11 year old me would have such a boner

Pull a gun on me I won't even blink, the worst you can do is destroy my physical body; pull the three God cards on me then I am running for dear life cause there is no recovering from getting sent to shadow realm.

Obelisk The Tormentor has ATK:4000 and DEF:4000 - sacrificing two monsters allowed Obelisk Infinite ATK and destroyed any monster immediately, not sure what battle damage it does off the top of my head however.

Slifer The Sky Dragon: ATK: XXXX DEF: XXXX ATK and DEF depend on number of Cards in the players Hand (x1000) - Max attack 7000 unless Unlimited Cards Magic Card is Played - Damn Revival Jam

Winged Dragon Of Ra: ATK: ???? - DEF: ???? - Both stats depend on the stats of the Three Monsters sacrificed - Ra takes the total ATK/DEF of the three, EG: 3x Blue Eyes White Dragons will give Ra 9000 ATK

Also the player can sacrifice Life Points to add on to the ATK stat - damn the show was OP.

Thanks for giving me the reason to type all this shit out, i needed to kill time in work ;)

TL;DR - God cards are OP in general, more so in the show.

Getting a gun pulled on you isn't so bad if you've got the cards

Can someone explain me why they only have flavour text on the card? The attack and defense cant really be ????/???? right? Sry, ive never played a lot of yugioh.

The stupid show let Yugi play every banned card in the game. No tournament allows pot of greed, you can't normal summon fusion monsters, and every god card or like 8 star+ card is banned.

Nothing was ever done correctly in the show. It made no fucking sense.

Actually the anime have less to do with the TCG. Real rules where made later by Konami and writers tried to make the manga/anime interesting in first place. Konami had to balance TCG for tournaments.

Hey there! Former avid Yu-Gi-Oh player (until link summoning came out). You're close with most of these effects. Obeslik can tribute 2 of your monsters in order to destroy all monster cards on your opponent's side of the field. And it can't attack that turn.

Winged dragon of Ra's attack is based off your lp and NOT the tributes. You pay up LP (at maximum you can only tribute LP until you have 100 left), And that becomes it's attack and defense. If you didn't pay all of your LP and or gained more LP through card effects, you can tribute an additional 1000 to destroy any monster on the field of your choosing.

Overall considering the summoning requirements the Egyptian god cards are pretty lack luster and actually considered to be pretty terrible cards. They can't even hold their own versus certain cards with similar attack and better effects, and most of these cards are easier to summon. The Egyptian god cards are usually run for cheese or memes but that's about it.

As a side note. These are the NON-LEGAL versions of the cards. The colored backgrounds are not allowed in Yu-Gi-Oh. They must have the standard color background that matches their summoning Condition. Since these are just effect monsters, the backdrop should be a dark brown like so: https://www.db.yugioh-card.com/yugiohdb/card_search.action?ope=2&cid=4998

Edit: for anyone looking to play Yu-Gi-Oh in a more modern sense or old school in private lobbies, look into dev-pro or ygo-pro! I could never afford any of the real version of cards I play with. But these are free and allow for tons of experimentation. Just be wary as I'm not too fond of the new link summoning rule set.

the card game first released in 1999, the anime was released in 1998 so the card game was based on the anime/manga

Great beast of the sky, please hear my cry. Transform thyself from orb of light and bring me victory in this fight. Envelop the desert with your glow and cast your rage upon my foe. Unlock your powers from deep within so that together we may win. Appear in this Shadow Game as I call out your name, Winged Dragon of Ra!

Stop. I can only go so erect.

They edited out a lot of the badass shit for the American release. Yugioh isn't actually the story of a spunky kid teaming up with his spirit-buddy the Pharaoh to overcome obstacles.

Yugioh is the story of a centuries-long plan by a powerful Pharaoh to prevent the incursion of a powerful, god-like being from outside our reality.

Not gonna lie, that was actually pretty badass.

yes cuz the tv show was based on the card game....not the other fucking way around

By beating him in a children's card game.

Slifer the Executive Producer?

Men only want three things and it's fucking disgusting...

Yeah, because they were never as good as the show made them out to be.

In perfectly scripted duels they seem unstoppable, but then you get into a real duel against any meta deck from the last 10 years and realize that the summoning requirements are too difficult to consistently pull off and they can be destroyed pretty easily.

For best results: watch in 144p

It's weird, I was just thinking about Yugioh yesterday. I've been wanting to get back into it since I've been playing Eternal Duelist Soul on GBA. The only thing stopping me is all these new rules at tournaments. It's like every fucking good card is banned!

Can't use Monster Reborn, can't use Change of Heart, can't use the God cards, can't even use Polymerization! How can you use fusion monsters?!

I understand some of the cards being OP, but shit, if you have them, you should be able to use them. There are few better feelings than using a Change of Heart on the opponent's Blue Eyes White Dragon just to use it as a tribute for something that will give you the upper hand.

My brother almost got Obelisk the Tormentor from a friend, but he gave it back because it was too powerful.

are these rare now?

Awesome I don't feel bad for not understanding a single thing I was watching now lol.
