The article says, even though they are paid less than men in the same job, they'll make more money than men from their families' income bracket. Then it goes on to talk about women from high brackets marrying rich men. The whole connection is not well explained, at least.
You failed to read the article which gives more detail about the chart. It's household income. Women tend to marry into higher-income households.
