Amazon is creating jobs for us at ups. So... many... amazon boxes. Its nuts how much amazon is getting used

Vet hasn't been able to definitively tell if it's a foreign body after an ultrasound, X-rays, and tons of blood work, urine tests, etc. She stopped eating last Friday and has lost over a pound since January. Cat mom here is a little stressed. Might be cancer. Might not. ;_____;

Holy shit. You actually captured the gravity turn-- and what appears to be first stage separation? That's amazing, well done!

How far were you from the launchpad?

Holy Mother of Mary - I just inadvertently discovered to golden goose of all TRIGGERS!

Holy Mother of Mary - I just inadvertently discovered to golden goose of all TRIGGERS!

Stay with me Pedes. Let me preface this by saying I have friends that are cucks. I don't hold it against them. I tend to believe they will come to their senses one day.

So I am talking with one of my cuck friends that is a Facebook shill reposting a bunch of Huffington articles. I was talking to him about his kids and school and which school they are going to attend because they go to private schools. He starts talking shit about Trump and Betsy DeVos and how they are going to ruin the school systems. And I say, "well you made your decision to go to private schools long before Trump and DeVos had any influence." He chuckles sheepishly and says the public schools in his area suck.

So I give him a little shit and say, "Oh yeah, so you are all about open borders as long as those kids don't go to the same schools as your kids."

AND THEN I SAY THE MAGIC WORDS:

"Fake American"

And this guy that I knew and loved absolutely loses his shit on me. I am talking epic meltdown. I thought at one point he was literally going to attack me.

I don't know what it is with the left and that label "fake." They really really hate it. I mean #fakenews is driving them f-ing insane.

So I walked away from that conversation not really realizing I had stumbled onto something. I told my based wife and she laughed at his meltdown. Then, I told my cucked mother-in-law, who I also have a really good relationship with, and she got very upset over that term "fake." "You can't just throw that word around."

Huh? So this got me scratching my head. I don't watch CNN so maybe somehow they've poisoned the minds of the masses to believe that "fake" is an evil word.

So I started dropping the label "fake American" every chance I got when I knew I was talking to a leftie, in a very casual sarcastic joking manner. And you know what? Sure as shit, each and every one of them had a strong visceral response - they were TRIGGERED!

So I bring this information to this patriotic community because there is power in triggering cucks and I truly believe this "fake American" label is the mother of all triggers.

I suggest you also start using it at every chance you get, every tweet, every text, every post.

fakeamerican needs to trend on twitter. Every comment about any leftie should start with #fakeAmerican

You too will marvel at its effectiveness.

The term "fake American" really gets to the essence of a couple of truths.

1) They actually don't believe in the founding principles and pillars that made American exceptionalism a thing. They try to fake some veneer and look like they do, but they hate the things that make America unique from the rest of the West.

Incidentally, that's also the real reason they hate the phrase "Make America Great Again." That phrase forces them to face the reality that American exceptionalism is real and that THEIR platform is basically to abandon it.

2) They are "fake Americans" because they are all about promoting THEIR vision of a "great America"... so long as the consequences don't affect them personally or ask any sacrifice from them personally. This comes across in OPs story about his friend wanting as many refugees as possible, but he sends his own kids to private school.

ELI5: The calculation which dictates the universe is 73% dark energy 23% dark matter 4% ordinary matter.

ELI5: The calculation which dictates the universe is 73% dark energy 23% dark matter 4% ordinary matter.

We can see galaxies and (with the Hubble telescope) see the speed at which they rotate. We can also calculate how much the stars in those galaxies mass. The problem is, that much matter, spinning at those speeds, would fly apart. Even adding in planets, dust, and black holes, there still isn't enough matter in galaxies to hold them together. Not even nearly enough. There shouldn't even be galaxies anymore, just scattered stars. But there are still galaxies, so something we can't see must hold them together.

The leading contender for that something is matter that doesn't interact with normal matter or energy but does create gravity like normal matter. We call that hypothetical something dark matter, and we're trying to figure out what it is.

From observing the movements of galaxies and the apparent mass they contain, we can approximate how much gravity would hold them together, and that gives us the amount of dark matter.

Dark energy comes from a different observation about the universe. There is a type of supernova called 1A, which is an exploding white dwarf star. Since white dwarfs explode at a certain mass, the explosions are always about the same, and each 1A supernova is pretty much the same brightness and color spectrum as the next.

Since they're the same brightness, we can calculate how far away they are by how faint they appear. Since they're the same color, we can calculate how fast they're moving away from us - the faster a star moves away from us, the redder it appears- we call that its redshift. (Although, regardless of the speed or direction its source is moving, light always moves at the same speed, movement toward us compresses the light's wavelength, making the light appear bluer, while movement away stretches that wavelength, making it appear redder.)

If the universe started all together and then moved apart at a constant rate, then we would expect the redshift - how fast it's moving away - to be the same for nearby galaxies as well as distant ones. But fainter (more distant) 1A supernovae aren't red enough. Since we're seeing those distant ones as they were when the universe was very young, that tells us the universe was expanding at a slower rate back then. And the further back in time we look, the slower expansion was at that time.

So the universe's expansion has been speeding up. But something must be speeding it up. What? Nothing we can detect. Since speeding up as we know it is always caused by energy, we call this undetectable something dark energy.

Calculating how much the expansion has accelerated, and how much energy it would take to do that to all those galaxies, gives us an approximation of the amount of dark energy.

TLDR: We get the amount of dark matter from how much extra gravity it would take to keep galaxies from flying apart. We get the amount of dark energy from how much energy it would take to accelerate the expansion of the universe at the rate we see it happening.
