 13.

People don't want the current progression system as a progression system

It's a daily crate, it's not supposed to give you a ton

I'd be surprised if any overhaul happens before Jan 2018.

The dev time involved in getting ready for the last Jedi content probably overshadowed the fixes needed.

Still not even acceptable, but yeah, better.

Stop normalizing this shit. These are skinerbox mechanism that are predominant in F2P games. How blind are you people ? You are saying that its okay to put these free to play games mechanism in full blown tripple A 70$ game. What the heck is wrong with you people NORMALIZING this shit

It just seems like they pushed the boundaries on what customers would take until there was pushback. But EA refers to it as "We are listening and engaging with our community making the game better."

No EA, you are just retroactively making it less shitty because you guys did this on purpose from the start. These changes shouldve been more balanced to begin with.

Better than nothing but it is just a start. I expected more, will see...

They need to answer for their initial statement of duplicate cards giving crafting parts and they now give you credits.

Who else got scared for a second when they saw the asterix after free?

It’s not even a progression system, it’s all luck based.

Sooo... Increase Credit rewards slightly to try and make us happy, leave current progression system in completely unaltered so that it remains for Loot Crate microtransaction reactivation, gotcha...

It's from leveling up

1000 credit matches??? You sure you're not leveling up and stuff because that's an awesome jump.

Just played a full match on Tatooine. First round defending we held the cantina and I received a payout of 315 creds. As empire we rolled over the rebels and captured every point. I still only received 305 creds and finished in 5th place....

because changing numbers without properly testing things is what a fucking monkey would do, if you cant see why thats worse, please find out why

Vague update is vague. I'm still holding off on buying the game.

This is insane. Literally all the changes are things that can be adjusted the day of. Why do they need a committee to increase arcade payouts. Just do it within the first 24 hours.

Is it a step in the right direction? Sure. Still feels like it's not enough though.

And rightly so. This games progression is atrocious

I'm just saying that you shouldn't get a huge amount of crafting parts just for opening the game.

You shouldn't get any, because crafting parts shouldn't be in the game.

If you need an incentive to open the game, maybe, just maybe, your game isn't very good.

Well, this should be live so let's see em...

Why the fuck have they still not addressed that in their earlier blog post they said that duplicates would give crafting parts. They still only give credits??? If you get a box full of duplicates you get less credits from the dups than you did buying the box in the first place, and make basically no "progression" to your characters at all. Fucking hell.

This guy ^ speaks the truth, Thank god there's still some people left with common sense.

Nothing is going to change, progression will still be tied to buying loot boxes. EA isn't willing to change its model just because some Star Wars fans got their panties in a knot. If you bought the game, I'm sorry but you are part of the problem.

LOOK, more credits to keep opening boxes that have nothing you want in it.

Hell yes they do. They should tell us either that they lied or that it was the truth at the time but explain why they changed their minds.

Higher credit earn rates means the paltry credits for duplicate cards is now even shittier.

Back in my day you just picked shit up off the ground...

This sub is leading me to think there isn't. And so much was/is (if it's not too late already) riding on this game. If this behavior from EA becomes acceptable, we're in deep deep shit for the future of gaming. And every idiot that bought the game are just eating all this shit EA is throwing in from their walled garden into their mouth. It's insane. It's just, insane man. I've got no other words to describe this trainreck of an "event". To think I personally know people that bought the game... It's not just online. The non-gamers crowd that was born in the MTX F2P ridden mobile games are letting these mobile games practices creep into the Tripple A market by actively supporting and buying the game. And on top of sucking EA's dick, they activly shout on top of all rooftops that we should be glad that EA's even talk to us nevertheless fuck us from behind without lube or vaginal cream. Fucking mess of a game. Sad EA owns the right to Star Wars. At this point, I would of preferred no Battlefront 3. Not that we would of guessed it would end like this anyways... Sometimes I think its too late to beat the odds. And with EA/WarnerB/Bleuhole/Hi-rez putting Progression systems behind RNG lootboxes in every god damn title already, we're already is deep trouble. 2014 was the year of DLC's, 2015 was the beginning of MTX, 2016 was the year of season passes & MTX, 2017 was the year of lootboxes, 2018 will be put another fucked up way to fuck us for more money bs

Get hero loot boxes, not trooper ones.

