As of today, same-sex is legal and equal in Finland. Yay, us!
Up until this point, same-sex couples had a "separate" civil partnership type of thing. As of today, though, it's equal. Edit: lol I forgot the word "marriage". Oh well.
I would like to point out that starting this day, same-sex couples don't only have the right to get married, this law also opens up the option of adoption for them. So this truly grants equal rights in terms of starting a family, not just marriage. :)
A beautiful day that took way too long to come, but it is finally here. So let's celebrate and be proud of ourselves. <3
That's a cool looking Sandcrawler.

A Stupid Mistake
Be me-18 years old-senior in high school I worked late last night. Technically into Wednesday morning. I bus tables at Cheesecake Factory. Not a glamorous job but I've loved it so far and it will help make up the needed 20% of my college tuition. I live 2 miles from work in a small, rich, white Texas town. I'm sitting at a stop light, all alone. I open my apron and look for my tip money. It's not there. I hurt my throat I yell so loud. I remember throwing out the towel in the apron earlier that day and think that I threw the tip money out. The light turned green and I floored it like some 14 year old kid who was pissed off at the world. It was reckless and unacceptable to do in a residential area. I make it to my former elementary school and start to slow down at 90 MPH when a cop pulls out from a side street behind me. I honestly thought about just running in my POS mustang and I remember laughing out loud about how stupid that was. For fucks sake there is a limiter on the thing at like 112 or some shit. I pull over into my elementary school parking lot. I grab license and insurance and waited head in my hands. Cop walks up and asks me what the hell I'm doing making all this noise at 1:00 am. I tell him my little sob story bullshit about the tip money and how I basically just worked for free since I make like $2.13 an hour. Like what my reason mattered. I was doing 90 in a 30 at 1:00 am. It was unacceptable and childish and we both knew it. He runs my license and comes back and gives me the greatest, most eye opening advice I've received yet in my young life. You ready guys, this was it: "Sometimes in life, you will make a stupid mistake like throwing out money or fucking up a simple task, you must choose to be an adult and hold yourself to the highest standard, instead of allowing your emotions to take control. This is what makes you a man and not a boy; this accountability to the law and to the safety of others is what makes you a real human being". He rubbed his mustache for a second, handed my license back, and told me to go home. I'm sitting in bed typing this from my phone, prepared to go to school tomorrow a different man and not a boy.
Good guy cop
Enligt sägnen fick (eller snodde) OP denna idé i april och har, spänd av förväntan, inte fått något vettigt gjort sedan dess.
Wow 10 minutes of face buried in hands. I really admire her commitment
Makes me wonder how on earth people ever spotted constellations. I know there a re more starts visible here than would be seen with the natural eye, but it still boggles my mind. I can find Orion and Ursa major buy that's about it. The others just get lost in the see of stars. I can't tell which triangle is the constellation I'm looking for.
When you realize crustaceans are cockroaches in water
I'm a Muslim living in Tampa and this is an amazing story. Alhamdulilah, the Jewish communities and Muslim communities in Tampa may never have been as close as they are now. Cheers to hoping that the relationship continues to grow.
Does that watermark in the corner say "suicidal watch"? Because that'd make this image/text pairing extra inappropriate.
