Is this what it looks like from inside a Kleenex box?
I think you're right....Mind Blown
But... He isn't even finished chewing the previous one...
Cirque du Soleil shows use these. Except theirs are fucking enormous and take a little while longer to get vacuumed up. I had no idea they even existed and I was sitting front-row center. When the 100 foot squared 100x100 feet curtain right in front of my face vanished into thin air, my jaw dropped to the floor.
That alone was worth the ticket price. The show was great too.
I'm on my 20th view of this gif. I can't stop. Send help.
rocking with a leg in a cast, dedication
edit: to everyone saying he's a chill guy, read his foo fighter wikipage and tell me he's chill. I think he's just really driven
Grohl is the epitome of rock and roll. He may not be the best singer or guitarist, but damn his energy is contagious and his songs are pretty awesome.
He actually broke his leg on stage and had the doctor place the cast during the set.
The Foo Fighters aren't my go-to band by any stretch, but you can't help but respect Grohl for his contribution to modern music. He's worked with so many big names, been a part of massive bands and albums. To top it off he's such a
For a brief second it looks like a giant pair of lips is behind it.
he said it bigger though
This should help
This is a Kabuki drop system with a Sniffer. I have used it many, many times on shows I have toured with. Although cool, they are an incredible pain in the ass. Typically, the scrim/curtain just falls straight down to reveal the band. There are also really cool things you can do with scrim too. The scrim is (typically) transparent so you can shine light behind the band to put some really cool effects on the scrim
Ok but how does the curtain go back
Now I'm stuck watching this gif!!
Yeeeep, someone said that a few hours ago.
Or a butt hole.
*Something something broken arms Blown
Looks like it forgot a peice.
This is one of the best comments I've ever come across
Such an odd gif with incredible relevance.
Two types of people, apparently.
Ha, I've watched it 20 more times, and I still don't see the strings. I'm too dumb for you to ruin movie magic for me
There's a motorized drum in a box mounted above and behind the curtain. when it's switched on, it very quickly winds in a cord which is attached to the center of the fabric. As that starts, latches are released on the top, allowing it to drop. Timing is important - undo the latches too soon, and it falls before the line can pull it up. Undo the latches too late, and it gets bound up. When the timing is perfect... you get this .gif.
Shit, I never saw those strings on it before. Can't unsee.
edit: AHAHAHAHA RUINING CLASSIC MOVIES FOR OTHERS
You take slices of roasted duck, cover it in sauce, and wrap it in a "mini-pancake" along with some green onion and cucumber to make a mini-burrito looking thing.
I saw this at Cirque's O in vegas.. that entire show was amazeballs
I'm glad I'm seeing this as a looped .gif for the first time. Because if I was at a show and that happened, I'd be amazed, a little confused, And then I'd have a very strong urge to watch it a few more times but wouldn't be able to.
Look directly at the strings.
That thing sucks.
Actually, most people have both.
Try to imagine it from the mindset of the characters in Sausage Party. Definitely a horrible reality for what a tissue really is for.
Put a hashtag at the front...
(although this doesn't do it justice…)
That's called hyper-threading
Dim Sum the Hutt: "DUMPLINGS, bring me DUMPLINGS!"
The article I got that from is a good read
He's a Hall of Famer on drums however.
No seriously how does one make text bigger
But he didn't say "a 100 square foot curtain". He said "100 foot squared" which is (100 ft)2. It does sound weird though.
edit: Forgot to add these (), thanks /u/abc123shutthefuckup
Im so fucking high
Ok, but now how do you make it tiny
Edit: no seriously. How do you do tiny font?
oh god I didn't eat lunch today and now it's 7:35 and i'm so hungry this looks so amazing
I need some explanation...
As someone who has worked very hard to pull off cool effects in live theater: sometimes the best part is that it is surprising and you don't get to see it again. Let it keep the magic!
Ahhh staaaap! Too much cute! I can't stop giggling!
I'll bet when he shits it looks like that chain that comes out of the diaper genie.
it ripped the curtain
That's my secret Cap, I never stop chewing...
it's a bot
Well, he is not on the same level as Peart, Bonham, Moon, or Carey... with regards to drums. But he is great and deserves that right with being inducted with Nirvana.
He is a multi-instrumentalist that writes awesome songs and rocks out every concert.
What makes Grohl special is his passion and energy. He is great at whatever he tries do to do and inspires anyone who watches him. Letterman wanted them on his last show. Grohl is a great muscian, song writer, and even more so a performer. He is one of my most favorite people to watch do anything.
The man to the curtain hook...
"Please let go.."
Technically, they're just different ends of the same thing.
And that's how ravioli is made
Since no one answered. To put it up it is hung down from that bar up top and a cable is attached to the center where a ring is. Depending on the setup they can lower that top bar down and hook everything up from the ground and raise it up at the end or it can be done from up there and have everything dropped in place (less common).
like thisput carrots before the words.
the more carrots, the smaller
AHH, A MUTANT! KILL IT!
I'm sure you meant the curtain was 100x100 feet, but a 100 square foot curtain would only be 10 x 10.
The Kabuki drop and motor are closely timed. In the gif you can see the drum starts just before the Kabuki drop triggers.
(Falls to bended knee with hands out) Noooooooooooooooo!
Yea but besides that its not bad ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Never would have expected to see a video from Seeds Conference on reddit.
Jerry, Jerry... it's sperm, and nonsense.
-the guy in the gif.
Not one hundred percent, but if they are, they'd have to be pretty well calibrated, and as a techie I'm loathe to have anything suspended overhead that's not positively locked.
If they released when pulled on, someone could easily rip the whole thing down with a careless move on stage.
Today's the day for that. And also tomorrow and the next day 😅
I think he's kind of a modern day Paul McCartney. They both hit it big with globally famous, and genre-defining bands (In which both had band mates gone too soon). Then they both went on to do so many versatile projects and were able to adapt and stay relevant for many decades through collaborations, producing, writing, etc. Neither of them are the best musician per se, but they both can definitely write top notch songs.
I watched the gif several times but didn't notice the strings. Then I read your comment and now I can't unsee the strings.
but it never caaaaaaaaaaaaaame!
GHOSTS, GOD DAMNED GHOSTS. Every damned time.
I don't have a coffee problem! You know what my problem is? There's not a fresh fuckin' pot!
What is he eating
What a pro... just picks it right back up and delivers.
juuuUUUSTIN! FRESH POT!
