Its almost like ICE is a terrible organization.
They're the American Gestapo.
Trickle down corruption in effect.
Good thing Trump keeps hiring high school fucking dropouts to man ICE. Maybe they'll be more honest
Defrauding companies including American Express, Bank of America and Capital One. Now that's something that is taken seriously here mister. Fuck poor people all you want, stay away from corporates.
It's pretty clear America is unable to govern itself, someone please call an adult.
There are problems beyond enforcing the law. American citizens get wrongfully locked up by ICE, for example. That's the exact opposite of enforcing the law. Or, ordering local police officers to detain non-criminals for immigration purposes - that's against the law for them to do, yet an ICE chief said that politicians in sanctuary cities should be locked up for their refusal to do this - for following the law.
That's without even getting into the nuances of how you enforce laws - like, not arresting people at courthouses, because it undermines the legal system, for example.
He also allegedly used his official ICE email address to forward personal information of one of the victims, including an energy bill, a US residence card, and copy of a Chinese passport.
So not only is this guy an alleged thieving piece of shit, he's also an alleged dumbfuck. Committing felonies with your government work email, what could go wrong?
Not having proper documentation when dealing with a parole board is grounds for an ICE investigation.
Being locked up for an extended period of time with no due process is not an investigation. I'm not sure where a parole board comes in.
That's not the police officers fault that's politicians using judges and police departments to play political games.
I'm not blaming them for anything, I'm blaming ICE's leadership for claiming this legal authority that they don't have.
Why shouldn't they be? Not executing a higher command is a violation of the law regardless of your political positions?
What's a "higher command"? ICE is not in charge of local police departments.
I'd be interested in reading more about this.
There have been a few posts on this sub about it lately, specifically about New York lawyers organizing to protest ICE's practices. I imagine googling ICE, courthouse, immigration etc. will bring up many articles on the subject. In short, though, discouraging people from participating in the legal process - by arbitrarily detaining people in courthouses, or anywhere - is not a pro-law position. I say arbitrarily because it's impossible for ICE to detain every illegal immigrant, so (without clear priority guidelines, like Obama tried ti implement) it ends up being just random, unpredictable enforcement, which is like the worst way to treat the law.
What this guy said.
One of the anti-immigration talking points I hear from Trumpsters is how undocumented immigrants are criminals because they have to steal people’s identities to work. I guess that’s another check for projection.
They’re the only federal law enforcement agency that Trump has not attacked repeatedly.
If only there were a system by which a country could let in new people to fill these jobs that Americans are too incompetent to staff.
Trump and Gop took my democracy and won’t give it back
I don't think the trouble in finding ICE agents is America... It's a job where what you do for a living (especially under Trump) is fuck with people for a living. Ruin lives or leave travelers to die of thirst in the desert. We recently had the thing where they wanted to force an immigrant minor to un-do an abortion in an experimental procedure.
We have plenty of people who can do these things, but fortunately fewer with so little conscience that they'll do it.
Fuck. At least the Gestapo had neat trenchcoats.
When ICE sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.
Adult here! What do you need?
Aww hell, mines gone missing too!
Their union endorsed him during the campaign. Of course, he described it as being "endorsed by ICE".
The incident with the counsel out of Seattle predates the Trump administration.
What's in your wallet?
It's a pity that we can't revoke his citizenship and permanently exile him. Even if he somehow reforms, character-wise... it screams of stupidity to gather victims that could probably be traced to his specific office.
I imagine googling ICE, courthouse, immigration etc. will bring up many articles on the subject.
Yup. MA is among a handful of states combating ICE's use of immigration detainers. Specifically, the state's Supreme Judicial Court ruled last July that the state's law enforcement officers can't arrest or hold a person solely on an immigration detainer.
ICE is the American Gestapo.
Jesus, that's horrifying.
ICE needs to be dissolved
We recently had the thing where they wanted to force an immigrant minor to un-do an abortion in an experimental procedure.
What? That's like some sci-fi horror movie shit!
Just stop it.