I don’t think you’re a bad person for exploiting a flawed system, but I just want to let you know you’re ruining the fun of people who just want to play the game.

These aren't the crates you're looking for

Everyone always expects more.

Aaaaand MTX stays in the mix with the superb P2W feature for the future.

Fuck you.

Hitting arcade mode caps faster than expected

Bitch it took me three arcade mode matches to hit it... didn't know 15 minutes was "Faster than expected"

Yeah, the 1500 credits is in there, but it would've been nice for them to say, like, "We made the base credit payout double, and you get an extra 50 credits for first-fifth place" or whatever they did.

The more transparency the better on this.

Yeah, spend 4,000 on a box only to get 800 credits back. That's complete bullshit.

This just seems like a token effort. They're probably still planning on bringing back p2w because if they weren't they wouldn't care how quickly we got upgrades and go ham on the credit buffs. Which, judging by the values in the critics' copies, is what we needed. I'll still wait until I hear people saying the new values are fun before I get this game.

You NEED to watch these. The time to fight is now.

That's kind of my point, though. It would've been nice to make it less sterile by putting in actual numbers.

e: BTW I love your username

it's live I can confirm

I played this morning and won 2300 in a single match; then the next 3-4 matches I won less than 200 in each

For real, leave that crap in f2p games

Because loot crates in general are not an acceptable form of progression.

That's weird, I have already seen 1000+ credit matches.

It doesn't, AFK farming is still strong.

It's half the price and gives you more crafting parts, which are what you really want.

i actually did buy the game. i just returned it immediately

nah

I'm saying he doesn't have any idea because changing the hard cap of a credit limit does not require multiple formulas.

Neither do I, nor did I ever say anyone else did. I'm just saying that you shouldn't get a huge amount of crafting parts just for opening the game.

Indeed. It might look like the switch of a button or increase X2, etc, but in reality it's just a lot more coding and adjusting things. Everything can go bad very fast without testing.

If something is exploitable, people will exploit it. Sadly this is like a law of nature. A designer ALWAYS has to take this into account, and if he fails to do so, the designer is to blame. Blaming the people that exploit won't solve anything. They won't change. The underlying rule-set has to change. Luckily this is a game where the designer has ALL strings in his hand.

Ironic. They can create the best looking games, but they can't design a scoring system.

Another law of nature: More people AFK'ing pisses more people off. More pissed off people make EA / DICE work faster & design better games in the future. So I'd kindly change the "Fuck you" into a "Thank you for your service" :-)

I don't know a lot of $60 games that reward you for logging in daily. That's mostly limited to F2P and P2W games.

How does this affect AFK farming?

savage

When they have broken your trust and your heart, nothing they do will ever be enough to repair the damage they have done.

A very small step in the right direction. But still, it's not enough. Not saying that's how it'll be forever, but they really need to pick up the pace here.

The 3x for credits earn in Arcade mode (1500 instead of 500 a day limit) is nice, but 3000 sounds much more reasonable to someone like me who actually enjoys single player content. But there again, the Arcade mode is so bare bones that it's not really enjoyable. Maps that are just a small portion of the actual map, only 10vs10, only elimination style options, and still you can't even make enough in Arcade mode in a day to earn yourself a Loot Box?

The game is lacking in so many areas like limited weapon selection, classes (that are point restricted and therefor considered 'reinforcements'), maps, modes, and single player content, features and modes that it makes me think SWBll was rushed out a year before it was ready.

Shame that, but maybe there's hope if the game isn't abandoned.

Why would I buy a broken game?

guys we made it better we swear. we cant show you the numbers or anything, but we promise we did.

They were probably running numbers and redetermining the minimum rate they want people progressing at.

You know. Don't want players progressing tooo fast now. Why would they bother buying Crystals then?
