Awaiting the good news...

they look at the test...

OMG you're not pregnant!

i guess it's a tumor.

Once I saw someone who was so dumb they didn't realize that this ad for a pregnancy test is an obvious joke, and so decided to post it in /sub/facepalm

I've seen dumber people.

"i guess it's a tumor."

Please enlighten me haha.

Edit: Why the downvotes I was generally curious.

Edit2: thank you kind redditors

REKT

Isn't this supposed to determine the gender?

How could this ad not be interpreted as a joke!?!???!??

I am fucking blown away

Edit: not a joke, it's a gender prediction test. This is somehow worse

Actually my sister went to a Dr because she was having issues with her lady time. They were all like 'You are pregnant.' My sister was like 'Uh nope, because I have been bleeding like a stuck pig, and plus the whole not having sex yet thing.' The nurse gave her a ultrasound looking for a heart beat. When they could not find one they got her a MRI a few days later. Turned out she had a 7lb tumor attached to one of her tubes. Needless to say she had a super fun time after that.

why do you think that you know this?

because this is obviously a joke. the caption is “When you want to be sure.” The art director for this ad said

Since Predictor is 99.9 percent accurate, you’d rather depend on the test than your belly.

I thought this particular test was a gender prediction test and not actually a pregnancy test, making these reposts even worse

Nah, it's all quite normal, boil

That was my first thought when I saw it too. Then I googled it and the add is real for real early prego screening. Too fucking funny.

What makes you think that?

Yeah, that's the joke...this is a funny ad, not a facepalm.

What are you talking about? It's an ad. Those people were hired to be in that photo.

Which is what they intended. The facepalm is you and the other people not realizing that it’s intentional.

IT’S NOT A TUMAH

her tumor was so big, it could have been a three-mur.

Yeah I don’t get how some people in these subs are so oblivious so often, kinda makes me think the people in this sub are the real /sub/facepalm s

If it made you repost this here then they won and you are dumb

So is this sub exclusively for people not getting obvious jokes now?

His face: oh shit she's NOT pregnant?!?

Joke=/=facepalm

30 seconds for the diagnosis, 40 minutes for the doctors fucking their colleagues

We reached out to several of the creatives who worked on the billboard, and received a reply from Chris Sant, who was the art director on it. (He’s now a senior creative at J. Walter Thompson Amsterdam.)

“We didn’t know our ad would go viral after six years! Great!” he tells AdFreak.

And what about the dissonant image? Some have suggested perhaps the couple have just learned the gender of the baby. But nope. This is just your regular old pregnancy test—though an extremely good one, according to Sant.

“Since Predictor is 99.9 percent accurate, you’d rather depend on the test than your belly,” Sant says, adding that the agency did engage in a little “advertising exaggeration.”

So the picture of the product and their slogan in the corner isn't enough context to tell it's an ad?

I KNOW THAT IT'S AN AD. My point is that the company knows exactly why it's funny.

Why don’t you go ahead and read about Kevin.

"You are correct"

*is not correct*

Classic.

No, it's just a regular old pregnancy test. You can Google it.

This was an episode of Grey's anatomy, I'm not even kidding. Guy was convinced he was the world's first pregnant male. Nope, cancer.

He knows it because he absolutely can't be wrong, and if he said it's not a joke it must be true.

We are. We are all looking at the ad. An obviously pregnant woman was specifically hired to be in this ad. That means they had to make a casting call. Look at different profiles. Pick one of the options. Bring her in. Do her makeup and her hair. Get her into position. Take many photos. Pick the perfect one and digitally edit it to look exactly how they want. Pay that woman. Pay for the ad to be produced.

And after all that you believe that they didn't intend the woman to be pregnant?

Damn it, am I gonna have to google this myself? Why can't I trust comment chain strangers to give me the truth?! :p

This guy seems pretty fucking dumb.

Was it a 30 second episode or something?

There was actually a news article that interviewed the art director for this ad who basically said the exact same thing.

Good bot

I typed that into google (for shits) and the first thing to pop up was “Big Daddy's Fish Sticks with Funked Out Ketchup.”

Got any ketchup for my fish fingers?

Is it an amazing how an American healthcare there’s actually this opportunity for doctor to simply guess, not run any tests, assert things like “you’re pregnant”, and potentially have a patient walk away, confident that the doctor knows what they’re talking about and is right. Then later the patient either dies or come backs complaining again. Then the doctor runs a test they should’ve in the first place they find out that they were completely wrong. Later we end up saying things like “Lucky they caught it in time” or we don’t because luck wasn’t enough.

That's basically reddit in general.

Apparently the facehugger doesn't lay an egg but rather a cancerous growth that becomes a chest burster fetus.

So maybe she is pregnant, and it's a tumor.

not a joke, it's a gender prediction test

Every article I can find online about it seems to suggest that it is in fact a pregnancy test and that they did in fact do it on purpose. However I couldn't find the product itself so I can't confirm that 100%.

The joke is that the product is so accurate its more telling than literally watching a baby expand your wife outward

The guy definitely has that dopey look of Cousin Larry from Perfect Strangers.

"Now Balki, this means you'll need to sleep on the couch again..."

You are correct its a gender prediction test
